had work done on my mothers property and now the pillars are failing. I have to call 4 days a day for a week just to get someone to come out. then it took me 4 more weeks to get on a day for the repairs. Well after calling again 4 times the day of the repairs only to have a no call no show and I missed out of pay and work for that day to still see a huge crack along side of the wall where the pillars were placed. Be advised to STAY AWAY from this company

This company has fantastic employees who perform in a great way! I called with some basic foundation questions and Emily was wonderful- she answered all of my questions in a detailed way that was very easy to understand. Top-notch customer service! Thomas came today to perform an inspection- he was courteous and professional and a delightful source of information. I recommend Abry Brothers Inc strongly- now I truly understand why the company has such a great reputation in New Orleans since 1860. Excellent people- awesome company!!!!! Very satisfied customer!

I am impressed and amazed at the honesty I experienced with this company. I was told that the foundation was just experiencing minor movement due to age, and only my Patio had an issue. I was also told not to let anyone use any type of locking cables on the patio as it would cause damage due to lack of weight and resistance that would be damaging at some point. Both the other companies were going to do this. I had received two other estimates one for $30,000 and another from a well known company for over $16,000. Both had differing opinions, but at some point a was skeptical of both. I called Abry Bros., almost did not use them bc of the fee for a written estimate, but I am truly thankful I did bc I received a gift. I highly recommend you call this company before you do anything with anyone else.

It looked as though the core work was done very well. I was displeased that my azaleas and night booming jasmine were destroyed - possibly the contract addressed this, but had it been pointed out more directly, I may have sought some way to salvage, at least in part. Also, the work was left unpainted, so there is an area of the porch that does not match the rest. Again, maybe not in scope of contract, but this would be a nice thing to offer. Who wants to line up another contractor? Finally, they seemed more anxious than most on payment, and when I first asked about giving a payment over the phone they were hesitant (credit card or check). They suggested leaving the payment in the mailbox (not really authorized use of mailbox). I ended up sending an electronic bank check which hopefully gets there within their required 10 day window. But, of course, I wanted to take a look at the work before leaving/sending a payment. That said, they were otherwise nice to work with, and the core work seems well done. They also left me with a nice T-Shirt.

While removing some drywall as part of an interior remodeling project, we found termite damage to some corner studs, top plates, and cross bracing of an exterior wall. We were concerned that the damage may involve significant repair work, so we called Abry Brothers based on other reviews here, and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Jeff arrived on time, and after taking a look at the damage advised that we don't need Abry Brothers, we need a framing carpenter. He provided a recommendation for us. They could have easily taken the job and just subbed it out, so we really appreciate the time Jeff and Abry Brothers spent on this, as well as the honest evaluation and recommendation. We wish we hadn't wasted their time, but if we ever need more significant structural carpentry, shoring, leveling, etc., Abry Brothers is who we'll call.

After some initial issues with arrival, Juan and his team worked diligently to provide quality service. To make up for the time lost due to issues on his end, Juan and his team arrived on time, ON A SUNDAY and worked throughout the day. (they were there through the beginning of the super-bowl!) The team stayed in contact with me via phone and text, and completed the job as promised. It may just be me, but my home feels more solid and stable as i walk throughout. I feel confident that should any issues arise with the work that was performed they can be counted on to make good.

Emily, Jeff and the crew were extremely helpful from start to finish. They gave us a quick and fair estimate, did not hesitate to give me very helpful advice and did great work in the end. The crews cleaned up after themselves every day and worked quickly. Most importantly, Emily and Jeff were honest and trustworthy throughout the entire process.

Jeff showed up exactly on time. He was extremely polite and professional. After looking over the potential job he let me know that I didn't need a shoring company. My house isn't sinking! I have some drainage issues and a landscaper along with a general contractor appear to be what I need. I cannot express enough the gratitude for his honesty. He is a credit to his company and his profession. Too many people try to take advantage and he made me feel like I could trust in Abry Brothers in the future if I needed their services. I would certainly recommend them to any friend looking for a shoring company based on my experience with him alone.

My General Contractor who I hired to do a whole house remodel hired Abry Brothers to repair my foundation. The GC actually didn't do his due diligence and crawl the foundation and I was having a hard time getting him to do it after asking him for several months, so I hired my HOME INSPECTOR to crawl my foundation and tell me the repairs needed. (I am a Realtor so it was the inspector I normally used) I gave the full report along with COLOR photos to the GC and he hired ABRY BROTHERS to fix everything. The job started and I called Abry Brothers to make sure they received the report and they refused to talk to me since they stated their contract was with my GC. I'm not sure if they ever received my report but on their estimate it stated they did their own inspection. Well, since I am a Realtor I am used to foundation repairs and I frequently peek under houses before my clients buy them to get a general idea of work that may need to be done. I have also renovated other homes and am pretty knowledgable about the process. (of course this is the first time I hired a GC instead of subcontracting things myself) I honestly thought Abry Brothers quote was outrageous. However, my husband wanted to get it done and since the GC didn't call them until all of the sheetrock was floated and painted, he said he would only repair any cracks if we used Abry Brothers. We felt forced to use them. (Just a reminder, I have been asking the GC to do this for months before the sheetrock event went it...this is a whole other story) Long story short, the work is extremely subpar and I can't wait to post these photos for you. Basically you can have absolutely no knowledge of a foundation at all and the shoddy work and defects are glaring. I am obviously upset. I have mentioned this to my GC several times and I have had no feedback so I decided to write this review......$5,000 down the drain for a job that should have been $1500 at the most!

Response from ABRY BROTHERS INC
While we are sad to hear that (removed member name) has had an unpleasant renovation experience, Abry Brothers would like to clarify a few things: First, Abry Brothers’ contract was with (removed member name). It is not our practice to disclose the details of a contract with parties other than those to which we are legally bound. That said, in light of (removed member name) complaint, we requested (and received) permission from (removed member name) to publish the contract details for the purpose of defending our company’s name and reputation... Abry Brothers’ scope, as per the contractual documents, was limited to the following: Remove wooden shims located on top of 8 piers on the right side of the house. Support with concrete shims on the affected piers. Reconstruct the right front corner pier and right front pilaster under the porch. Remove the wood to ground contact under the bathroom on the left side of the house. Install new foundation as follows: Dig and form a new continuous foundation on the left side of the house under the bathroom, 24” wide by 14’ long by 10” thick. Install #5 steel reinforcing bars 6” on center lengthwise and 24” on center crossways and pour a 3500psi concrete in the forms. Install a 14 ft. supplemental sill under the floor joist in this area. Build the required piers on top of the new foundation; each pier will be constructed with 8”X8”X16” concrete blocks. Backfill and scatter the excess mud. Abry Brothers’ quality control team has thoroughly reviewed the original contract documents along with (removed member name) complaint and the images attached to it. Our findings are as follows: Image one: (removed member name) says: “sill doesn’t even sit on pier”. Abry Brothers’ says: this image is of old wood and an existing brick footing, Abry Brothers believes the image was taken from an area of the house that was outside of its scope of work (as it was defined in the contract documents). Image two: (removed member name) says: “rebuilt pier missing bricks”. Abry Brothers’ says: it is unclear to us, at this time, what (removed member name) is referring to here. We would ask that she clearly state her complaints as they pertain to this image. Images three and four: (removed member name) says: “floor joist split with improper sistering, not even on sill”. Abry Brothers’ says: The details of this photograph are difficult to decipher, so we would like a supplemental photograph (with a wider angle, perhaps?) before we issue an official response. However, at this time (after preliminary review), we believe this photograph has also been taken from an area in which Abry Brothers was not contracted to preform work. Abry Brothers provided a new, supplemental sill in the same area as it installed the new foundations. As we do not see evidence of new foundation work in this photograph, we deduce that the image was taken from an out of scope area. Image five: (removed member name) says: “paid to get bricks remortared” Abry Brothers’ says: one) as we are sure (removed member name) knows - since she is an expert in the field of real estate - that 4X8 masonry units (bricks) are but a small, decorative part of a pier’s construction. In this case, Abry Brothers did not find that the absence of that brick compromised the structural integrity of the residence. Furthermore, “remortaring” (in the industry we call this tuckpointing) does not appear anywhere in the contract documents and, therefore, is deemed out of scope. Image six: (removed member name) says: “Sill bolted together, notched joist not sitting on Sill, 1 x 6 treated square that has no use” Abry Brothers’ says: After carefully analyzing this upside down photograph, we have determined that this image, too, represents work that was outside of Abry Brothers scope of work. As per the contract, Abry Brothers was obligated to remove wooden shims, replace them with concrete shims, reconstruct the right front corner pier, remove the wood to ground contact and install a new continuous foundation. As is evident from this photograph, none of those services have been rendered here. We believe this to be someone else’s work as well. Again, we are saddened to hear that (removed member name) has had a rough experience. We know, full well, that renovating a home can be an uncommonly trying process. Abry Brothers would be happy to send a representative to meet with (removed member name) to discuss this project, the rectification of her home’s remaining structural issues and the expansion of our scope of work if, she is so inclined.

Jeff came out to our home to do an estimate on repairs we thought we needed. He was incredibly professional, friendly, and really knew what he was talking about. He actually advised us that we did NOT need Abry Brother's service - that a quality carpenter who had experience in framing and a solid reputation would be a better bet. He said that our issue was not so severe that it would warrant any serious shoring, the basement was in great condition and the house was very solid. I was so incredibly impressed. I would recommend them to anyone based upon the integrity they displayed.

Description of Work: About 10 years ago I needed a concrete patio slab jacked up. Mr. Abry came out, looked at the slab, and told me that he could do it, but that he could also tell me how to do it myself (I had mentioned some of the other repairs I'd done, so he knew I could handle it). He spent a little time explaining in detail, how to jack it up and the name of a company that could drive screw piles under the slab to prevent further sinking. I was really impressed with the time he spent with me, without asking for a fee.

Jeff arrived right on time. Was clean, pleasant, and professional. Gave me an honest appraisal of what the house would need, and told me what he thought it would cost to fix it. We decided the repairs are out of my price range at this time. Would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to get the job done right.
