I made an appointment through my home warranty company. The tech was able to come out the same day, which is the reason for the D instead of the F. Not only was he totally unprofessional, first trying to enter my house without a mask, when I had already made sure with the company that their employees wear all appropriate protective gear, but then he took it off multiple times. He almost passed out twice, dropped 3 heavy items on my floor from the attic, created a crack in the ceiling when walking in the attic (in a spot that he definitely didn't need to step), left a mess and when the smoke alarms starting going off in the house, decided to leave instead of try to help (which I do understand wasn't his responsibility to do), left without explaining the work or collecting payment. Since he left without collecting payment, I was called the next day to pay. Makes sense. When I was told my total, I informed the employee that my understanding was that my trade call fee should be $100, not the $277 she was telling me I owe. I asked her to allow me to speak with my home warranty company. In the 3 LONG call made to my home warranty company over 2 weeks, I was, 3 times, informed that Calloway had still not provided the work completed to them, therefore they could not make a decision on coverage. I pay a lot of money for a home warranty, so I just wanted the courtesy to be explained what wasn't covered and WHY by the home warranty, not Calloway. Calloway wanted to get paid, I understand, but on one of the multiple, now bordering on harassing, calls with Calloway, the employee tried to scare me by telling me that if I don't pay them, the home warranty would cancel me. Not at all Calloway's place to tell me that. Sure, if they were being friendly and trying to help me out, I guess, but at this point in our relationship, they had not been that kind of helpful. I would not work with them again. And I suggest they get some cooling vests for their young, buff employees so they don't pass out in someone's house.

I had one tech come out in late May, he said the problem was that the lines needed to be cleaned, which he said he did, and cleaned out the pan for me, for a total of $350. Way too much considering, within a few weeks as it got hotter out and the AC was put to the test, I found the problem was not solved at all. Called the guy again and he quoted me ANOTHER $350 to level the unit, which was not even the problem, and if it was he should have noted it the first time. By mid June I found myself emptying out the drain pan myself with a shop vac every two days. I called the company again, a third time, and they sent out two techs this time, who plugged up some holes and said they fixed it. Two days later and I'm having to empty the drain pan twice a day. Finally, $350, three phone calls later and with the same problem I started with, I called someone else, who came and fixed the problem for $80. One of the pipes leading to the condensate line was not angled enough for draining to occur and water was collecting inside the HVAC unit and pouring in the pan instead of draining outside.
Description of Work: My air conditioner HVAC unit was continuously leaking LOTS of condensation into the drain pan and not draining.

Initially I was really pleased when they got my HVAC back up and running on a hot, September day. At the time, the technician explained that the repairs he was doing were not up to code but were safe and even encouraged me NOT to pay more for the additional repairs needed to bring my unit up to code. It seemed odd, but I thought he was being honest and trying to save me some money and seemed to know what he was doing. Flash forward to the first cold snap when I powered up my heater and my house filled with a distinct electrical fire smell (not your typical "first heater day of the season" smell). In a panic, I cut all power and called a trusted electrician. When he arrived, he started pulling out melted and charred wires, the same ones I watched the Calloway technician install. His diagnosis was that not only was code ignored, but the work was done dangerously poorly. His actual comments were that whoever did this had "no respect for life or property." I immediately contacted Calloway and they were concerned and apologetic and promised me a full refund on the cost of their work (I did not ask for them to cover the extra service call, only refund my money for a job that was not well done). After I did not hear back for a while, I was told they had no record of the transaction or a work order from the tech. I provided my receipt to them and still did not hear back after several attempts via email, text and phone. Finally I reached them again and was told they would refund half my money and would call me back in 20 minutes. A few hours later they called back to say they took no responsibility and because it had been over 30 days they would not be refunding any of my money. Needless to say I'm pretty upset. Not only did these guys put my home and life in danger, they are took advantage of me financially. I cannot discourage you enough from using this company. Your home/business is just too important to take a chance.
