Rhino Shield of Louisiana

Worst home repair related experience of my life. The paint started peeling and cracking due to shoddy prep work soon after the job was completed. The paint application was haphazard and erratic, creating uneven color. There are drops of paint running down the exterior walls. There is over-spray on my windows and the caulk they applied is cracking. When the french doors on the back of the house were painted the color slopped into the interior of the house. I took pictures and filled out the customer satisfaction survey and never heard back from the owner. After contacting the company that makes The Rhino Shield material, I received a call from a company employee who handles customer complaints. A local Rhino Shield employee finally came to assess the situation. From what I gather, there is a new owner who is willing to "spray some more paint over the peeling and uneven parts of the house". Adding insult to injury, I have to cover all labor costs on this "fix". Do not be fooled by the sales pitch and "lifetime transferable guarantee" as this company does not stand behind their work or any guarantees/promises. At well over twice the rate of a conventional paint job, Rhino Shield has to be one of the biggest scams in the home repair/upgrade business.

I was happy with it. I think they did an excellent job and I'm very satisfied with it. I have nothing to say anything bad a bout them. I'm very pleased with what they've done. They come to a 3rd year warranty so I have to pay more bills or anything like that. I highly recommend them. Their price is reasonable.

The sales team was very professional. Thorough analysis of the home with a detailed quote. The original quote was more than we wanted to spend and we conveyed we were considering a traditional painter. Rhino Shield dropped the price by $4k if we agreed to the '15 year warranty'. Same paint, but with a smaller warranty. The actual installation was a huge headache. The 1st crew lasted one day and then quit because they felt there were not getting paid enough. The prep work was nothing more than pressure washing the entire house. No sanding. Replacement of any routed wood was priced separately. Windows were not re-glazed. Basically, it was a thorough pressure washing job. The second crew lasted about 1.5 weeks before they also quit. The 'foreman' on the crew could not afford to pay the laborers and the laborers stop showing up for work. The foreman asked me for a loan until he got paid (seriously, I still have the receipt I made him sign). In the end, this was just a crew of day laborers working with a guy that had the pressure washing equipment and paint guns. The primer and paint installation is done using spray guns only. Minimal if any hand-painting. I still have over-spray on my fence, garbage cans, shed roof, etc. While I'm sure Rhino Shield has some good crews, you never know who you will get. Don't believe the 'crews are properly trained in ceramic coating installation methods' story. These crews are not trained. The paint seems to be thick, pliable, and durable..... but the prepping is critical and this part is not done properly. 2 years after the installation I have paint blistering on several parts of the house. Rhino Shield is very responsive and professional in responding to my concerns. An inspector comes out and agrees there are defects that need to be remedied. 1 week later, I receive a notice from Rhino Shield with an estimate of $410 for labor. The note also states (not verbatim): As per our contract, Rhino Shield will furnish without cost sufficient coating material for replacement of any defects.. Labor is only provided during the first 12 months. After 12 months, labor charges will apply.. In summary, shoddy work, good product, misleading warranty. I would not recommend this service.

They did a good job. They were very efficient. It looked great when they finished. They told me that the job had a 25 year warranty. I started to notice three years later that the finish was coming off. I contacted the company to come out and look at the building. He told me that it was covered except for the labor. Come to find out that the labor cost $725.00, and I was responsible for paying this. I was very frustrated because they never told me this in the beginning. I would not recommend this company. They also wanted me to sign another service contract. Please get everything up front before you think about hiring this company.

Crew arrived and we looked at contract and work order. mapped out jobe plan, discussed timing and addressed all my concerns about surface prep and weather conditions. Once thee job started, they were on autopilot. I inspected the prep work with the crew foreman, then once all items were addressed, they painted out the building. Delays were only due to weather. (rain, wind, high humidity, fog)At end of job I was able to inspect the project again with foreman and all items (very few) were addressed.Very satisfied with job.

The prep work, wood replacement and application of the two cost system was unacceptable. The work crew did not speak or understand English. They were dropped of each day by their crew boss who spoke English. The work crew did not have any ongoing supervision, lacked the proper supplies, tools and equipment. They woudl have to wait forthe crew boss to bring a latter, pressure washer, replalcment wood, etc. Many hours wasted waiting for tool & equipment to complete the job. After the job was completed they had to return many times to complete or correct work they performed. I wanted a different crew to correc the mistakes and complete the job correctly but was told that since Rhino Shield paid the original crew they were responsible for any problems. As a result I have to deal with the same untrained and unqualified in correcting the poor quality of their own work. After a long period of not returning my telephone calls I called the corporate headquarters in Florida and this was no help. Finally, over a later, after sending email photos of the problems to Rhino Shield I was contacted by a representative. He inspected the work and agreed to a limited amount of repair work stating that Rhino Shield was not responsible for the work performed by the crew they supplied and that I was misenturrupting the 25yr. warranty in regards to mold issues. As of April of 2013 I continue to have mold return, issues with paint blistering, soft and rotted wood, paint fading and rust stains since they did not use galavanized nails. At this point I am hiring a different contractor to repair the issues.

Their service was great. I have no complaints. The product that they used has held up.

The guy who was the head painter was rather arrogant and rude to me. I have some paint that has come off and I have called them about repairing it. They have not responded. I am not too happy and it was quite expensive. The claims that it keeps the mold away are true. I think that customer service is major in projects like this, especially when you spend so much money. The product is good, but the service was not.

I don’t think they paid attention to detail like I would have hoped. We had them come back several times to finish the job. It was not impressive at all. The sales person who was our contact person was not helpful once the contract was signed. He was more interested in getting his check than checking with us to make sure we were satisfied with the job. I feel the final payment should be made when the client is happy with what happened. The quality of the product is too early to make comments, but the service was mediocre at best. The product may be good and I hope it is. We were not very pleased with the service from the employees of the company. When you go with a high end company, it was disappointing to not get high end service. I would never higher them again. The paint does come with about a 20 year warranty.

Their service was very good. They did a pretty good job; although the finishing work of the last few appointments when they said they would come, they wouldn’t show up. Once they were done they didn’t want to finish. Other than the details at the end, they were professional and really nice.

They were great. The work we had done was exactly what we wanted. We had no problems and were very pleased with the work. We would recommend them to anybody who asked us about Rhino Shield.

Their service turned out fine. There is probably some touch up that needs to be done. I am planning on having them come back to look at it. It has given us the protection hey said it would, I am not sure it will last as long as they said. It was clean, easy and no mess. The people were great. It just seems that now there are some issues with the paint. The company has been fine and they did a good job.

The crew turned out to be 1 person. Every so often there was a companion but he had to leave halfway through the day because he was too drunk to continue. They never finished the work. They never cleaned up or did any touch up. They sent a person over when it was raining; he never touched anything and asked the crew chief to come pick him up. I asked him when he was going to come do the cleanup. They said he was there, but he never cleaned anything. They over sprayed stuff all over my house, the pool area, and my plants. Several of my potted plants were broken. He did replace one pot with a smaller plastic pot. It was one of the most wasted $20,000 I have ever spent. I had to do all the cleanup myself. They are horrible. I still have the emails and text messages that I sent letting them know what all was wrong. If I had talked to the corporation, I am sure they wouldn’t be able to do anything because they said I needed to get satisfaction from the local owner. I told them how I felt. The contract said that if there were any boards that needed to be replaced prior to be painted they would replace them with galvanized nails so they wouldn’t rust through. A lot of the stuff they used is now filled with mildew. My house is two shades of white, one is an eggshell white and one is a glass white. They used the gloss white to touchup the eggshell white. Now I have these bright white spots where they should not be. The guy kept pushing me at the last minute to sign the paper that the work was finished. I was sitting on my front porch and he was begging me and stating I could trust him. I signed it and he was gone. It was a waste. The paint is warranted, but not the work or what was actually done. This is very misleading. He was very personable when he did his presentation. He really impresses you with the bells and whistles of the product. It was the quality of the workmanship, and that it took 3-4 times longer than it should have been, that made it horrible. Wayne Haring was the crew chief.

I called and I spoke with the manager about the problem. He said he would send out his men to look at the problem and touch it up. The way that they touched it up is horrible! It is so obvious that somebody slapped a coat of something where it was peeling, cracking and chipping, they really did not do it properly so it would blend in. You can tell that that product is not as effective as they claim. I will not use them again nor will I recommend them. What the owner said and the service that they actually performed were two different things. As a consequence, the product is not holding up as it is supposed to be. It was a complete rip-off!

We have an atrium that's wood and the rest of the house is brick. They did a very good job. They were very efficient. They gave us an estimate so there were no surprises. It looks great. If we buy another house that was wood, we would definitely go with Rhino Shield.

I was not happy with the work they did. The crew that did the painting was not very efficient. Cigarette buds and thrash was thrown and left in the yard. I had to have them come back after the paint blistered in two days and they had to redo the job. Their warranty is very misleading. They say that the paint is guaranteed for twenty five years and it won't chip, peel or stain. What's misleading about it is, they warranty the paint but they don't warranty the work. If we have a problem six months down the row, they'll bring in more paint but they don't do the work. They don't give us a copy of the warranty when we sign up with the salesman but they mail it to us after.

Initially they didn’t coat primer or didn’t coat as much as he should have. My house has blistered and peeled worst though I had it primer and painted. Commercials on the television say that it is 25years guarantee and never have to paint again but it is over promising. It is overpromised and undelivered. I would never use them again in the future.
