Jeff of all Trades

Did a great job helping out in a pinch.. The work was solid and he hustled to get them done. However, I won't be able to use him again unfortunately because he doesn't use email or texting and with my schedule, it is really difficult to be available for phone calls between 7.30 - 3.00pm. If he would use technology so we could communicate about estimates, email proposals, etc., I would use him again. So, if that doesn't matter to you - use him.

I called Jack on Thursday in the early afternoon. He was able to come by our house around 5:00 p.m. that afternoon. He immediately found the problem and quickly removed the parts that were leaking or rusting through. He drove to the hardware store nearby, picked up replacement parts and returned in 15 minutes. He installed the replacement parts. Total time for the job was less than 90 minutes. He provided a receipt for the parts cost and the rest was labor. I am very happy with him and will use him for some other jobs around the house.

Jeff did a great job. He gave me an estimate and completed the work within a week. Great atttention to detail and finishing.

This my second time using Jeff, and the service performed was just as good as the first. His honesty and knowledge really make you feel as if you are getting what you paid for. I will continue to go with Jeff in the future.

He installed 20 new electrical outlets through out our house. He was able to repair instead of replace a faulty bathtub faucet, saving us from having to tear out Sheetrock to replace. Jeff continues to exceed expectations.

Jeff knows what he's doing and wants to get it right. He did everything I needed and did it well. He seems to be able to do almost anything. I do plan to use him in the future.

They came out and installed all three bedroom ceiling lights, two of which they had installed recently and were kind enough to swap them out with different ones because they didn't give off the amount of light we were looking for. They installed another ceiling light in a living room that previously had no overhead lighting and even though it meant a lot of extra work they placed the light switch exactly were we wanted it. Next they identified and repaired some faulty wiring that was beginning to short out a fixture. Finally they installed a new lavatory faucet. I am totally satisfied with Jeff, his work ethics and the way he conducts his business.

They did an excellent job and completed all the work in a few hours. They were very accomodating coming out on a Sunday helping us get back into our home after enduring an extended hotel stay.

I was getting ready to replace the wooden front steps, took them off and discovered that the wood beams beneath the porch had rotted. Jeff came over immediately, gave me an estimate of $1000 to do the work (I purchased the materials) and returned on time to do the work. Over all the work was done well. The additional $300 I paid was for work that came up as the job progressed--such as trimming the porch posts, adding some mortar to the brick piers.

I called Jeff and left a message about doing some work for me.. He returned my call within a few hours. I explained what I needed done and he seemed willing and accomodating. He was a little quick to criticize his competitors, but that's not unusual. We set a time for him to come and look at the job. He was to come around 3:00 and called at 12:00 saying he was nearby. I explained I was running errands and he offered to come as originally planned. I said no that I could return home quickly. He was to meet me in 15 minutes. After I got home and 15 minutes passed I looked out my french doors and saw a van with a flat tire. A few minutes I looked out again and a man was changing the tire. I thought it couldn't be Jeff, could it? About 10-15 minutes later my doorbell rang and there was Jeffwith his face drenched in sweat and filthy hands. All I could think was either you're going to leave dirty fingerprints( he was to look at my leaking windows) or want to wash up in my bathroom. I mentioned that he was late and I was surprised he would choose to change the tire before doing my estimate. He said he wanted to get the unpleasant work out of the way first. I briefly complained and he said maybe we were stating out wrong and he should leave. I agreed. He said he was sorry and left. He was nice enough but I think he exhibited poor judgement. I would be concerned with how careful he would be in my house when he thought it apprpriate to arrive sweaty and dirty. It seemed pretty unprofessional to me. I would not recommend him.

Excellent, efficient work. I have several other projects for Jeff in the next month. I am very happy to have finally found someone who can fix just about anything.

This is EXACTLY what I hoped to find when I joined Angie's List. Jeff Owen is as trustworthy a handyman as you can possibly find, and he does fine work to boot. That's not to promise that your projects will go as smoothly as mine did, but what I can promise is that he will approach your job with your best interests in mind. Jeff honestly seems more concerned with his Angie's List rating than with making money (I mean that in a good way)! That's not to say he's cheap...he charges fair prices, maybe on the less expensive side, but the important thing is that you can trust him not to tack on a single penny if it's not necessary, or to nickel and dime you over anything. In fact, it's quite the opposite: as an example, he fixed my malfunctioning light fixture quickly and charged nothing for it. It's also worth mentioning that he doesn't charge a mark-up on materials and doesn't pressure you in any way. The work he did for me was fantastic; he saved me quite a bit of money over an expensive alternative that I thought I would have to pay for. The only real criticism I can come up with is that he was constantly barking at one of his assistants, but I think they are also friends and that's the oddball dynamic between them. I would use Jeff again in a heartbeat, and I am thankful to have found him.

Jeff's work was very good. He returned my phone message quickly, and was prompt, thorough, and reasonably priced.

The drain in my wife's tub was completely blocked. Jeff was kind enough to come by late on a Friday afternoon to check out the problem. He came back Saturday afternoon after finishing his other scheduled jobs and fixed the problem by putting in completely new drainage pipe under the bathroom. During the process of fixing the drain, he discoverd there was a continuing water leak that was rotting the floor. He came back on Sunday and worked for six hours finding and fixing that problem, which was caused by two different leaks. He found one of the leaks in a place that I did not know was even possible. He did an excellent job of diagnosing the problem and an excellent job of fixing it permanently. I was extremely grateful for his willingness to work on a weekend to fix our urgent problems. In addition I was very appreciative of the fact that his fees were very reasonable. He did not charge an extra fee for the weekend work and the cost of each job was very reasonable.

Great. he is punctual, gives a fair price, finds the most cost effective way to repair things. And my kids think he is hysterical.

I've used Jeff before, and just like before every thing went great

We ordered a new door seal for the refrigerator as it had come loose and the refrigerator was running constantly, contacted Jeff of all Trades to see if they could install the new seal. Unfortunately when they arrived the seal that was purchased was the wrong seal, however, they were abel to clean up the old seal and re-glue it. So far, everything seems to be holding.

Jeff is a very personable and honest worker. He came to do the estimate shortly after I ci\ontacted him. He gave a detail description of the services and he priced it according to each job. Jeff took me to buy materials and he conducted all the work as I asked him to. Jeff has a broad base of skills from plumbing to electric to general repairs. The project took about 7 weeks and at times he was able to dedicate most of the week and other times he came frequently for brief moments which extended the time to completion. Jeff is very chatty and is a great worker for people enjoy company. The project came out well for the price. The finish of the job was delayed with some small details omitted untill call to his attention. The clean up was not great. Overall the project was well done and the process was easy to cope with.

Everything went well. Communication was clear, I agreed with his approach to fixing the problems. Even the tenants called me to say how happy they were with his work. He gets an A+ and I have already contacted him about some more work.

Jeff did a good job. He was punctual and professional. When he had to wait for some of the furniture to arrive, he stayed busy by looking for small things he could work on or repair. Would definitely use him again. Recommended!

It took a few days or more for Jeff to corroborate his calendar. Whatever other services he is providing on contracts always seemed to get in the way of the day and time we agreed on; that only happened a few times, admittedly, but it is annoying. He was friendly and chatty and nice to work with. This review is largely negative however because on the third strike, you're out....1. I don't want to leave my house to go buy a part that a plumber needs. If you need it, go get it. I have a plumbing supply business literally 3 minutes from my house; there is not much inconvenient about that. You're supposed to be the expert; go get what the job needs. If time is an issue, banter less. But do not ask me to leave my house to get your parts. That's part of your job here. 2. I have an enormous hole in my tile floor that now has to be fixed because, when fixing the second repair job which was discovered (leaking joint elbow pipe under the sink, under the house), rather than work to replace the existing elbow pipes in the wall and then down through the floor, he just proceeded to start cutting a large square hole in the tile and the floor. I would have much preferred to use the existing route and replace what was there. I can hide it, but only barely, and what I change sinks??? But I was not given any vote or voice in that matter, apparently, because he just went ahead and did it. That does not sit well. 3. All of that would still have earned a C+ rating in my book--at least the problems were fixed. But on my wife's second use of the tub we discovered the overflow valve on the tub is leaking--substantially. Third strike... poor plumbing work. I mean hey, I could read the instructions too. Which Jeff did. Great. But if I wanted a leaking tub, I could have saved the $200 and done it myself. That's the reason I hire someone--to save me a multiple of hours and to do it right the first time. This job did neither, in the end analysis. Maybe his talents lie elsewhere, but not in plumbing.

I called Jeff on Monday, 7/19, and he agreed to come over on Wednesday. He did, a little late, and surveyed the work. He agreed on Thursday for the first stage of the work. Thursday, he came over as agreed, and removed the existing counter and set it aside, including the 2 by 4s that supported the counter. Then he installed the 220 Volt outlet and capped off the gas line. Later in the day, A-1 Appliance installed the new washer and dryer. Saturday he came back and replaced the counter, raising it by reinstalling the 2 by 4 supports about an inch higher, to fit the new appliances. He then glued the counter on in essentially the same position.He willingly responded to my requests for minor changes as we went, like cutting off the plastic tube that vents the dryer exhaust to the outside so we could get the dryer closer to the wall. He also cut two notches in the splash plate in back to allow access to existing electric outlets. He had to relocate circuit breakers in the breaker box to make room for the breakers for the 220 volt circuit. That went fine, also. The result looks just as good as the original installation. We ave very pleased.

Once again, Jeff comes through. I had a leaking main water pipe to my house. I called several other plumbers, only one showed up said he was going to give me an estimate and never called back. In the meantime, I call Jeff at 3pm and he was on it with 2 other guys by 5pm. He stopped the leak and is now going to repipe the whole area since the pipe is old and rotting. Jeff to the rescue!!!!

Jeff Owens was very - very good, knowledgeable in all aspects of what was needed in home repair and upkeep. Always on time and reliable. couldn't beat the price he quoted to do the repairs needed. Great Price. Done a lot of extras at no charge. Good quality work.

Jeff did ultimately complete the work satisfactorily. However, after he initially completed the work, water leaked from the tank on one of the toilets. Jeff returned the next day, spent a couple of minutes examining the tank, and decided he didn't know why the water was leaking. He told me to call him if I figured it out, and he left. The next day, I figured out that the water level in the tank had been set too high. It was leaking through the opening where the flush handle is. When I phoned Jeff again, he attempted to direct me on how to fix the problem. Trouble was, he was directing me how to fix a different type of kit than what he had installed in that toilet. When I told him I didn't get what he was talking about, he became exasperated and was, in my opinion, rude. He finally agreed to return again (a third time) to my house to look at the problem. When he arrived, it was a simple fix. Had he remembered what type of kit he'd actually installed in that toilet (or at least listened to my explanation of what the equipment in my toilet looked like), the third trip to my house (and the snippy attitude) could have been avoided.
