It went well. Highly professional.
Description of Work: Leakage from the central aircondtioner pan. Stopped the leakage. did the excellent job of cleaning up the pans, coils and all messed up areas. Installed a key to cut off the power if any leakage occurs in future. Also as a precautionary measure technician checked out the outside unit and made sure everything is working well.

On Friday, May 31st, I called Surgi's to come out because of it being extremely warm inside. I had changed the batteries in the thermostat, but that didn'thelp. They sent Wayland out on Saturday. He said that the unit needed freon and he put in about 4 lbs of it. He also said that I had a leak, but in order to find it, he would have to charge me an additional $135 to trace it. I decided to wait on that because he explained that by all probability, the evaporator coils might need to be changed and that would be almost as much as replacing the air handler unit. Since my unit is a Trane and 15 years old, I decided to wait. When he presented me with the bill, there were additional charges for labor to put in the freon and to clean the outside only of the condensing unit which he did with a hose. The original bill was $414.95 less 15% from a coupon on Angie's list which they honored. So, the net was $352.71. I gave him a check for this amount. On Monday, I reached out to the owner, Craig Johnson and explained to him that I was somewhat dismayed because Wayland had not told me about the additional charges which totaled $85. Craig apologized for that and offered to only charge me the initial service call less 15%, but I told him that I would be more than willing to pay for the freon (4 lbs) and the service call, just not the additional fees. So, he offered to reimburse me the difference which included another $60 for the freon because Wayland had misquoted the price. Per Craig it was less. Because of this company's very strong reputation and credibility in the market, I would most certainly use them again as I do understand how these types of things happen from time to time and from my view point, in no way does it have a negative reflection on this company. I am satisfied for the manner in which they handled the situation and I will certainly give them the opportunity to bid on replacing my unit when the time comes.

Surgi's provided top notch service! The professionalism we received from the owner and all of the crew was superb! The owner spoke to my husband and answered all questions, concerns we had, which helped us choose the best unit for us. In addition, the guy who came out to give us the estimate was terrific. When we made our final decision, we were scheduled within a few days to receive service. Two men came to replace our unit; they showed up on time, were extremely courteous, professional, and worked hard to get the job done. It was incredibly hot in our attic and they worked through it without one complaint. They cleaned up after the job was complete and even swept my floors! We would absolutely recommend Surgi's to anyone - they were great to work with!!!

They came out the day I called them and then sent the quote within the next two days. Within one week the unit was installed and I was a happy customer!
Description of Work: They were wonderful! I had a few different quotes but they were the most thorough in the assessment and then the quote. Felt comfortable moving forward with them even though they were not the most affordable quote.

This was a special job. The customer had a new condenser installed on the sloped roof on the rear of her home. The original installer had made a stand out of treated lumber which was falling apart. The condenser was in danger of falling into her kitchen. We were able to fabricate a galvanized metal stand, welded out of angle iron, sealed her roof and mounted it to her roof rafters. The condenser was then attached to the stand making it wind proof for future storms. It was a fun project and we thank her for the kind words.

We called them out. The tech. called and diagnosed over the phone that we have a bad compressor and it would need to be replaced. When he arrived he did a preliminary inspection and checked the circuit box. Then he very quickly ran off to give us an estimate to replace the entire compressor to the tune of $3,000-$5,000. He could get us going with a new unit as soon as tomorrow. After he left the office also called to see if we were going to give the go ahead on getting the new unit. Going with our gut feeling that this may not be the case we got a second opinion. It was a minor part that was worn out because our electricians who had recently redone our electric boxes ran it on a breaker that was too small. That was it. Not a good inspection and a terrible diagnosis. The only thing that was good was that they didn't charge us for the estimate or service charge. They assumed they'd get that back when we hired them to tear our house apart to replace an entire unit that only needed one new part. Ugh. Always get second opinions is my advice. UPDATE: After writing the above review I received a letter of apology in the mailbox from Surgi for their techs behavior. They offered a sincere apology and an incentive if I'd ever want to give their company another chance. That was a nice surprise and proved that, obviously, someone over there cares.

And we agree. It is a mistake for anyone to attempt to diagnose a problem on the phone or to rush through a diagnosis without a thorough inspection and analysis. If this customer had contacted our office about her concerns we would have sent a second serviceman to confirm the original diagnosis. She makes a good point about getting a second opinion. Surgi’s offers free second opinions on any service call performed by another company. We find that 40% of the customers who request this service have been given the wrong diagnosis or a partial diagnosis. We are sharing this customer’s experience with our service department to emphasize the need to be thorough and not base a diagnosis on the age and condition of the system or the assumption that the electrical system has remained unchanged. We offer our sincere apology to this customer and of course will credit any charges incurred during this visit. Hopefully, she will accept our discount on the purchase of a replacement system when the time comes to replace it.

Mike did a great job explaining the problem and also talking us over the ptions regards getting a new heating/cooling system. We asked for a proposal to replace our old ( 1987) system and he provided us several options.
Description of Work: Mike came out promptly, diagnosed and found a very small freon leak from the evaporator coil and explained options. He recharged the system and checked to see we were getting good cooling.

The air condition in my rental home went out on Tues April 2nd, & I called Surgi's on Wednesday afternoon after work to get a quote on replacing the old unit in my rental home, as well as the unit in my own home that had been giving me trouble. Within 2 hours, Art B., the salesman was at my house. This may not sound like a big deal, but I had called 2 other places & they could not come until the next day. Art went over my options with me with great description, & then left. I had told him I would contemplate whether I would accept or not. What I liked most about this exchange, was that Art did not push me one way or the other. I have been doing slight renovations to my home over the last few months, & have had experiences with pushy salesman more than once. It was a blessing to have someone just say, "Hey, its on you, think about it and let me know". At one point he even advised that I downgrade from the 4 ton unit I had in my downstairs, for it was too big for the space I had. In other words, he was looking out for what was best for me & not necessarily trying to make extra money on me. That is how customer service should be. For someone that does not know anything about A/C(myself), this was comforting to me. As I stated before, my A/C went out on Tuesday, they quoted me on Wednesday, & started work on Thursday morning. They replaced the A/C in my rental unit on Thursday, & then on Friday came back and completed the downstairs of my own home. Both of the workers that came out were very professional. So professional that I felt I could leave them alone in my home both of the days they were working, & they did not let me down. They kept me in the loop the whole time, and after they were done, cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely recommend Surgi's. It is not every day you get both great customer service, as well as A+ work. While writing a $9k check will always make you cringe, I definitely felt justified by the work they put in. Thank you Surgi's.

A/C unit was running but not cooling. Being January this was not urgent. Did my homework on Angie's List and found Surgi's who had outstanding reviews. Called them Friday, 1./18/13. They wanted to come out that very day! My schedule and the weather was such that I scheduled for morning of 1/22/13. Mr, Chauvin called before coming. He arrived as scheduled, His work was professional, quick, thorough. While there he also did A/C checkup which was overdue. Ended up cleaning the compressor, adding 2# freon, and replacing the capacitor. He was not pushy at all. He was also respectful and very pleasant. I would certainly call this company again. In fact, I intend to use them for my annual service. There was also a discount for first service call and on parts for Angie's List members. Lagniappe!!!

My A/C went out over the weekend. Called at 8:15 Monday morning & was told a serviceman would call within a hour. I mentioned my Angie's List Coupon before hanging up the phone. John called 20 minutes later. He was on his way TO work & I was on the way. He came by 15 minutes later, checked the unit and said the circuit panel was bad. He did not have the part with him, but he did a temporary bypass for the unit to run. The temperature was in the upper 70's-low 80's. He gave me the seniors discount for the service call. He said he would call when the part was available. To my surprise he call that afternoon and said Surgi's had gotten the need part and he would come by and replace it on it way home, IF that was OK. It didn't take long and John gave me the coupon discount from Angie's list for the part (15%). John was great, as was the first person I spoke to. I would use them again and recommend them highly

If problems had not been addressed as quickly as they had been, I would not have recommended them. Hopefully now that it is December, all issues are resolved.
Description of Work: I wanted to remove the old window a/c units and install ductless technology .. Surgis provided a very competitive quote and agreed to start the work in June -- the system was not installed until September .. since installation we have had many issues .. but to their credit, they are ALWAYS responsive, and send repairman very quickly.

The new AC was originally installed in March of 2012. The installation went smoothly and the workers left my home in as clean as they found it. A few months later, I noticed the unit was running constantly so I called Surgi's and they sent out a repairman the next day. He found the freon level was low and refilled it. After a few days, when the problem continued, so I called Surgi's again and they sent the repairman out again. He found the freon was low again, but was unable to find a leak to explain the lower level. He then scheduled a time to come out and do a complete system diagnostic. When he came again, he discovered there was no leak, but a faulty part. The part was ordered and they came out a final time to fix the problem. While I wish the problem could have been fixed on the first visit, I appreciate the fact that Surgi's was dedicated to fixing the problem and continued to troubleshoot until they figured out the problem.

I had Surgi's come out to perform an estimate on my AC/Heating system for a potential replacement. The serviceman was brusque and surly, and he informed me that I needed a new system. He then tried to sell me something I didn't want, and I decided to investigate the faulty system with a different company. The other company came out, and performed a similar estimate. Shortly after, Surgi's sent me a bill. It was labeled 'Diagnostic Fee'. Having a legal background, I know that they were not upfront about this, it is not the industry standard to bill for an estimate, there were no services performed, I never consented as such. After speaking with the owner of the company this morning, I was disappointed that he approached the situation in a bullying fashion and threatened me with a bill collection agency rather than trying to resolve the issue as individuals. Simply put, the owner is contentious, a bully, and carries out his business by tricking unwary, potential clients. I refuse to pay a $90 bill for absolutely nothing.

Surgi’s offers free estimates, free second opinions and service calls for a fee. If a customer wishes an estimate, a sales person is notified and there is no charge. If a customer has a paid invoice from another air conditioning company less than 30 days old, Surgi’s will confirm the other company’s diagnosis at no charge. If a customer’s system is broken and they wish to see if it can be repaired a service fee of $89.95 is charged and a serviceman is dispatched. After a diagnosis, the serviceman will give the customer his recommendation and the option to repair or replace the system. Often, the cost of the service call is credited against the price of replacement. We make every effort to make these options clear to every customer when they call. In this case the customer wanted to know if the system could be repaired and was explained our policies. He chose a serviceman and then refused payment. Although our $89.95 fee is one of the lower diagnostic fees in the city, we credited his account for the entire amount and chalked it up to miscommunication. His follow-up in Angie’s List is surprising and regrettable.

Surgi's Heating & Air Conditioning were professional but very expensive. The work involved disconnecting both units and reinstalling them on a flat front; that is a lot of work but they were the highest priced.
Description of Work: Surgi's Heating & Air Conditioning gave me a quote for replacing a condenser in one air conditioner and a coil in another unit.

Thanks to this customer for his consideration and kind words. Surgi's bid was for 15 seer Trane equipment and included insulated freon lines, refrigerant dryers, proper refrigerant charges, sealing of air leaks on plenum and transition, new emergency drain pan, emergency cutoff, relocation of condensers on a roof and two system start-ups. We could have bid a lower price, if asked, by using lower quality equipment and re-using some of the existing materials but we have found this approach less than satisfying to the customer in the long run. Art was able to move up my installation a few days as it was hot and I had no AC in the master bedroom. Showed up on time in the morning, and was finished by early afternoon. Unit is cool and quiet. Left the house nice and clean. This is the second unit they have done for me. Would highly recommend.
Description of Work: Removed an old 2 ton Carrier unit along with the furnace and air handler. Replaced with a 2 ton Trane XB13, furnace, and air handler. Removed all old equipment.

I dealt with Al Budrow. I think that they did a good job. They were prompt and completed the job. They followed up; there were some materials that they didn’t have enough of, and they were conscientious about following up with that and getting back to finish the job.

From the initial conversation with Craig Johnson to completion of installation, the service was Excellent and the skillful professionalism of the technicians was Outstanding. We had a replacement of a Trane Heating and Air Conditioning System performed by Surgi's. Craig arranged for Art to come to our home and he evaluated our needs not just for today but for tomorrow. He answered my questions at that time and after a few days, I had additional questions/concerns and Dale was available to respond. After we chose theTrane system that fit our needs, we set the date and were delighted to have the team of Walter and Romalis working in our home, This was not a typical job due to the location of the coils and heater but they took extreme care of my flooring, art work and furnishings on 2 levels. We also required a new exterior pad for the condensor and this too was installed to our satisfaction. Dale also came to our home during installation. Once the job was complete, there was no sign that an extensive 2 day job had been performed, all debris had been removed! We've never in the past felt a comfort level with a contracting company as we had with Surgi's. Even after installation, I contacted Craig with additional questions and as he had done prior to installation, was available; not briefly but for an extended period of time. So very happy with our Trane system (AC now) and with Surgi's. Craig, Art, Dale & Walter all explained how our chosen system would function and it's operating as they indicated. When it's time for the heater to be utitlized and if there are questions, we feel confident that they will be answered. We certainly plan on using Surgi's for all our future AC/HVAC needs.

Outstanding service from first contact to the completion of installation.Most highly recommended. They surveyed our home for proper unit size, then offered a choice of several units, describing advantages of each. We were able to make a quick & easy decision based upon their counsel and the reading material that they supplied. We selected an upgraded model that would pull additional humidity from the air, but it was not the most expensive of the 4 offered. We were scheduled for installation within a few days and the job went smooth, as described.The change in the coolness and humidity is superb! A very noticeable difference from our old unit. The Trane is extremely quiet, runs only for short periods of time and cools/dehumidifies very effectively. The air in our home feels so much more comfortable. I only wish that I had made this transition this years ago.Surgi's staff is outstanding! Thank you.

I contacted SURGI'S HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING based on their rating to service our AC. They were supposed to come between 1-4p, but never showed up. Once I got hold of them, they agreed to come the next day in the morning, and then never showed up. We call the them again, and they were very rude to us on the phone. I was very upset with the girl on the phone, and told her that people are taking time off of work waiting for them and they keep putting us off without any consideration or phone calls and that if they know they can't come they should just tell us they can't come and we will get somebody else that is when she told me - "I can't come" and then hung up the phone. I will not use this company, nor do I recommend them.

Our apologies to the member. Our intent is to satisfy every customer but in times of extreme heat and humidity we ask our customers to understand that we have to priortize or service starting with people with no air and people with water leaks. Our intent was to get to the member as soon as possible but we apparently did not communicate our schedule in a timely manner. We will try to improve our procedures in the future. To add to our problems, one of our Servicemen, Mike Raia, celebrated the birth of his first child (nicknamed "Ladybug"), 6lbs, 4oz and beautiful. Despite our joy for Mike, his absense left us one man short at a most inopportune time. Please remember, calling for routine service when the temperature hits 90 is like calling for a wrecker in a snowstorm. Be proactive. Surgi's has been servicing our Preventive Maintenance since March 1 in preparation for hot weather. Again, appologies to the member. Needed a company to do a thorough evaluation of the HVAC for a commercial building. Technician was called out and kept in touch with me every step of the way. Owner was very open to identifying issues and to suggest various cost approaches and money saving ideas to fix the problem. Excellent experience. Surgis has another loyal customer.

The entire experience was good, from start to finish. They were very responsive to all of my questions, explaining how an air-conditioning and heating system works and the pros and cons of different matched systems. The company owner, Mr. Craig Johnson, worked with me directly and was very informative and patient in answering my many questions. He provided quotes for systems at several different price and efficiency levels. The final agreed-upon price was good, and there were no hidden fees tacked on to the service. They provided high-efficiency Trane equipment for approximately the same price that other companies were quoting for equipment that was not of as high quality. They showed up promptly on the morning of the install, intalled the new equipment, and cleaned up and hauled away all of the old equipment. They even hauled away some old heating equipment and drain pans that had been left in the attic from a prior replacement. They installed new, internet-connected, programmable thermostats and explained the operation to me. The two technicians were very polite and professional, their supervisor was present to oversee the job and even worked along with them. The supervisor also adjusted dampers in the existing ductwork to ensure that proper airflow was occurring in all rooms. The heater has worked well so far (it warms the house well and is much quieter than the old unit) and Surgi's has assured me that when the air conditioning season starts they will ensure that the air conditioning works just as well. Surgi's has been very professional, and they provided service and equipment at a fair price. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Replaced entire heating and air conditioning system. Including outside compressor unit, indoor coil and air-handler unit, and thermostats.

I called on a Monday morning because our thermostat stopped working. A technician came out and replaced the unit. Unit cost was about $150. He explained that we didn't need one that cost more if we weren't going to use features like the timer to control the temp during the day while no one was home. He was in and out within less than an hour of placing the initial service call. We've used Surgi's before and had a similar experience - very quick response time, reasonable rates, courteous technician, etc.
