+ 3 moreI've renovated two historic houses and Richard has worked on both. He rebuilt a rear addition for my former house that included a screen porch with a bay. It was a challenging narrow lot and it came out looking fantastic. I've since sold the house and the new owners love it and report it is holding up well. The house I currently live in had extensive termite damage to the point of almost being a tear-down and Richard has been great with working with me as I incrementally repair and improve the property. It is a project that will take me several years and is sometimes paycheck to paycheck. When I first bought the house I had lost Richard's number and hiring another contractor set me back tremendously, as what they built would have fallen apart in five years.
Description of Work: If you have a plan or specific vision of what you want to build, Richard is your person. He has years of experience and is particularly good at working with his client to figure out how make your idea meet your budget and be sturdy and durable. He is not afraid to speak up when issues like hidden damage come up and figure out reasonable solutions. If you are looking for the lowest bidder, Richard won't be it, but if you want to build something that lasts, he is your man. I've hired him to build an addition, frame, repair siding, install historic millwork, do structural repairs, build a covered pergola, install kitchen cabinets and more. His carpentry skills are excellent, as is his common sense.
