+ -1 moreBack to back upstairs bath flushing sluggish and toilets reacting with each other. Ran camera to verify clog and used cable through 3" vents to insure clog was cleared. The office staff responded quickly to my request of sending a plumber to my home to determine the problem. The technician arrived on time, quickly determine the cause of the clog, and fixed the problem. I was completely satisfied with the knowledge of the technician and would use this company again for any plumbing needs.

+ 1 moreHard to go into details because the workmen were in every way more than I expected even though I had once used Earls for something much more minor.
Description of Work: My hot water heater of 28 years + busted and was leaking out a pipe under my house. I had used Earl's plumbing once after Katrina for an acute pipe leak under my house and Earl came out on a late Saturday night to fix it. These guys were unbelieveably nice , professional, knew exactly what was happening, my overflow pan of the hot water heater was full and they patiently drained it, put in a new heater timely, cleaned up their mess, were happy to check other things for future reference and I can't possibly say enough good things about them. Everything was better than expected.

Perfect experience, b/c I had no New Orleans plumbing knowledge at all. I picked Earl's b/c of its Angie rating. The company scheduler called me ahead of time to give me the time of service. I really appreciated the call, b/c I didn't want to sit in the condo all day and wait. I was out shopping, when the call came. We made arrangements to meet at the condo at a prescribed time. The truck and uniform identified the worker. I'm 100% happy with the results.

+ -1 moreI phoned on Thursday, August 31, I believe, leaving a message that I had two inches of water in my basement and needed help finding a solution. Rhonda called back promptly the next morning to tell me that they don't deal with my problem. I phoned her back and she offered me a number for a company who could pump out my basement. She tried to be helpful. PROBLEM: I was disappointed in this highly recommended company, because no one was really interested in listening to my problem or finding out if they could actually help me. They seem to be very linear thinkers and stopped abruptly when they heard something that did not jibe with what they wanted to do. I explained to Rhonda that the water had receded and tried to let her know a fuller scope of the problem. She said that she would talk to someone and get back to me, but naturally that has not occurred. I state above that I would not use this provider again, because it is required to complete a review. Since I have not actually used this provider I can't say that I wouldn't used them. I am displeased at their unwillingness to have someone with any expertise in the area listen to the problem. It is very hard to find people who can be relied upon for their services, so I thought that Angie's List would be the perfect place to turn, but these people are listed in the WRONG CATEGORY for their services if they don't address drainage issues.
Description of Work: Because I had two inches of water in my basement during Hurricane Isaac, I determined that I needed help with drainage. So I went to Angie's List to look for recommended professionals. I put in Drain Pipe Installation-Exterior. One of the top few was Earls Plumbing and Heating. I called them to get help with my problem. I was interested in one of the reviews that said the company did some hydro-tunneling work under their slab. As I have a slab and my water bills are $240-250 every month I thought that these might be the people for me: install exterior drain pipes and fix the likely underslab problems that are causing the horrible water bills and possibly contributing to the water issue.

+ -1 moreThe crew arrived relatively promptly and immediately got to work. They ran cameras in only 2 of 5 cleanouts. They appeared to do the absolute minimum they could get away with. I don't know if they broke one of the cleanout covers and replaced it, but when they left, one cleanout cover had been replaced and one was still left wide open. I had to ask them to pressurize the system to check the internal pipes, they seemed like they couldn't be bothered even though I asked them to check out both the drainage and the supply lines to make sure there were no problems. They found an obstruction and drew up a report. They estimated it would cost between $1200-$3200 to do the repairs. Of course, when they finally submitted a bid, it was the maximum cost.
Description of Work: I hired them to do a video inspection of newly-purchased property plumbing.

They explained the problem and had the needed supplies on the truck to replace the water heater right then and there. Within a couple of hours from the initial call, my problem was resolved. Description of Work: My hubby woke up this morning and had no hot water for a shower. I called Earl's and told them that I had a 12 year old 50 gallon electric water heater that was not producing hot water. They sent a plumber and his helper to my house within the hour. The water heater was leaking at the top and going onto the electrical wires. We were fortunate to have caught this problem so quickly. They had a new water heater on the truck and it was installed by noon.

I was concerned that the water would seep into the den and ruin the wood floors. Earl's Plumbing came out the same day. They had to replace the hot water heater and bring the air vent, which goes through the roof, up to code. They had everything they needed with them and did the work after I approved the exact price quote they gave me. They worked quickly, quietly, and acted in a very polite and professional manner. They cleaned up any mess they made and took the old one with them to dispose. I would definitely use them again and would certainly recommend them.

+ 0 moreExtremely well. No one ever wants to have a problem like this, but if it's going to happen, you want exactly the sort of knowledgeable, fast, courteous service provided by Earl's.
Description of Work: I live in a second-story condominium. The downstairs unit owner smelled a gas leak on a Sunday. Entergy came to shut off the gas and determined that a gas line under the building had been rusted through due to some kind of plumbing leak in the downstairs unit owner's bathroom. I called Earl's first thing on Monday morning to see when they could come out. They answered the phone right away and they were able to come that very day, in the afternoon. Two workers came and wrote out a detailed cost estimate with a detailed description of the problem (toilet leak in lower unit had rusted through the gas line). They took time to talk with me. They mentioned a choice I had between higher-quality materials (galvanized replacement pipes) and cheaper materials. They said they would do either, but clearly explained the pros and cons. I chose the higher-cost/higher-quality materials because of their explanation (no more rusting through). I thought it was really impressive that they took this opportunity to educate me and give me the choice rather than just railroading me into more expensive materials. The very next day (Tuesday) they performed the work, replacing a 20 foot section of gas pipe underneath the building and hooking everything back up. It took them a while but they kept at it. The technicians were extremely courteous; they had to come upstairs a couple times to test the pressure in the new gas lines and they always explained everything they were doing. They had to use our automatic gate opener to get in and out and they were very careful about monitoring entrance/exit and returning the opener. They cleaned up completely. They also worked with the owner downstairs to replace the original problem (toilet leak). The downstairs owner thought they were wonderful and used Earl's to fix his portion of the gas pipes and the leaky toilet. The total came out to just a little less than the original estimate. Payment by credit card was easy and fast. Best of all, included in the cost was that Earl's managed the whole process of getting the repair inspected and getting Entergy to come back out and turn the gas back on. Their master plumber and an inspector came on on Wednesday, electronically transmitted the inspection/approval to Entergy, and Entergy was there that afternoon to turn everything back on. That part in itself was worth a fortune.

Description of Work: This company did some tunneling work under my house to fix broken pipes (I had an estimate from a well-known national company, and this company was far below that estimate). They also fixed a toilet and installed a new water heater. I was told today that the toilet they fixed needs to be replaced, but the cost of the prior repairs would go toward the new toilet. How fair can you get?

Described in detail the problem and the fix: "add a spacer and replace the seal." The pre-work esimate. was $149 -- Angie's discount applied -- $119 was the final bill and they didn't charge for the spacer. Very pleasant & professional and area was totally cleaned. No problems since. Definitely use these guys."
