Contractor was professional, polite and responsive, but he had to return repeatedly to correct leaks. Biggest problem was the poor quality of the patio cover material and guttering materials. So thin that it was severely damaged by hail, and gutters sag dramatically whenever there's a heavy rain. Also we have been told by several contractors that the gutters were installed incorrectly.
Description of Work: Replaced original patio cover and supports and further extended new patio cover with gutters on all

The material was first quality aluminum. When you have hail storm it always will damage the material it hits. Shingles, aluminum roofs, siding gets damaged by hail. You know every one in your neighborhood got new roofs. Are you dissatisfied with the company that did your shingle roof?

My experience was excellent. He came out when he said he was going to for the estimate, and came the day they said they were going to be there for the work. It was all completed in a very short amount of time as well.

The experience was poor. He was responsive and called me promptly, but he quoted me $3400 for something that I didn’t want to do. He told me he’d get back to me to get the work done that I wanted to have done, but he never did.

Description of Work: JLM came out the morning after I called, made emergency repairs to vents on the roof that had led to interior water damage and eventually gave me an estimate for full roof repair/replace. He was on time, pleasant, efficient. I would use again.

He hasn't been very responsive. Hecame to give me an estimate 2/20/2012 and stated he was going to send pictures of door replacements. I never heard back from him. When I spoke to him on the phone he was very curt. He was supposed to come out this morning and he never called or showed up, when I called him he told me to call Angie's List for a refund. I even spoke with him in person on several occasions. He just seemed like I was too small of a job for him

They were polite, prompt and professional. I contacted them for estimates after confirming with insurance that roof needed to be replaced. Their estimates were very close to insurance estimates. It did take me almost two months to secure funding (since insurance only paid about one fourth due to depreciation) and he wanted to increase quoted rates, however, he did honor original estimate. (I would have cancelled and searched for new contractor, rather than pay 10 per cent more). The workers were prompt, courteous, and clean up was good.

I called him to do repairs on the roof when he got here his helper went up on the roof and started working for at least 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours. They were fixing a leak on the roof. He replace all the shingles that needed replaced and put a new vent where one of them had been blown away. When in the attic he noticed that the AC filters needed changed and he went out and bought two of them and replaced them at not charged to me. He also pulled my carpet up that had gotten wet and smelled at no charge as well. He did all of this while the other guy was working on the roof. He also offered to fix a fixture in my kitchen and if I had the materials there he would have fixed that too. He did all of that extra work at free of charge except for the roof repair. I payed his worker with a check for the work and Jeff would not take any extra money from me. I was just so overwhelmed that he did all that work for me and did not charge me a penny and I kept trying to pay Jeff and he would not take the money. I am so greatful for all the work that he did for me.

We had an appointment for 10:00 am, but he showed up at 8:50am, and did not call to see if it was ok. It wasn't but I let it go.The estimate was for 1950.00. The roofer was suppose to replace a sheet of plywood, if it could not be renailed down. I had to run an errand, and was gone an hour. When I returned, I was informed that he had to replace an additional sheet of plywood, and the cost would be an extra $50.00. Now, all he had to do is call me to get an ok, but he didn't. He just sprung it on me when I returnd. Or, he could have knocked on the door and talked to my wife. The cost is now up to 2000.00. I was told that the metal vent stacks needed to be replaced, or I would have a problem, he said that they really needed to be replaced. Now, there was seven such vent stacks, and he tells me that he normally charge 100.00 a peace to replace them. I told him no way. Then he said how about 500.00? So i let him replace seven of them for 400.00. The contractor advertised that he would install a supplied attic vent for 99.00 on Angie's website. Even though I had purchased my own, he charged me 150.00 to just install it. I had to do the electrical myself. My cost is now up to 2400.00At the completion of the job, I asked about the work guarantee, he could give me anything in writeing to guarantee his work. I would not use this cntractor again because of his work ethics on how he does business. So far, I am satisfied with the work, but the documentation that was given to me after the job, is unprofessional. No written guarantee. But, I take full responsibility for this because, I shoul have gotton at least three estimates.
Description of Work: The job was to repair a section of the roof over my garage. A sheet of plywoow was to be replaced, and was replaced. Cleanup and remove all debries. Seal the metal flashing near the brick vernier. The cost was to be $1800.00, which was a little high, based on what was to be done. But I had a leak and needed it repaired. The entire roof was to be inspected and take care of any loose nails or minor repairs as the cost of the entire job. He was also supposed to install an attic fan I had purchased the fan myself. He charged me 150.00 to install the fan, I had to do the electrical myself. So the total cost of the job was to be 1950.00.

TO BEGIN WITH this member LIVES IN GATED COMMUNITY SO WE HAD TO GET THE OFFICER AT THE FRONT TO CALL AHEAD. IF WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO COME IN HE WOULD HAVE TOLD US BECAUSE HE HAS TO GET APPROVAL FROM the member FOR US TO COME IN. THE ESTIMATE WAS ORIGINALLY FOR $2000.00. $1850.00 FOR THE ROOF AND $150.00 FOR THE EXHAUST FAN TO BE INSTALLED. THE ROOF HAD ANOTHER BAD SPOT SO I HAD TO RUN BACK TO LOWES AND GET ANOTHER PIECE OF PLYWOOD. I MADE THE CALL ON THE FLY. HE TOLD ME THAT HE WAS TO BE GONE AROUND ONE HOUR. SO I DIDNT FEEL THE URGENCY TO LET HIM KNOW TIL HE GOT BACK. UPON HIS ARRIVAL I PROMPLY LET HIM KNOW THAT I HAD TO GET ANOTHER SHEET OF PLYWOOD AND I SAID THAT IT WOULD BE ABOUT $50.00. HE WAS OK WITH IT THEN. I DIDN'T FEEL IT WAS APPROPRIATE TO BOTHER HIS WIFE SINCE HE WAS GOING TO BE BACK IN AN HOUR OR LESS. SO THE COST IS UP TO $2050.00 SO THE NEXT THING IS THE LEADS AND I TOLD HIM I NORMALLY CHARGE $100.00 A PIECE BUT SINCE THERE WERE SEVEN I TOLD HIM I WOULD CHARGE HIM $350.00 AND THAT SEEMED ACCEPTABLE. THE CUSTOMER DID NOT SAY THAT HE SAW AN AD ON ANGIES LIST FOR $99.00 BUT I WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN THE SAME DEAL BACAUSE IT WAS A LARGE EXHAUST FAN AS APPOSED TO A LITTLE VENT THAT IS A TOY COMPARED TO WHAT WE HAD TO INSTALL. THE REASON I COULD NOT DO THE WIRING IS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BE AN ELECTRICIAN. THAT GOES BEYOND THE SCOPE OF MY LICENSE AND I TOLD HIM THAT. ALL WORK IS WARRATEED FOR ONE YEAR WHEN YOU DOING PART OF A ROOF, THAT IS MANDATED BY THE STATE THE DOCUMENTATION WAS BROUGHT WITH ME TO THE JOB BECAUSE WE WERE TO START A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER I FIRST MET WITH HIM AND HE SEEMED OK WITH THAT I TALKED TO MR ROGERS TODAY AND HE SAID THAT HE WAS HAPPY WITH THE JOB AND THAT HE WOULD RECOMMEND US TO ANY ONE WHO ASKED FINALLY I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT HE IN NO WAY EVEN IMPLIED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. UP UNTIL JUNE 2, 2012 AND WE DID THE JOB ON APRIL 27, 2012 WHEN I LEFT THE JOB SITE AND BY THE WAY I WAS THERE THE WHOLE DAY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF COUPLE TRIPS TO LOWES AND LUNCH. HOW MANY OWNERS OF THE COMPANY WOULD YOU EXPECT TO SEE AT THE JOBSITE. SO THE MORAL OF THE STORY SOMETIMES YOU JUST DONT KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE THINKING UNTIL THEY ARE ASKED TO WRITE A REPORT AND HE MAY HAVE BEEN IN BAD MOOD THAT DAY, I JUST WISH IT DIDNT HAVE TO BE TAKEN OUT ON ME. THE END

Jeff is - Not reliable; not responsive; not someone I would recommend.
Description of Work: The instructions for this Section is to describe the Dos and Don'ts - My suggestion: Do Not use this company I purchased a special offer from JLM Remodeling LLC for 2 hours of exterior general carpentry. I contacted owner, Jeff Murray, on March 26, 2012 and asked when we could meet to go over the carpentry work that needs to be done on the property. Jeff told me that he was busy and asked if I would call back. I indicated that I would call back and leave a message on his cell phone. He said that he had my paperwork in his truck. As soon as we hung up, I called back and left a message on Jeff's voice mail with my name, phone and address. On April 2, 2012 I called Jeff's cell and got his voice mail. I left a message: indicated that I had purchased the JLM Remodeling special 2 hour carpentry offer and asked if Jeff would call me so that we could set up an appointment. April 19, 2012, I call and spoke with Jeff and we agreed to meet at the property, the next day at 11:00 a.m. Noon, April 20, 2012, I called Jeff and reminded him that we had an appointment scheduled for 11:00 a.m. He said he was sorry but he could not make the appointment. He said that he would call me early the following week to schedule an appointment. ??? April 28, 2012 - I have yet to hear from Jeff.

Member The phone number that you have on your Angie's list account that shows up when you make a purchase correspondence with the Big Deal has a bad phone number so the number of times I tried to contact you I reached a party that did not know who you are. So when I went back to my paper work and tried to reach you I was unable to. And the couple of times we did speak I was either driving or on a job site. So this problem did not occur for my lack of trying. So until you correct this detail on your Angie's list site it will be complicated for any one to do business with you!!!!

He met with me the same day I called him and gave me a price within a day or two. After a few days, he followed up with me and once I accepted his offer, he started within a week.
Description of Work: In 2007, I had my elderly uncle's roof replaced by Triangle Roofing. It was my belief that the entire roof was being replaced for approx $3,500. Earlier this year, we noticed some water damage behind the sofa. We thought the water was coming from the ground and contacted someone about leveling the house as we thought that was the cause. However, the contractor said that his house did not need leveling, but instead it was our roof leaking as "the contactor did not finish replacing the roof!" When I called Triangle Roofing to come out and fix it, I found out that they DID NOT replace the entire roof. Instead, they replaced all but a small section, which they considered was "flat" (but which we did not know nor were ever told it was considered to be flat as it was on a slant). Despite my attempts to work with Triangle Roofing, they told me it would be an additional $2,000 to replace the small section of the roof because they do NOT do flat roofs, instead they contract out the flat roof portions. Triangle did not even offer to patch it to stop the leak and did not reply at all to my email about my dissatisfaction. I contacted two other roofers and obtained prices to replace the small section. I ultimately went with the proposal by JLM Remodeling (which was not the lowest bid), but I felt comfortable with the owner. He was very timely and did a really good job. I also asked him to take a look at fixing the water damage inside the house. He gave me two options. He said he could fix it, but suggest that because of the location of the damage (behind the sofa area) that it may not be worth fixing at this time, but he left that to me. I felt he was honest and was not attempting to take advantage of the situation. I would definitely recommend JLM Remodeling (not Triangle Roofing) if you are looking for someone you can trust and who has your best interest in mind.

Initially we hired JLM to fix a leaky roof. I liked that he was quick with responses and quotes. The price seemed a little high, but we went with it anyway We had been having so much trouble with contractors keeping their appointments, we figured at least he would get it done on time and respond when we needed him. The area in question was patched and the patched area blended in very well with the rest of the roof and so were were pleased. However, the area began to leak again and also in other places that we had noticed previously. Jeff was willing to fix the patched area (it was under a warranty he promised) and wanted to patch three other areas that were noted to be leaking as well. The price for the additional patches was close to the cost of replacing the entire roof. We decided to replace the entire roof. I told Jeff that since we had just paid for a patch that didn't work, he should at least give us a discount on the cost of replacing the roof. He agreed to discount the new roof by $1500. For the patch, Jeff and another guy did the work. For the roof replacement, there were other subcontractors that did the work and Jeff kind of showed up at the end of the day on the days the roof was worked on. That week, I got home after sunset usually so I never really got to inspect the roof until it was well more than halfway on. then I noticed THE ROOF WAS THE WRONG COLOR. Jeff's response? The color we wanted was out of stock. And that was his only explanation and never apologized for the fact that he did not even offer to ask us what other color we might be interested in. So disappointed. That was completely unprofessional for a roofer. The new roof color (a grey, brown, tan speckle) does not blend in very well with the brown/tan brick of the house from afar, but up close, it looks okay. So basically everytime I drive home and come near the house I think how much I don't like the color. I look at other roofs thinking how so many options would have been better than the color HE chose. On a better note, the new roof has not leaked even after a terrible week of heavy rains, and for that, I am pleased. But if we have problems again, I want a new roof in a color that I choose. Update: Since the new roof has been installed our two water heaters that are located in the attic have gone out. One burst and flooded the house, the other was caught just in time. The plumber reported that the problem was because the vents were not realligned after the roof was installed and it lead to a slow leak of water to the top of the water heaters causing them to rust and also fumes were not properly exiting. He said that a roofer should take a look in the attic and enure the vents are ligned up properly before being considering the job done. Then on top of that we have had several roofers and insurance adjusters looking at the roof due to possible replacement for the hail storm damage from earlier this year. All have pointed out the various portions of the roof that were not properly installed in the first place. I don't know all of the roofer language but many have said "your roofer did a poor job."

I could not have been happier with JML Remodeling!!! They did everything I asked and more! The previous owners of our new home had a hands-off approach to home maintenance. Particularly, the soffits along the front of the house were severely damaged and all but torn down. As a result of the damage, the soffits had been inhabited by pidgeons for years and years. Generations of pidgeons were being raised in our soffits, and most recently, a raccoon had also discovered this virtual cave of wonders (which happened to lead to the ventilation for our attic). Basically, our delightful New Orleans double had become a multi-plex with ourselves and our tenants splitting the main level and the pidgeons and raccoon splitting the soffits and attic! Jeff came in with two workers (who were equally polite, professional and a delight to work with) on a Thursday morning to rip off the soffits along the front of the house, remove and clean the soffits along the sides, completely cover any and all openings/ventilation to our attic, and then reinstall the side soffits. To say that the soffit removal was disgustingis a gross understatement. Literally YEARS of pidgeon excrement, feathers, nests, debris, and even a carcass or two fell from the soffits when they were taken down. No one complained! By Thursday evening, they had finished the front of the house completely, and had removed the soffits and boarded up the gables on one side. Even knowing they had to return the following morning, the workers made sure to clean everything at the end of the day, and Jeff returned after they had left just to make sure I was satisfied with their cleaning job! The next morning, while working on removing the soffits from the other side of the house, the workers discovered that our raccoon friend had managed to trap herself and her baby in the back few soffits (presumably in a failed attempt to flee). Jeff gave me a call to let me know about the situation, and (instead of just stopping in their tracks like many others would have done) continued to work around them while I was en route. When I arrived, having purchased a few humane traps, Jeff and his men then proceeded to spend an hour with me trying to figure out the best way to deal with the situation and ultmately rigging up the traps to hang in front of the open soffit and chase momma and baby into them! I cannot express just how above and beyond these guys went when it would have been perfectly reasonable for them to have simply stalled their progress and returned to finish once we had taken care of the situation ourselves. Even if everything else had just been mediocre, I would happily recommend them for this alone!! In the end, the work was finished Friday afternoon, they had accomplished everything I requested (and then some), the work itself was solid and professional, the finished product looks ten times better than it did before, and they left my house and yard cleaner than when they found it. I reallycannot say enough wonderful things about Jeff and JLM Remodeling!!! Though I don't think they'll be branching out into pest control any time soon, I highly recommend them for any roofing (or similar) jobs! :)
Description of Work: 1) Remove soffit in front and close of ends 2) Replace rotted pieces of soffit on sides 3) Repair gutters by adding missing spikes and add a few more and tighten all 4) Change out leads with plastic sleaves 5) Move and extend a/c drain pipe 6) Remove exhaust fan and cover hole with metal plate and shingles 7) Removed & numbered soffit, added plywood to gables inside attic and cut pieces to cover holes, reinstalled soffit

Background: I bought the Angie's List "BIG DEAL" promotion for JLM to do some minor siding repairs on my home. The deal was for $99, you get $200 worth of work. Well, I figured that would be plenty good for the small amount of work I needed. Just a cracked piece over the garage, and a piece that had come loose over the garage as well. Also, a small section that can only be accessed from the roof, and a small piece of soffit that was hanging down. That's about it So, I showed these items to Jeff, and asked him how much, thinking I'd have money left over. Instead, he said "well, you're about $250 over the voucher already with what you've shown me". I couldn't believe it. I was quite irritated and felt this was a rip-off. I was visibly frustrated and I asked him to just do the $200 worth of work. In other words, do what you think is worth $200 and stop. Pick out of the items that need repair and do up to $200 worth of work. Well, before leaving, he took a (large) sample off of the front of my house to match the color. The problem is he never came back. I received an email a few days after this estimate, indicating my $99 would be refunded, since things hadn't worked out. That's fine, but he never brought back my sample either. I called him about it and he said he had thrown it away. The piece he removed as a sample was probably 2 or 3 feet long and 10 inches high. So, where I had a small crack before, there was now a visible eye sore that could be seen from the street. He then proceeded to call me a "pain in the azz" and said to hire someone else to do the job. I've since had someone working in the neighborhood and saw my missing siding and came over to give me an estimate. $100 for everything! That just confirmed what I already knew, that these guys were trying to rip me off. I can't stand the idea that someone runs a "special" only to get their foot in the door and then tries to gouge you. I felt obligated to do my part to make Angie's List as useful as possible. I tried these guys and had a bad experience. I'm always looking for reviews before I buy things and services, though I've hardly ever reviewed anything myself. This time I was frustrated enough to take the time.
Description of Work: Services were not performed because the estimate was quite high relative to the small amount of work it would've required. The only "service" was following me around the house while I pointed out the trouble spots. Oh, and removing a "sample" which was never returned.

Response from JLM Remodeling LLC
When I arrived to inspect the work the customer was interested in having done I immediately sensed there was a problem He seemed agitated before we even got started. But I asked him what areas of the house he felt needed attention and that seemed to put him out. I guess he wanted me to inspect the house without any input from him. It helps me to know what the customer is concerned about on there own home because they know there home better than I do and I use that as a launching point to determine what I think is important and necessary. Well I guess that was to much to ask of this man. But I listened to what he wanted Done and if i determine that the work goes beyond the scope or value of the coupon I am abliged to give a quote. Which is what I did. When I gave him the price he became indignant but I remained professional and after he told me just to do whatever I felt would be covered by the coupon. Well I just bit my tongue because I knew if I said anything it would just inflame the situation. So I took the sample and left. After I left I decided that if I went back on this mans property he would become more combative than he was when I Was there so I called my rep from Angie's list and asked them to refund his $99.00. The following day an email was sent out To refiund his $99.00 with a tailored explanation from Angie's list. I felt this was the best way to handle this situation. Now three or four months down the road this gentleman calls me yesterday threatening me he's going to write a report to make me and my company look bad. All over the sample i took. So I did say to him that if he wants to act like an ass-hole than that is his prerogative but he just needs to hire some one to do his work and get over it. I am a professional that carries workers comp insurance and as many of you out there can attest to who have hired people off the street and then they get hurt or feign an injury that costs you more than yor homeowners insurance is willing to cover. Point being The estimate that I quoted is a lot cheaper than someone who falls off a ladder and doesn't have insurance and sues you and will win.If you don't do your due diligence and hire any Tom Dick or Harry you are putting yourself in more jeopardy than necessary. Sorry Tom Dick and Harry
