On August 8, 2023, Michael Smith of Uncle Sam's Moving Corps came to my apartment to discuss moving me and my family's furniture and personal property from Covington, LA to New Orleans, LA. He quoted a price of $3,600 for the complete move and insisted on being paid upfront via Venmo. In return, he would provide 6 men and 2 trucks who would move the contents one 1150 square foot apartment, two 10x25' storage units and one 10x10' storage unit all in one day. We paid the agreed upon $3600 in 2 payments and a moving day and time of 9 am on August 12, 2023. At 12:45 pm on August 12, 2023, one truck and four men arrived to begin the move. We were told one truck was sent to move someone else to Carencro, LA and the truck they sent to us had broken down and they had to rent a truck. They loaded half the contents of the apartment and delivered them to the New Orleans address that day. The truck was less than half full. On August 16th, a second load of furniture from the apartment and some boxes from the 10x10' storage unit were packed into a truck. They started late due to a broken truck (2nd). We were informed by the movers at 4 pm that it was late in the day and they we're finished for the day and they would deliver what they had loaded, which again was a less than half full truck, the following day. The third and last failed attempt to complete the move occurred on August 21, 2023. They loaded some of the contents of the two 10x25' units, but another half full truck. After this third failure to complete the job, Michael Smith became increasingly difficult to get to obtain a response from. I threatened him with legal action, he did begin answering the phone, briefly, he promised he hadn't forgotten about us and that he was going to complete the job and/or issue us a refund, neither ever materialized. On December 12, 2023, I hired another mover who completed the job. I paid him $3900.

I had this company scheduled for a load only job today. When I first set up this appointment two weeks ago, I got the feeling they were a little unorganized and went against my better judgement and used them anyways. BIG MISTAKE. These people show up without any equipment and late, and flat out refuse to load my uhaul because it’s not directly in front of my house. I live in the French quarter and there’s not always parking right in front. It’s extremely close and I gave the option of parking it across the street on the curb. The owner of this so called company shows up with two boys and refuses. This load would’ve taken less than 45 minutes. He said it was my fault and the absolute audacity. Do not ever use this company. Completely unprofessional and rude. I should’ve gone with my instinct upfront. Lesson learned. So now, I am waiting on another moving company where I have to pay $600 since it’s last minute. This man caused me to lose money and time. I am moving out of state and needed to be on the rode by now. The most unprofessional joke of a company. Please save yourself the trouble.

We obtained several bids on this move job and this moving company owner was very responsive about coming out and giving us the estimate, including asking many questions as to exactly what we wanted moved. (We moved TVs and artwork ourselves.) Company gave us the second best bid and it was not based upon an hourly price, but was a set total price, which was what we wanted in order to contain the costs. They were supposed to start at 8 a.m. on the day of the move, but called the day before to tell us they would be a couple of hours late, then called again at 9:45 a.m. on the day of the move to say they would be another hour or so. Arrived at 11:45 a.m., but did not have any shrink wrap so had to go purchase some. They had 2 trucks and 4 men, but forgot to bring the extra trailer to carry our riding lawn mower. Although it was a VERY hot day, the men did seem to hustle but it still took more than 7 hours to load up. Halfway through, they ran out of rugs to wrap the furniture and had to go rent some more. We finally got to our new home in Covington at 9 p.m. and they finished unloading at 1 a.m. While installing the fridge we later learned that a part was left out. Several wood furniture pieces were slightly damaged and owner promised he would get back with us to fix, plus he would make separate arrangements to move lawn mower. I texted him once when I didn't hear from him, but no response. While we do not believe the company completed the terms of our contract, we really didn't want to deal with them anymore, so just let it go.

We relocated to Louisiana, ourselves from a 2600 sq ft home with both and attic and a basement (not incl in the sq ft). We moved into a 1400 sq ft home that and was previously furnished with odd-ends furniture. We initially moved our stuff into a storage unit. The old odd-end stuff went to an estate company, Salvation Army, Goodwill and the dump. We desparately needed a finite amount of assistance; most moving companies wanted to charge us for services we didn't need. We contacted Uncle Sam - he happened to have an opening from an appointment that was postponed. So we lucked out on that account. We negotiated an equitable price for the days worth of work for two movers and a truck. We had a 10x18 ft storage unit filled. The crew of two professional guys came with a truck. Help us sort through the furniture and boxes we needed to bring to our house and re-stack/store the items that needed to keep in storage. We were able to reduce our storage unit to a 5x18 ft unit. The movers moved all my furniture, set up the beds, placed the dressers, the tables, living room furniture and stacked the boxes by destination rooms. They were professional, prompt, courteous and hard working. We highly recommend Uncle Sam movers for your moving needs.

Provider was to move items from local storage yard to my 2nd home. All moving was to be local, in town. Provider told me the cost was to be $500 and he asked for my credit card/debit card. We agreed to the schedule for the move. However, after several cancellations for the move was made by the provider, I was not going to pay the agreed $500 and wanted a cheaper rate to move my items. We agreed on $400. On the day of the move, I gave the provider a $400 check, unknowing that he also ran my debit card for the original $500. So now my local move was $900 and not the agreed $400. Many attempts were made in trying to get the provider to refund my $500 and always he had a sad story and kept on putting me off. I will contact the local BBB and notify them of this providers shady services and unprofessional way of doing business. I am now working with my bank to dispute the $500 charge.

They did really a good job but I wasn't happy with the packing that they did. Since its ran by former marine, I feel that its a very good organization and they certainly gave me a good price in the moving, they worked around our timeline very good. They did a great job working around our limitation and time situation.
Description of Work: We used Uncle Sam's Moving Company, they did some packing with us because we were running out of time and they provided boxes for us, 50% of our boxes.
