lawn mower repair
+ -1 moreBrought the mower in on July 27. On September 9 they called to say that they couldn't read the date of purchase for warranty work. I had contacted manufacturer before bringing it in and mfgr had set up an account or file on my issue. I have Ike's all that information. After I contacted mfgr again Ike's acknowledged it was warranty work. But, they botched the repair and now say it's going to require a transmission replacement. They are refusing to return my mower or $75 deposit until the mfgr agrees to pay for the defective work they did. When I complained, they told me not to come back. They certainly don't have to worry about that. UPDATE: Ike's just called to refund my deposit and said I could pick up (unrepaired) mower. I'll take to another authorized service center.

lawn mower repair
+ -1 moreDropped my pressure washer in May and have yet to have it repaired, it's now September. They do not provide follow up calls nor do they provide any information, as to when a resolution will be reached. The only information I've received is that warranty claims are slow, and they will call me back the following day. THEY NEVER RETURN MY CALLS! They charge $75.00 regardless, just to receive it in their shop.

+ -1 moreTurned out to be too costly so decided not to repair. The problem I had with them they were VERY slow, had it for at least three weeks before they even looked at it. I called them multiple times to get a status, each time was told someone would call me back, they never did. The last time I called just so happened they were looking at my mower then so I stayed on the phone to wait for the repair estimate. Very disappointed in their communications and length of time to just look at the mower. I went elsewhere with my mower.
Description of Work: Brought Toro push mower in for repairs, cost $50 to be looked at which they would apply to repairs.

Description of Work: Troy-Built weed eater. These guys are overwhelmed and understaffed (to begin with). Seems they mainly do large corporate accounts with companies that bring multiple large generators, etc. My first clue should have been when they asked for a $25 deposit to fix a $100 machine. Understandable, but VERY rare in the country town I'm from. Then, after taking my money and my machine, told me it would be a minimum of three weeks. Again, given the season, understandable. THEN, when I stopped by yesterday afternoon to check on the progress after 3 1/2 weeks, turns out it had been done for several days and they never even tried to contact me per our agreement. THEN, when they brought out my machine it had obviously been used after they were done working on it. AND it was full of oil/gas mixture when it plainly says, and was written on my claim ticket, that it was a four stroke engine. AND there was no cutting string left. AND it was absolutely filthy from top to bottom. I asked Jim, the supervisor what was going on and he told me "well, I told so and so to go grab a weed eater and do some work around the yard". When I complained about it being filthy (I'm one of those guys who at least rinses off all of my lawn equipment after each use) he replied,with a shrug! Very unprofessional! Folks, I try to use local resources whenever I can but I will drive 30 miles to take it somewhere before I'll bring anything to these guys. You've been warned!!!!!!

+ -1 moreIke Fixit said he put in a new electrical box (which he later said it didn't need) and cleaned out the carburetor which he would bill the manufacturer. They said I should have bought an extended warranty, I said they should sell a product that works. I tried many times to use Angie's list not only to fill out a report but to find dealers and had no success. maybe in time, there will be merchants to check into.
Description of Work: Bought a Cub Cadet mower for $3,350.00 that did not work, then was told to contact IKE FIXIT SHOP. Ike Fixit then picked it up on 6/15/07 and returned it 7/31/07 and said he fixed it. He did not; it worked 2 hours and then stopped and it has not worked since.
