I arranged for 3 yards of "Spillway Sand" to be delivered to my employer's home. I spoke with Sally of Reliable. Sally advised that 6 yards was the smallest amount they would deliver. She also said that they handle "Spillway dirt" or "River sand." I explained, as my employer listened, that we were going to put the product down and then put limestone rocks over it, so we needed the one which would stay in place better. She recommended the "Spillway dirt." No other description was offered. No photos were available either. This was the full and only description provided to us of the product to be delivered. When the load was dropped by dump truck in my employer's yard, it turned out to be mostly large clumps, similar to small boulders, of clay. It cannot be broken up to lay down beneath limestone to make a safe walkway in his garden, so it is unusable for the purpose intended. When a call was placed back to Sally inquiring what our options were, we were told that there were none. She said it is her "standard practice" to tell customers that Spillway soil contains "some clay," but that was absolutely not done in this instance. We now have a huge amount of clay on his lawn and we have to figure out our own solution for getting rid of it. Further, we still don't have what we needed for his garden paths.

I ordered 6/10 rock for my back yard. I have ordered it before from a different company and was delivered an excellent grade of rock (grey in color - limestone). The young lady, Sally, took my order and told me the time and date they would arrive. They did so punctually and the pricing was accurate. I was not there, but the gentleman who did my landscaping was met the truck and paid the driver. When they spread the stone, it was no where close to the quality of the first load I had received previously. It was the correct color, but it was approximately 50% stone and 50% powder(which is what they called it when I contacted them). When I called to discuss the poor quality I was told that this particular stone had varying qualities depending on where and when the quarry delivered the product. I explained to the lady that I was not a contractor and this is what I had ordered before and received a much higher grade of stone with NO powder in it. I asked her if she could deliver some more (no rush since I live only 6.1 miles from the company) when they were in the area to make up for the powder. She said no, that I had received what I ordered and there was nothing they could do about it. I even suggested they inform people when they order this product that they tell them the quality varies. I could not believe she would not even try and make any attempt to work this through. She said she would have to charge me if they brought additional stone because I got what I ordered. After refusing to do ANYTHING to assist me, she HUNG up on me. I've been in the service business for over 35 years and whenever there was a complaint, I tried to identify whatever I could do to make it correct. I would never think of hanging up on a client. This lady was having none of it. When I called back and asked for Sally, I told her the story and asked who the lady was that hung up on me. I was floored when she said it was the owner!!! Believe me, if anyone ever says they want to order stone I will make sure to tell them to steer clear of this company. I've already informed two friends who own landscaping companies (one large and one small) and they thanked me for the information. This company and owner are clueless when it comes to customer service.
