We put our house on the market to sell and I received a call one day at about 12:30 pm from my Realtor informing me an agent with another realty company requested to show my house within 30 minutes and asked if that would be OK with us. We agreed since all Realtors who have access to the key box are licensed and are assumed professional. Theodora Estes, a Realtor in the Monroe, Louisiana area was the Realtor who requested to show our home to a client of hers. We have an indoor pet, a dachshund, and stipulated that our pet was to remain inside. When our son returned from school at about 4 pm, he found our pet outside, roaming the neighborhood and both our patio door and front doors both unlocked. I complained to our Realtor about this incident who called Ms Estes. My Realtor reported back to me that Ms Estes told them she was very afraid of dogs and let the dog outside for her own safety. She also told them that she asked some construction workers nearby to try to catch our dog and put her in our gated back yard, which they did not do. She left our property with our dog OUTSIDE and our home UNLOCKED. She didn t even have the decency to call us or our Realtor to let someone know she let our dog out and was unable to get the dog back in. This is completely unacceptable and she has been barred from showing our house ever again.

Response from Theadora Estis
MOST OF THE INFORMATION IS CORRECT BUT THE TIMELINESS ARE WRONG. WHEN I CALLED THE LISTING OFFICE, I SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF ANY DOGS, PETS OR ALARMS WERE PRESENT (INSIDE). I WAS TOLD "NO". I HEARD THE DOG BARKING, AND SAW HIM LOOSE AS I OPENED THE DOOR. I THEN CALLED THE LISTING AGENT AND WAS TOLD THE DOG WAS BEHIND A CHILD'S GATE - BARRED FROM THE OTHER PART OF THE HOUSE. I THEN TRIED TO USE THE FRONT DOOR WHICH WAS BARRED. MY CUSTOMER WAS AFRAID ALSO. SO I TOLD THE LISTING AGENT THAT THERE WAS A ROOFER DOING WORK NEXT DOOR AND WOULD IT BE OKAY TO ASK HIS HELP. HE SAID YES AND THAT THE DOG COULD BE PLACED OUTSIDE IN THE GATED YARD. WHEN WE ENTERED, A CAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND SPOOKED BOTH OF US. MY CUSTOMER RAN OUT AND WOULD NOT RETURN. I WENT OUT TO HER AND THOUGHT I RETURNED TO CLOSE THE DOOR. I HAD ASKED THE LISTING AGENT TO COME OUT DURING MY INITIAL CALL ABOUT THE DOG.
