The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office as issued a warrant for the arrest of Keven Caside. It turns out he has victimized other customers. About a month ago his attorney, Tom Hand, contacted me to ask how to resolve the matter. I explained that I would need the full payment returned, plus the fees for filing a lawsuit in small claims court. I never heard back from him. Shortly afterwards Mr. Caside called me himself, admitting that he owed me the money and would repay me through the courts. It seemed he tried making some kind of deal with me such that if he repaid me I would remove the warrant for his arrest. I told him that I would let the Sheriff's Office know. This all occurred about three weeks ago, and I have since not heard back from Mr. Caside. The status is that there is still a warrant for his arrest, and even if he repays me he will still be arrested for his other crimes. According to the Louisiana Board of Licensing for Contractors, Mr. Caside's license has been revoked. I urge anyone dealing with Mr. Caside under any company name (not just Southeast Shoring) verify this information by resources easily obtained online.
Description of Work: This provider did nothing, and has still not returned the down payment he took from me.

It was horrible. I actually researched these guys on the local BBB website. They had an A- rating, and no complaints, so I figured they were trustworthy. The owner--Keven Caside--is a very professional, intelligent, and well-spoken person. This is mostly why I gave the company so many chances to start the job. I even explained to Mr. Caside that I had had rotten luck with contractors, and that I was looking for someone dependable who could help me out. He ensured me that he would provide superior service and he continued to assure me in that regard. It's downhill from there, however. I contracted the job with Southeast Shoring and Construction in May of 2012. The total cost of the two jobs was $1,000, and I was asked to pay a 65% down payment. I didn't realize at the time this was far too much money for a down payment. The Licensing Board recommends no more than a 10% down payment, if anything at all. Anyway, the job was supposed to start literally the next day, but I got a phone call from Mr. Caside noting that the person handling the appointments was ill, and that they'd start the job the next week. Long story short, this ill person died, so my job was delayed yet again. Due to the unusually wet summer, there were more delays. Mr. Caside carefully explained that there needs to be at least 48 hours of consecutive dry days before a roof can be laid. He also said something about the moisture not allowing the glue strips to seal. During the dry spells, still no work was accomplished. About two months into the contract, shingles were delivered. However, it was now hurricane season, which meant I needed to hurry and get the roof work done. Two months later, there was still no work accomplished, and Hurricane Isaac was on the way. I called Mr. Caside to remove the shingles because of the danger of flying debris. My phone call was not returned until well after the hurricane had passed. The storm flung the shingles across my front yard, and I injured myself retrieving the very heavy panels. It was a nightmare. My roof was now leaking badly so I desperately needed a contractor to make repairs. I joined Angie's List and found a wonderful contractor. Mr. Caside promised to refund my deposit, but after five months of waiting, I have received nothing!!! There is a warrant out for the arrest of Keven Caside. It was issued in the first week of December, 2012. Not only did he defraud me of my down payment, but it seems he has defrauded others, as well. He has been in trouble before. I saw his mug shot in a photo lineup. This guy is a criminal. STAY AWAY FROM HIM!! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!! They will just take your money!!!
Description of Work: No service was performed. They were supposed to install a back splash in my kitchen and replace a worn section of roof, but no work was ever performed.
