PIPES & PLUGS

One phone call was all it took. An appointment was made and timely kept. The technicians were prompt, courteous and thorough. Because I am so confident in their professionalism, I now have an annual contract with Plugs and Pipes.

This contractor sent multiple family members to my home at all different times. Minimal contact, when asked about progress, they may mumble something to you. The owner had an attitude that he had to (after 1 month of waiting), install a kitchen sink a couple of days before a major holiday, when he knew my family would be solely using that sink. This company kept sending us a bill for services that were not completed. Electrical work left exposed, I have two young children. They finally came and failed to complete job. We came upon an agreement to simply hire someone else and pay another electrician the other half to finish job. The next electrician could not believe all that was left exposed, especially considering that I have small children. I do not know how they stay in business........STAY AWAY!

the sump pump, although no longer working, was rewired incorrectly. company that installed pump inspected it and confirmed it was burned up, but informed that it needed piggy back plug with float switch plug. it had direct plug in installed on it which would have burned it up quickly because it would have run non stop instead of when float switch turned it on. the estimate given for new pump and float switch was about $150 over what original company(D&M Septic) quoted me at.

charged $500 to change two water valves that could not have taken more than an hour for an experienced plumber. never finished repairing a toilet. Quoted $3100 to change an electrical panel. I had it done for $1300.

I have been inspired by Pipes and Plugs to renew my Angie's List subscription to warn consumers in Iberia and Lafayette Parishes to never seek their services. I had a clogged pipe that needed to be fixed. I called Pipes and Plugs for that reason. I was told that all plumbing under my house needed to be replaced. They came to my home on May 21st and disconnected all plumbing under my house to examine and diagnose the problem. I was told that I would not be able to use my bathroom (I only have one) for the next 4 days while they finished another job. I was charged $2300 for parts and labor. When I expressed my concern about the cost, I was told by the plumber to have my "daddy pay for it". Less than 2 weeks later the problem occurred again. I called Pipes and Plugs to come back to my house. A different plumber was sent out. After inspecting the drain he stated that he did not have the equipment to fix the problem and that he would go and get it or send another plumber out. No one showed up until the next day. That plumber spent approximately 2 hours under the house without producing any results. My home was left in a muddy mess and my sink was still unusable. The workers make a point to put booties over their shoes in your presence, but then walk outside and back inside in the same booties rendering them useless. I had mud all over my kitchen and bathroom floors as well as my shower curtain. The plumber came back two days later and realized the problem was coming from a vent pipe in the attic. That pipe was cleaned out and miraculously my sink could now drain properly. I was charged an additional $300 for this. I attempted to contact the Pipes and Plugs office on several occasions to express my concern about the fact that I paid a total of $2600 for a problem that could have cost me $300. I made it clear that I wanted to speak to the owner to ask for my money back. I was continuously told by office staff that he had stepped out. I was finally contacted by a "customer service troubleshooter" who insisted that everything they did was necessary and I had been charged accordingly. I told him that I did not agree and would still like to speak to the owner. I never received a call. I never received an invoice describing the initial work which I was told that I was supposed to have received the first day they were there. Both of the receipts that I received for the work done have the wrong name on them. Pictures taken in the attic of the clogged vent pipe were supposed to have been sent to me. I provided them with my email address, but have never received the pictures. I have called the office twice more to express concern about unecessary work that was done and about how I was treated and have not had the courtesy of a call back. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to which Pipes and Plugs responded with inaccuracies and outright lies. I am astonished at the lack of respect and professionalism exhibited by both the plumbers and office staff at Pipes and Plugs and I urge you to seek plumbing services elsewhere.

I've used them in the past. They are expensive but do a good job. The problem is that the accounting department is more concerned with payment than getting the job done. Before dispatching a person they called me back to verify (not sure why they had to verify again) and I wasn't able to answer. Instead of leaving a voice mail they simply didn't go to the jobsite. The broken pipe was not repaired for six hours. I called them to find out the status and they said it was my fault because I didn't answer my phone. I asked them to go again. They called with a price, I ok'ed it, and gave them a debit card since they are so worried about getting paid. They insisted I did not have an account. Two weeks later I got a statement of account showing I hadn't paid the bill! I called and tried to explain to the lady on the phone that I need a vendor that will respond or at least leave a voice mail before ignoring a work request. She insisted it was all my fault. I paid immediately with a debit card and they then billed me. Go figure. They need a new accounting department.

See above. I am greatly surprised that on 05/14/11 I received my voided check with a letter of apology from the company. I could not believe it; but, am willing to give them another try on another occasion, if necessary.

two fixtures were very easy for them to change, one was more difficult, it took about 3 hours of work. They do very good work, are prompt and very professional but are pretty expensive.

We discovered the leak on Friday, called the gas co & they shut it down that night saying we couldn't get it turned back on until repaired. We called Pipes & Plugs to see about getting the job done quickly. They did come on Monday to give us the estimate. Work was scheduled to start the following week. They worked 1 day, then it rained the next & ground was still wet the next day, then it was the weekend, so work didn't resume until the next week. Once they did finish, it was so late in the day that we couldn't get the gas co back for another day. All total of 12 days without gas (no heat, no cooking, no hot water). A few days later it rained again and a very very long divot ditch appeared along side the driveway. We called to complain & to get a repair. They came a few days later, but said it was still too wet. So, we are still waiting for that part to get fixed. I must say that although their truck was nice, the appearance of the staff was not very professional.

Over two days, Kerry and his crew preformed the above work flawlessly and professionally. Once I called, I was given an estimate in a couple of days and work began a few days after that. The price I was charged was exactly the same as the estimate. Kerry even did a few extra things at no charge (rewired a few outlets).
