Everything went great... The termite damage was a surprise, but it wasn't an issue. Jeff was very reasonable and I would absolutely use him again.
Description of Work: Jeff repaired the termite damaged subfloor and refinished our antique heart of pine floors.... Also installed a attic vent.

he Jeff knows what he's doing. He repaired the kicked in doorjam flawlessly. In fact, it had been kicked in before (it's a rental) and Jeff made it look better than before. The wall took an extra day because the first step needed to dry for a day. However, when it was finished, it was smooth. Once painted, you couldn't tell that there had been a hole. I do have to caution, Jeff is a talker. He'll talk your ear off, but he's happy and good at what he does. The fact that he made himself available during the holiday weekend made him worth every penny.
Description of Work: We had a door that had been kicked in, and a hole that had been punched in a wall. We needed a repairman right away (and it was Mardi Gras weekend), but Jeff came through. He repaired both the door and the wall in a timely fashion and his work was good quality.

Jeff was just what I needed- someone who could look around at what was needed & repair things with no fuss. He made every effort to fit the job in when I needed it done, & was easy to communicate with. He went out of his way to work with my schedule & his pricing was definitely something that I could live with. This is the beginning of a good relationship. We needed a handyman that we could trust, & thankfully have found Jeff.
Description of Work: I needed help with various jobs around the house, such as installing new smoke detectors, repairing a toilet, & sussing out why one of our showers had terrible water pressure.

Description of Work: Jeff repaired a window air conditioner. It wasn't draining properly and was leaking water forward into the wall. He removed the unit and fixed the clog. He will be returning to fix the sheetrock when it has time to dry.

Iwas picking Jeff up from Ochsner after a surgery he had on his leg and was still recovering. On our way to his home he asked how things were going and I mentioned I was under a tight time frame to get a coffee machine hooked up for an event we were hosting at our church. He insisted we stop by there on our way and take a look at the connections--even though he was on crutches! He needed to get home to rest, so after he saw the components and made a game plan I went ahead and took him home. The next morning he called when he was up and about and I picked him up--he has all the tools in the world in a trailer and van, but wasn't able to drive because of the surgery. Anyhow, we went straight to the store and bought the parts we needed---not anything extra of course, and we headed to my workplace. Even though I felt under the gun, Jeff was calm and collected and again--even on crutches--he made the repair and had it all hooked up in minutes. I was pretty surprised that Jeff was so willing to help us out in a pinch. Of all the times he could have ignored me or not returned my call because of his own situation, he was more than willing to come help us out. In the future, it's a no brainer who I will call when I need something fixed right and quick for the right price.
Description of Work: Jeff came by and fixed a water supply line that was leaking---and rode with me to a big box store to find the exact parts we needed...

THIS SECOND TEXT BLOCK APPEARED FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, AND THE SYSTEM WOULD NOT ACCEPT MY REVIEW WHILE IT REMAINED EMPTY. I COULD FIND NO WAY TO DELETE IT.
Description of Work: This review is only semi-current: Jeff did work for me a year or more ago, and I was very satisfied with the quality of his work and his charges (between $300-$400 for several small handyman jobs). Because I was so pleased with him, I called him again a few weeks ago (sometime in April 2013, I believe). He told me that he was very busy but might be able to see me for an estimate in about 2-3 days - the Wednesday following my call to him - and would either phone me or come by. That's the last I have heard from him. I'm sorry to give him such a bad rating because I really liked his work and prices, but I have zero tolerance for people who don't respond as promised. It's rude, unprofessional, and shows lack of respect for my time as I'm left waiting around all day for nothing.

I never went to look at her job so that means I DID NOT give her a price for replacing her attic steps. I have replace at least six attic steps in the last five months and never charged anyone over $175.00 that included painting them. I really didn't like the lie about $500.00 to replace the steps. Glad I didn't work for her.

While Jeff started off with a bang, the end result was disappointing. His first visit was prompt, but the job required a return visit to complete. He was not able to return until almost 3 weeks later, and the end product was messy. The silicone used to re-install the glass needs to be trimmed as it has oozed out all over the glass. I believe that Jeff has a hard time saying no, and this puts him in the position of being unable to timely complete his jobs. I will not use him again.

I installed a new kitchen faucet at my house a few months ago and the water pressure had slowed in the past couple weeks. I called Jeff to ask his advice after work one day. He gave me a few things to try over the phone and had me call him back. I was surprised at his willingness to help during his relaxing evening--even though my evening was getting to be stressful! I called him back about 30 minutes later and we discussed my options. In the end I bought a new faucet and replaced the faulty one, but without his help and advice I might have been there all night scratching my head on what to do. He offered to come over right then and there to help. In the future I know who I’ll call with my plumbing problems!!

He came the day I called to give an estimate and offered to install the pet door the very next day which was a holiday. He was punctual and quick. I had purchased the pet door, and on the day of the installation, he opened the box, and said there were parts missing. He made the measurements, cut the hole, and waited while I went to the store and returned with the parts needed. He was waiting with his assistant as I pulled up. he took it from me and they had it in in less the 15 mins of my re arrival. He called before he came on the day of installation and was earlier than his estimate, which I appreciated. Will call him again. Cost was what we agreed.

You are going to love Jeff - we certainly do. After working on our house for just 2 days, he is like a member of the family, and we intend to have him do some more work for us in 2 weeks. Jeff is not only knowledgable, extremely competent, reasonably priced and fun to work with, but he is extremely hardworking - I couldn't get him to take a break even after hours of hard work. He did an excellent job, and everyone in the family loves him, even the dog - what more can you ask for? We now have a new family member we can depend on when we need help around the house.

I live in an double shotgun house in New Orleans that does not have central heating or air conditioning. The heating system is sort of a hodgepodge of old floor furnaces and gas heaters, augmented by space heaters. My tenants' started having trouble with their floor furnace: the pilot was on and lit, but it did not seem to respond to the thermostat. I called an HVAC guy I know, and my plumber, but both of them told me that the floor furnaces were such an old system that they would not work on them. I called around a bit and everyone scoffed at me, but then I tried Jeff. Rather than making it seem like an impossible task, he said the furnaces were pretty straightforward and that he would figure it out, and could come over that night. He said he was on a job currently, but could stop by in an hour or so, and that he'd call me as he was leaving his current job, to give me a half an hour's notice. The job took him a bit longer than he'd expected but he called to let me know, and arrived as promised. It took a bit of doing, he had to climb underneath the house three times, in the pitch black, but he got the floor furnace fixed in an hour. He's a bit of a quirky guy, but friendly, and very capable. I work 60 hours a week and the fact that he was willing to come over at 7 pm, with only an hour's notice to fix something no one else could help me with, means a lot. While he was over, we set a date for him to help me with some wainscoting and baseboards I needed finished. He was willing to work around my hectic schedule, even offering to work on Thanksgiving, to do so.

Jeff came over to fix a floor furnace, as explained in my previous review, and we set a date to finish some trim at my house. I've been renovating my house for 3 1/2 years, doing most of the work myself. There are a couple of projects I've gotten 85% finished, but lack the knowledge or tools to finish the last 15%. The wainscoting and trim were one of these. In the room that used to be the kitchen, there was wainscoting missing in about a third of the room. I bought, cut, and painted wainscoting to match, but was not sure how to proceed. Jeff came over (a half an hour late, but due to some confusion on both of our parts) and helped me install it all. He had picked up the materials necessary to complete the job before arriving. Not only did he install it, he let me help, explaining what to do so that I could learn how to do future projects on my own. He taught me how to cope trim, even recommending a specific coping saw, and giving me pointers on how to install the saw's blade, for next time. He stayed longer than he should have, so that we could get everything finished. He even fixed my back step, without me asking him to. He just mixed up some cement and repaired it, because he noticed it was wobbly. I mentioned a couple of other projects I'd like to finish on the house and Jeff offered to lend me the tools, so that I wouldn't have to spend the money on tools I won't use often. Overall, it was a great experience, and I look forward to working with him again.

Description of Work: I'm sure Jeff is a great Handyman on the South shore, but don't rely on him on the North-shore. I had to call him every-time to ask whats his e.t.a. on my project. His answer first on the phone was I get $125 for starters on the South shore & $150 on the North-shore cause of the drive on the causeway, which I agreed, but after a few calls I gave up, Also-when it was supposed to go to voice mail. His answering service said, " I'm sorry but the person your trying to reach has not set up a voice mail yet and got hanged up on me. Now what ?!!!!!!.

Jeff is a strange guy. He showed up and did well for a few days but then dropped off the face of the planet for about a month. He did some of the work but left the things I needed done the most(the hard part) uncompleted. He then disappeared and called me a month later to get paid. he gave me an excuse of losing my number which doesn't reallly work since the cellphone was invented. he tried to charge me for work he didn't do and I was still overcharged but just wanted him out of my life so I paid him and ran out of the door. He is a strange guy and he might do good work if he feels like it but I couldn't tell...

Jeff came and gave estimate. Seemed knowledgeable, friendly and someone that I could use for other work that I needed done. So, I decided to go with him. He came one evening to do the prep work, and was to return early the next morning to install the tub. He came hours late and did not call. I had to leave my significant other to deal with Jeff if he showed up. I had also asked Jeff to install a new faucet on the bathroom sink. I assumed he'd take out the vanity before installing the clawfoot. This would have given extra room and prevented unneccessary damage. He didn't and I have scratches on the vanity, tub and door frame and cracked ceramic tile that could have been avoided. I bit my tongue. At this point I just wanted a working tub. Jeff had to come a couple of times to "complete" the job. Something wrong, some piece he needed to get.... Once the job was completed, I couldn't wait to take a bath. Lo and behold big leak. Waited one day and noticed that the water was leaking when the tub was not in use. There was just a continuous leak. Called Jeff, he said he would come back. It took several phone calls and missed appointments before he finally came to fix the tub. He turned off the water to the tub and left saying he'd be back to finish. That was several weeks ago. After several unreturned messages, we resulted to using various phone numbers trying to get him to answer our calls. The last couple of times we spoke to him, he said he'd be out the next day; he just got the part he'd ordered to fix our problem... But we haven't seen him and have given up. I'm trying Flex Seal.

He is excellent. He does beautiful work. He is very helpful and very convenient. He had suggestions about ways to do things when I was kind of stuck. He is extremely reasonable. He does it in a timely fashion. I don’t have to oversee him. He knows what he is doing. He shows up when he says he is going to. He is very professional. He does excellent work. He will be the one I call and if he can’t do it then I might consider somebody else.

1. When Jeff came to start the work, he had a completely different attitiude. Was very rude and unprofessional. Yelling and cursing at his coworker. He called me when the work was complete and told me all he had to do was come back out and caulk on top the cabinet. I had to get back to work so I did not notice everything that was wrong until I got home that night. Drywall and Issues 1. Drywall was not let dry and sanded properly. Little holes all along wall. 2. Dryall not even in certain areas. You can run hand along wall and some areas are smooth and some are rough and uneven. 3. Drywall behind cabinet not even, therefor not allowing cabinet to sit evenly on wall. 4. Drywall behind cabinet not sanded or painted. Big chunks of white stuff(drywall maybe)sticking up from behind cabinet 5. Metal parts of attachments of sheetrock can be seen. Dishwasher and Plumbing 1. Replced dishwasher, leak in supple line. Causing major damage to my cabinet. Had to get plumber out to fix. Costing me extra money. 2. Replaced all parts under sink not up to code, plumbers had to replace. Costing me more money. 3. Leak under sink, causing damage to cabinet. Plumbers fixed. 4. Garbage disposal cracked. Had to replace. Cost $250.00 to get it all fixed and repaired. Windows 1. Window Sills leaning downward on both. 2. Window sill above sink is cracked and covered up with paint on 2 sides. 3. Area around window above sink is not even. Zig Zag looking. The window area was not made evenly on each side. Cabinets and Molding 1. The above cabinets on the right side of sink are not aligned properly. 2. Molding along bottom of cabinet cracked in several places. 3. Molding along wall, not reattached and aligned back the way it was. Used caulk at end of molding at other wall to make it look like its molding? Painting 1. Painting was done horribly. Gray paint on ceiling. White paint for cabinets and molding wasnt touched up where it needed to be. Tile FLoor 1. Cracked piece of corner on my kitchen tile floor Electrical Rewired the electrical outlet behind my gas stove so that I did not have to use an extension cord to plug in my stove. I went to use my stove and my stove sparked and all the power supply to the electrical part went out. We called out a repair man for the stove because we thought the stove broke. We did not want to turn it on to check. He said the electrical was not wired properly, which made the stove burn up. That was $60.00 for a service call. Now we need a new stove. Will cost roughly $700.00 for a new one and an real electrician to fix electrical outlet. Not sure how much that will cost yet. Mess 1. Left tons of mess outside in my yard for me to have to clean So overall I paid Jeff of all trades $1789.00 Plumber $185.00 Repair for Stove $60.00 Electrician to fix outlet unknown
Description of Work: 1. They were contracted to remove and replace the drywall on one entirewall of the kitchen and breakfast area which has a bad case of mold from old windows. The entire wall included behind the sink, upper and lower cabinets, around 2 windows, and behind the fridge. Also he said he would, as an extra, upgrade, replace and rewire 3 electrical outlets. All cabinets, kitchen sink, dishwasher, 2 window sills, moldings and all were removed and the work began.

Before Jeff got here, he asked me the distance from the dryer to the wall, so he could pick up parts. I estimated the distance, but said I really wasn't sure. Jeff arrived on time, and hooked up the washer and dryer. When he showed me what he did, I noticed that my washer and dryer were at weird angles. He said this was done because he had not bought enough dryer vent tubing to reach out to the wall. Instead of leaving to buy more, he decided to jerry-rig my dryer instead. He quoted me $180, but stated if I gave him a favorable review, he would decrease the price to $150. I was excited by this until the vent popped of my dryer. So, my husband had to buy more and fix the vent himself. Then, the washer was moving around a lot during the spin cycle, and I could not get any heat out of my dryer. I called him my problem and stated I thought the washer problem was due to the barrel being locked for the move. Unfortunately, he did not know how to unlock the barrel. So, I had to hire a repairman to come and fix it. While here, I asked him to look at what Jeff had done, and the gas valve was never opened to heat the dryer. So, that is why my dryer was not working either.
