+ -1 moreMy new home had an existing ADT system, so I had them start monitoring services for me. They came out last month and activated my system. I am now in a two year contract for about $35/month. At the moment, I am regretting this decision. In the past week I have had two 'system errors' in which the alarm sounds (it is loud, I mean LOUD). The first time was at 5 in the morning when I was sleeping at home alone, so it was terrifying to not know if someone had broken into the house or not while I was in it. Customer services said this could be due to a power outage. Both times, however I had not lost power. I have an appointment in two weeks for them to troubleshoot, which was the soonest they could offer. I find this unacceptable. If you are looking for an alarm system and security monitoring, I would not recommend ADT. Yes, they are big and popular, but I would prefer a company A) with a better monthly rate and B) that is more available and doesn't keep me waiting in fear that my faulty system is ready to blow the alarm at any minute. I think a company like this should be able to at least offer a 48 hr turn around on what I consider a high priority issue.

+ -1 moreWell, I asked if any of the locations could send a tech out to service this alarm and they stated that they did not have the resources to send to send to me for at least a couple of months. Meanwhile, our alarm has been out since May 2012. Would you want to go with a company with little or no resources in the are to service your alarm?
Description of Work: Called the 1-800-445-0872 number tonight at the national office for service and was told they were backlogged and could not send a tech out to service an alarm that had been out since May 11, 2012. Nothing against this location, but if they can't get someone to service your alarm for a couple of months, maybe Angie's List personnel need to be aware that ADT has a really long backlog and that if you sign a thee year agreement that you may have to go months without monitoring service if the alarm stops working but that they will still be locked into a contract.

+ -1 moreI didn't like him that much so I went with someone else. He was fine but he didn't seem interested in matching the pricing. I told him what the others were offering and he said they were not one of the cheapest ones and he left. He was not rude but then he might have been having a bad day so I went with someone else. They didn't follow up for three months and they called a few days ago again and asked if I was interested in getting them. The responsiveness was fine and they showed up on time.
Description of Work: I got a quote from ADT for alarms about three months ago.
