Description of Work: The main water line on my property runs through a gully. On 12/23/11, around 2:00am, in a thunderstorm, a piece of a log floated down the gully and broke the line running across the gully. I called Able around 8:00 am. I was told the cost would be $80. per hour for the plumber to come out. Around 10:00 am, a plumber and an "assistant" arrived. They spent three hours digging and looking for where the pipe that had been broken off needed to be connected. After three hours, I was told they could not find the location of the pipe and they would have to bring in a backhoe to dig up the line. This could not be done until Tuesday (four days later). They apologized for not being able to help and left me to be without water for four days (including Christmas). Later the same day, a friend came over--in 20 minutes located the pipe locations, connected a water hose to the main line and ran it through an outside spicket into the house. Perfect temporary fix until neighbor was able to permanently fix the problem. Obviously, the men sent had no idea what they were doing. When the bill arrived, I was billed for 3 hours work @ $80. an hour for the plumber (I had agreed to this) PLUS and additonal $80. for his "assistant" (never mentioned, thus never agreed to, in the initial call). I paid $330. for two men to dig in my yard and accomplish NOTHING, leaving me with the prospect of having no water for four days. I will NEVER use this company again and DO NOT recommend their services.

Description of Work: The plumber was dispatched to the home to clean out the sewer line because the washing machine was backing up into the tub. He began the work and was in and out of the house several times during the process. Each time he removed his boots and was careful to be neat and not track the floors. During the time he was there, he discovered that he needed additional equipment and called for another plumber to bring it. While they were working to clean the sewer line, the first plumber was injured and left for the hospital. A third plumber was called out to complete the job. Three trucks, four plumbers and six hours later I was presented with a bill which was MUCH less than what I expected, considering how the service call went. Each of the workmen were respectful and clean. The clean out process was unsuccessful, but they left the home with a 'work-around' solution until we could have the old clay sewer pipe replaced. The estimate for that work was reasonable and they performed that process two weeks later.

Description of Work: changed out trap and mechanically cleared line. Also suggested some things to be done that would help me out in the future and at a low cost. great timely and fair service.

Description of Work: I called Able plumbing to repair a ruptured hot water line in the slab under our kitchen. Someone came out that afternoon and looked it over. Someone called the next day with a quote and said they would have to cut out a wall to see where the line went through the slab and go from there.

Description of Work: We have rental property and have used Able on several occasions. On one of their visits, they (two men) left the job and didn't come back until almost 5:00 PM. The bathroom floor was out and our carpenter was waiting to put it back together. On another visit to the same address, they replaced the sewer pipe; but didn't follow the route of the old one and it stopped up again. They had to come back and re-do a good portion of it - we paid them for this. They've been called to our personal residence to unstop a sewer line. They told us they couldn't do it and that we needed to call a jet truck. I did and later found out (from the plumber who fixed the problem) that a jet truck can destroy your sewer line. They also tried to fix a toilet in our house; it still won't flush without jiggling the handle - so we have to call someone else. We've sent Able (Maury) a letter stating that on some of the plumbing parts, we were over charged (according to our check at Lowe's and Home Depot). We are paying him off to the tune of $100 a month.
