Comfort Tech was sent by our home warranty company in response to a claim that our Mitsubishi mini split heat pump was not cooling. They arrived and indicated that the board on the outdoor unit needed to be replaced and that the compressor "may" need to be replaced, but they couldn't be sure until the board was replaced. I was told by the technician that they would get back to me the next day as to whether it would be covered by the home warranty company or by the manufacturer warranty. Three days later after three phone calls they responded that the entire outdoor unit needed to be replaced and was not covered by either the home warranty or the manufacturer warranty. The quote was over 3k. I informed them the unit was two years old, that I had contacted the manufacturer and confirmed its install and warranty registration date and that it was still under warranty. I also informed them that I had the warranty registration and purchase information and could provide it, if needed. They indicated they would look into it and get back to me. About fifteen minutes later they called back and indicated it was not covered under warranty. I contacted another company who came out and diagnosed the issue the same day (the compressor needed to be replaced), contacted the local parts distributor and confirmed the compressor was under warranty (parts only) and quoted the labor price to replace the compressor. Thousands saved.
