He said this project would take two weeks. Ten months in, it still isn't completed. I was without a sink, stove, oven or kitchen cabinets for six months. Whole weeks have gone by with nobody showing up, and most of the work that has been done is shoddy and rife with "beginner" mistakes. Tools of mine--including a new chainsaw--have gone missing during the project. I've caught the company lying in attempts to cheat me as well, like when they showed up with flooring nothing like what I'd picked out, claiming that all my selections had been out of stock, and explaining they'd had to get the in-stock flooring that looked most like what I'd chosen. I called the supplier and learned that my top 3 flooring choices WERE in stock, and that coincidentally, the material Lamp had bought was the cheapest flooring that store carried, at $0.69/sq ft (the contract which I had already paid specified $2.50/sq ft). In addition, the ineptitude of most of the workers is staggering. They removed my old air/heating unit, but forgot to cap the drain line before sealing it in a new wall. Now, when I run my washing machine, water seeps out of the wall into the kitchen and laundry rooms. My new flooring is buckling and rippling from the water under it. As it stand now, Lamp is refusing to do any further work (or repair the many issues they created) until I pay for painting, work, something which was neither contracted nor authorized; in fact, it was explicitly non-authorized. From the beginning, we agreed that I would do the painting, and this is specified in the contract. On 10/8/2022, I was leaving for the office when two workers showed up. They said they were going to paint the kitchen and were just waiting for someone to bring them the paint. I told them they were not supposed to paint and even showed them the part about painting in the contract. I said, "if you guys are gonna paint, you are gonna be doing it for free, because I'm not authorizing it." They laughed and commented about how nobody communicates down there. Then, I texted Lamp's Manager and told her the same thing, that painting wasn't in the contract and that any painting they did would be for free, because I was not authorizing a change to our agreement. When I got home that night, I discovered that they had painted the kitchen with flat white ceiling paint. I've since painted over it myself, with the paint and color I was intending to use from the beginning. After a few weeks of nobody showing up, I inquired about when they'd be coming back to finish the project, and Lamp responded with a bill: $2,458 for..... you guessed it, painting. He says they will not finish the job until I pay up. This is going to end up in court. Do not let the nice website and the image they project fool you. This company is neither honest nor competent.

BEWARE and DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND THOROUGH RESEARCH before even slightly considering Lamp Design and Build owned by Matthew Lamp. Ask him for LEGIT prior customers info/contact numbers & you will RUN & not look back! Im not even sure I can put the disappointment, awful work and total scam into words to describe what was done to my husband and I. We began our entire home renovation project in the beginning of 2020 and more eager and excited than one could possibly have imagined. To sum it up, his minimum - hourly waged, unskilled hired help knew how to demolish and tear things up, but none were qualified to put things back together. In fact, the only thing they were absolutely FANTASTIC about was asking for more money. Not only was the hired help not qualified to do what we contracted them to do but tools, electronics and other items were taken from our home from the various help he would send. He couldnt keep a set crew or the same people employed, as we always had different people showing up when they would show up at all. Unfortunately, we paid them in advance a lot of money and got absolutely crapped on and had to hire other contractors to finish the nightmare they created for us and the rest of the renovation. I honestly feel like I am at fault here as well for trusting a company and person to do the right thing and allowing the payments to be made for as long as we did. NOTHING WAS DONE AS CONTRACTED and we literally purchased everything for them to do this job. They came with nothing and did nothing. This was my first time and experience with a home renovation and I was completely snowballed by someone who talked but definitely could NOT deliver. The only thing we can do now is warn innocent people to be very cautious and NOT make the same mistake we made. From the electrical, plumbing, flooring, Sheetrock, painting, insulation, tile, grout, you name it - every piece of it, was done incorrectly and needed to be Re-done by someone else. Not sure they actually completed one single task from start to finish that was contracted. A living hell and nightmare that I wish we could have avoided and the costliest mistake we have ever made in our life.

I would not even consider this company a contractor. He sent unskilled and unlicensed workers over to build an addition. He bypassed the permit office so he could use an unlicensed plumber, installed non-NEC compliant equipment, and refuses to correct any of their mistakes or refund the money paid for the work. I had to hire a plumber to finish installing valves, lavatory plumbing and install a faucet The plumber also uncovered the hot and cold pipes installed in reverse order in the shower. I also had to hire a painter to finish painting the stucco repair that has taken him 5 months. He also made a hole in the kitchen ceiling that was patched and left unpainted also. He also used 2 different vinyl colors on my patio extension. Not to mention, he started work during a severe thunderstorm and of course, the roof tarp did not hold so water poured in caused my laundry room and master closet ceiling to collapse. This place is a joke, I would not recommend them to anyone. The workers use YouTube to look up how to frame, do plumbing, and install AC. You get the drift, he hires unskilled workers that do handyman work. At this point, I have plumbing, flooring, AC, electrical, and vinyl soffit work to correct. Stay far away from them,

They are very dependable, trustworthy company to work with. They made my life so much easier. Great work I must also add. The ladies in the office were tremendous help along the way as well. Couldn t have got the job done without them. Give them a call for all your remodeling needs, you won t be disappointed.

A colossal disappointment. Customer service and build quality was poor. Contractor stopped work before completion and would not return our calls. We had to finish up on our own. Our project probably exceeded this contractor's capability.

I had a major plumbing pressure leak inside if my home. There was extensive damage throughout. Lamp Development was extremely quick to survey the damage, begin the drying process, and demolition. Plumbing repairs had to be made, walls had to come out, cabinets had to come out, flooring, , etc... then all replaced. Major repairs throughout the home. I am so impressed with the quality of their work, their helpfulness and guidance, and the care that they show in every aspect of the project. I will definitely hire them again! Update since my last review: I have had them come to this property again and other properties that I own and have continued to be very impressed with their work care helpfulness and service. I continue to strongly recommend them.

We are using Lamp Design Build to do a major renovation of our home and are currently over half way through the project. It is coming along very nicely. They have worked with us to get the most out of our budget, provided great recommendations in designing the project, and are very satisfied with the quality of work. From the office staff to the onsite workers, everyone has been a pleasure to work with.

Do not hire this design build company! Mel Lamp, the father/architect, had wonderful ideas, but: 1) the survey he secured came in two times more expensive than quoted, 2) we did not get a set of issued-for-construction plans, with details, and 3) the addition was not built as drawn, i.e. our addition was to be a handicap accessible suite, but there does not appear to be the blocking required for grab bars and a wall mounted sink. We found that Matt Lamp, the son/general contractor, lacks customer service skills and mostly provided budget materials when quality was needed. This is contrary to the image they projected of their work at the outset. He has only been to the house twice, but it's been 180 days since we signed a contract for about 700 sq.ft of living space. When confronted about the management of our project, Matt became agitated and was unable to finish the conversation; he hung up and we haven't spoken since that day. Others have called, but not the owner. It seems two office/project managers quit, and several employees have left or been fired since our contract began. An entire month passed (Aug/Sep) during which little or nothing was done at all. Additionally, no toilet facility and few, if any, personal protective equipment were provided for the workers. We paid every change order, and made every effort to assist workers and staff. All checks cleared without issue. However, the job is not completed, they missed the deadline, and no one is answering our phone calls today. What a mess. And they knew we needed to be done by October 15 because our family will be staying with us next week for an upcoming event. We are very dissatisfied!

We recently hired Lamp Property Development to put in our back screened porch. Lamp designed it just how I wanted and the staff even finished earlier than expected, I'm so happy with how great it looks! Definitely recommend.

My husband & I has hired LAMP Properties to design & build multiple projects for our personal home and our rental properties. The range of jobs they have done for us so far include, renovations on our rentals, re-shingling a roof, siding, gutters, and adding a beautiful outdoor patio & kitchen area to our home. Each and every crew was very professional, polite and hard working. At days end, they even cleaned up behind themselves so the only thing you noticed was the improvement when the jobs were finished. The communication between us, the design team, the project managers, and the office staff was exceptional. We will defiantly use LAMP Properties / Design + Build again, when we need any other work done.

My husband and I are just thrilled with the finished garage/shop that Lamp built for us. We were not real sure about the design, but knew that my husband needed space to work and a place to park my car. Lamp designed and built a 3 vehicle garage with one section being a work shop for my husband. The entire staff from owner to the work crew were professional and courtesous.

Had the same horrible experience as Michael B. in Covington. Would not consider them for any future projects.

I hired Lamp Property Development to build my office building for me. They did a great job on the design! They also did a great job on the construction, from the ground up. I was so pleased with Matthew Lamp and his crew. They were professional and had everything done on time. I was very happy with the entire experience and would highly recommend them for whatever project you are about to undertake. I used them for several projects and they are my number one go to contractor.

Once again Lamp was so incredibly helpful throughout the process of adding our screened patio. They know I was rather particular about our screened patio and wanted it to look as though it belonged to the house and not a later addition. Thank you so very much for all your help and for the great quality!

We originally were looking at doing an outdoor kitchen with Lamp, but I am very glad that we did not. We ended up just getting a back patio. We were lined up with Gerald, who made communication very hard. He didn't respond to calls and messages at a timely manner whatsoever. We took off multiple days of work to meet Gerald to set out the flags and multiple days he didn't show. The concrete workers came to form up everything and had no clue where to set it up. I had to take an additional day off and miss an appointment to come do Gerald's job for him. The concrete crew was very pleasant to work with and truly did an outstanding job. There were some footprints in the primer at the end of it, but they were eager to make it right. We had absolutely no issues with them. Mr. Allen Klein and his crew were great and I highly recommend them. I feel bad because our frustrations with Gerald got pinned on them and they were never of any fault to them. Every time my wife and I tried to explain to Gerald and Lamp why we were upset, they made it seem like we were mad at Allen and we were not by any means. My wife called to clear things up with Gerald as things were getting out of hand. He kept cutting her off on the phone and then lied to her and said he did things that he did not do. My wife was home when they did all the work and we have cameras as well. He then hung up on her. Horrible customer service! He tried to tell me differently and talk around my wife to me which is disrespectful in itself. She had every right to be upset as so was I. We are paying a lot of money to a company that isn?t doing what they said they would do. My wife then spoke to Sherri who told her that she would make things right and then cut down the price and that the general contractor would come out to survey the property before we had to pay, but come to the end of the job, this was not the case. She ended up changing her story as I heard her on speaker phone and no one came out to make sure the job was complete. She actually ended up hanging up on my wife at the end of that call when my wife told her to have someone come pick up the check, and we are done with LAMP. This was the worst experience we have ever had. I express again that we were pleased with Allen and his crew, but extremely disappointed with Lamp. This is not how businesses should be run.
