an issue based on the techs word when they gave me the thumbs up for the summer. I ask both companies for estimates on the exact same inside and outside units and they were both aropund $4200 installed...$2100 cheaper than Kelly Scott. Since I didnt go up in the attic with the techs, as I should have, I cant prove that tampering happened, but I know that coincidences like this are pretty far fetched. As for friends of mine that have dealt with Kelly Scott, I know two other people that have de with them and had very similar events, and i can provide those names upon request. At the very minimum, Kelly Scott over charges and doesnt think anything of it.....so Gonzalas and Prairieville, BEWARE KELLY SCOTT!!!! By reading the other reviews, I think anyone can see a pattern of workmanship and greed on this companies part....I gave the grades I did based on the overall work, price and quality....F's across the board....as for responsiveness and puncutality...I gave them a B....they are more than willing to show up quick and take your money!!!
Description of Work: First off let me recommend that this company Kelly Scott Heating and AC NOT be used by anyone!!!! I had a problem with a burnt wire on my compressor and they came out and replaced the wire at a cost of $250 and recommended the cleaning service for the price of $200 per year, which I signed up for. The technicians came out and cleaned the outside unit and gave the inside and outside units a thumbs up for the summer. 1 month later, my AC goes out...I call and they send a tech out and he informs me that my refridgerant is low by 6 pounds, which is basically empty. He also tells me that I need to replace the inside and outside units at a price of $6300. He refills the unit and tells me that the charge should last anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. 2 days later my AC is out of freon and the house is 89 degrees with an outside temperature of 98. At this point I am fed up, and call 2 other AC companies to come out and look at my house. BOTH of them inform me that it appears that there is a significant leak, which should NOT have been

Tech told me I had a Builders grade system (yes) and that I needed a new system ASAP. Wires burnt. Pulling too many amps, etc. We had just bought the home. It had been inspected in March and these issues were discussed. Something didn't feel right.. I did not make a decision on the 9th. I looked at Angie's list and called the most recommended company.. Nothing to lose. Gentleman comes at 7 am next morning. SAME info except why did I need a new unit?? He sold Trane so both companies had something to gain. He took the AC unit apart. Cleaned the inside where the dirt had been pushed inside by just cleaning the outside. carefully showed me the wires. None was burned/melted. Did a square foot analysis said I was borderline needing another cold air return. Yes, WHEN I needed a new unit we would put one in. He carefully went over the details. Said at this time there was no reason to buy a new unit. He would see me next spring for another good cleaning. Call if there were any problems. I did call Kelly Scott to ask for a refund. He did meet with my husband on May 11. He stands by his tech.~~~ I feel I was falsely mislead into needing a new system. I would never do business with this company again.

It went horrible. In the middle of a complaint with the BBB against Kelly Scott and if not resolved I will be going to small claims court. I don't see how some people can sleep at night that rips people off for a living. It really is unsettling to me. Mr. Scott has wronged me and I want people to know to be cautious and careful of this company. Not only that but they are WAY OVER PRICED.
Description of Work: Mr. Scott changed my evap coil which was not the issue with my ac. My ac started having the same problem after he changed it not even two weeks later. He had other employee's come out and try to say it was now my condenser coil. Suspicious and too coincidental i called another company to come out. Mr. Scott had completely misdiagnosed the problem. The real issue ended up costing my $2700. I basically handed Mr. Scott almost $1000 for free. He knows he made a mistake and has offered me a credit for $133 with his company. I would NEVER use this company again. He rips people off. Way over priced. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this company. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND A COMPANY CALLED AIRCO LOCATED IN BATON ROUGE, LA. THE OWNER'S NAME IS JAMIE(225-755-0103). Jamie made sure to show me all that was wrong and explain in great detail. Jamie came to my house several times to check on my freon while the work was being done and made sure my tenants always had cool air. Mr. Scott did nothing of the sort. I had to drag answers out of him. Kelly Scott services is a horrible company.

The first technician they sent was unfamiliar with our system t ype - despite my secificially asking for someone trained on geothermal heat pumps (one of their specialties). He tried to do the the repair anyway, but was unsuccessful. Then the owner came to correct the first call. Less than a week later the system was once again malfunctioning and the technician they sent put an ice bag on the compressor! When we asked him if there was possibly a coolant leak, he ignored the question, did not check for a leak and left before making sure the system was cooling. It wasn't, but he told us it would take a while to cool down. When I called again a few hours later..."sorry, there is nothing we can do for you." We called another company out over the weekend and they found a huge coolant leak in a very easy to reach spot. Wow! Too bad for Kelly Scott, I was on the verge of buying a whole new system from them.
Description of Work: Recharge system and diagnose why the system was not cooling.

My central air went out last night and they were immediately responsive. I have been using this company since moving to Baton Rouge 3 years ago. I have a very old unit that I've been nursing along and they have been consistently on top of necessary repairs without being pushy about purchasing a replacement unit (although I now think the time has come). Jon the service tech is excellent.

He is excellent and I have been using them since I moved up here. They were recommended to me by my son and daughter-in-law. He does not try to sell me something that does not need to be done. He will explain thing and I think that his prices are reasonable. I paid $240 to have the whole air-conditioner checked and I have a 6 month filter on it.
Description of Work: I use Kelly Scott Heating & Air for heating and air-conditioning. The last time I used them was a week ago and they changed the filter and checked my heater.

Air handler in attic and difficult to get to. "Access cutout is located in Closet". Servicemen work very hard and fast.
Description of Work: Had Unit Serviced for cooling season. Outside coil cleaned. Also had Air Handler replaced in Janurary, 2008 for $1909.00. Servicemen not real friendly, but good at what they do.

About a year or so after we bought our first house we started having A/C problems. We called another company who quoted a very high price and ended up calling Kelly Scott AC company and they came and fixed our condensor. It was a late evening call and they stayed to fix it so that we would sleep comfortably. Not too long after that, they were working at a neighbors house and they dropped in to make sure that everything was working well for us (which it was!) When we got ready to build our first home, we brought the house plans to them and asked them to do our A/C work. They worked with our contractor and was at the job site on time, each time. Now that we are building another house, we have done the exact same. I cannot imagine anyone else doing this work for us. We have recommended them to many of our friends and family members and they have all had the same experience. I recommend them without hesitation.
Description of Work: This is the 3rd A/C unit we have had Kelly Scott Heat & AC put in for us as this is the 3rd house we have build. They have been the only company my husband will use as they have always been extremely good to us.

After first visit, the A/C seemed to be cooling, but that apparently was because the problem with the compressor only manifested itself after it had been on for several hours. They sold us a "kick-start" which cost, including the visit and labor, $117. That did not resolve the issue, so that they had to come back out twice more before figuring out that the compressor just was broken, and so on the 3rd visit they repaired it that day, even though they had to leave to get parts and such. They were always prompt and mostly nice to work with, in spite of it seeming, on their second visit, like they didn't believe that the A/C wasn't still working. They did not charge us for all of the site visits, but since the labor for the compressor (which was still under warrantly) ran us $695, when you add that to the initial $117 for the kick start, the whole thing ended up being pretty expensive. They said that since the outside unit is so big, that we still need the kick start, though I'm a little wary about that. The actual repair work done was done quickly and quite well. They did not leave a mess and everything has been working great for several weeks since. The A/C seems to be cooling better now than it ever did! Maybe the kick start is helping, in addition to the new compressor.
Description of Work: A/C was not working (didn't cool). Took three visits to diagnose and then fix the problem, which was a broken compressor, which was under warranty.

They arrived on time, were courteous and started promptly. They explained what they were doing and kept me informed of their progress. Overall, I was extremely impressed with this company. They finished up in a timely manner and had no "hidden" or "unexpected" charges. I paid exactly what I expected to pay.

I had to wait until Thursday to get the work done. I wasn't here when they did the work as the receptionist told me I didn't need to be. A few days later I noticed that it wasn't cooling properly. When I called and asked if they could send someone to check the work that had been done I was told that there was nothing wrong with it that, it was the hottest part of the day and that I wasn't a technician. I was told that if there was something else wrong with the system we would have to pay again. We finally agreed that they would check the work done and do no more. The receptionist Tanya is rude beyond belief. When the technician came out and looked at it he found that not only had the replacement parts been wired wrong but the fan blade had been put on the wrong way, he had to replace the fan blade again. The last technician JJ was fantastic and if you do call this company ask for him, he seems to be the only one that knows what he is doing.
Description of Work: Repair work to an air conditioner compressor that they installed four years previously. Our compressor was replaced under the home warranty we had, the warranty company chose Kelly Scott as the contractor. On a Sunday night recently we noticed that the compressor was making a loud noise. They came out on the Monday afternoon. They told me that the fan blade and motor needed to be replaced, that it was covered by the warranty and all we would have to pay was the labor. Even though they sell this model of compressor they don't actually keep replacement parts in stock. Which even the technician was surprised about.
