S & S MOVING

I called S&S because by budget was meager. I spoke to Mary. The reviews on this moving company were poor for this company in the yellow pages but I called anyway because a girlfriend had used them. I explained the situation to Mary and also my expressed my concern for qualtiy. There were lots of reviews that the movers add on costs after the initial quote. Mary sent me an email stating that the cost would be $98 for two men and a truck. I asked her to send me an email. They arrived an hour late and I knew when they got there that it was going to be a long day. The lead mover never took his ear phone off once and was arrogant and agumentative. His helper even argued with him at one point. He refused to use a dolly to load boxes. I have never seen this and I had a lot of boxes--more boxes than furniture. One by one, very slowly they loaded boxes. I spoke to the movers about using a dolly-- (I had two) but he refused saying he knew exactly what he was doing. They took hours to dismantle every piece of furniture and rolled excessive wrap around. (no one mentioned I had to pay for wrap) By three pm, they werent near done. I spoke to them and asked them about the delay but they said these things take time. I only had one refrigerator and a bedroom dresser and bed with micellaneous book cases etce. It was approximately a half of a homes contents. We didn't leave the start location, my home until late in the evening. The unload was unbearable. They were slower. The didn't reassemble anything becuase the said to do that it would take more hours. I ended up with a bookcase and no bookshelves! The refrigerator would not fit in through the door. And the lead mover said he could make it work but he would be here until 2am doing it. I had to put my refrigerator in storage. By 11pm they finally finished. There charged me for 11 hours of moving plus $144.00 passover taxes. I knew this was bogus but it was late at night and I was vulnerable. I paid and called Tom the next day. He never returned my call. I called again on Wednesday- he never returned my call. This company is disreputable and dishonest. I have posted the review anywhere I can and I have sent a letter to the Attorney General's office.

I booked a move with Tom from S and S moving in Slidell......I was quoted a price of $98.00 for the truck and $98.00 an hour for two men. I was told it was considered a local move from Marrero to Slidell. When move was completed, I was presented a bill for $550.00 which included a $60.00 FUEL CHARGE. This was never discussed! My budget was $500.00 and this could cause quite a hardship for people when not told the proper information. I tipped the two men $50.00 as they worked very hard but, ultimately, I felt cheated by the undisclosed price.
