Steve showed up on time and got right to work, this was a minor job and I will use them again in the future. Budget Plumbing came highly recommended by our prominent real estate broker who relies on their services all the time. They did not ask who referred me.
Description of Work: Check for a possible bathtub faucet leak under the house, something a plumbing inspection revealed.

Description of Work: They re-seated and sealed two toilets, put in a new float mechanism in one toilet, fixed a leaky shower head, and re-attached a sink to the wall. They were fast, prompt, and the repairs looked good.

Description of Work: I contacted them to replace my water heater. When I was told I would be contacted I was left hanging. The impression I came away with was that my job was inconvenient, unimportant, or too small and they didn't want to be bothered.

Description of Work: They were hired to replace all the under slab plumbing on my house prior to sale. David, The owner of Budget Plumbing, initially gave me an estimate of $6700 and said it could be less, depending on whether or not tunneling was needed. When the pit was dug it was determined it would require tunneling. They did the tunnels and replaced the pipes with PVC. As soon as the job was finished David came to the house to collect his $9500. I asked him why $9500 when I was quoted $6700? He said if was because the runs were longer than what he had estimated. Never mind the fact he never took out a ruler for the original estimate! He then quoted a "Catch 22" phrase included in his contract which rendered the initial estimate worthless. Since I was selling the house and had a buyer already, I paid the $9500. When the buyer had the under slab work inspected, the video showed some leaking cast iron remaining. I called Budget and finally was able to get them out to complete the job. On that second trip they left a pit partially open on the side of the house, which I then filled. I complained to a friend of mine who sends Budget business on a regular basis and David agreed to give me about $1000 worth of free plumbing work, of which I took advantage. Still, I was charged nearly $3000 more than the initial estimate. I will not use Budget again and wish to advise anyone using them to state a "maximum charge" on the contract and have David sign by that maximum, otherwise he will do what he pleases. The house finally sold and I found no point in holding up the sale for $2800 worth of litigation. Beware of Budget !

It took the city about a month and a half to get the water meter put in, so we had some "wait time" before the actual work would start. In the meantime, I needed some help with a leak that had happened at the back of the house. I called Budget and asked them if they could come out and stop the leak. They did. They said the service call would be $100.00. At that time, I decided to go ahead and give them the check I had gotten on loan, for $1,200.00. I told them they could deduct the $100.00 from it, and then if when the final work was finished, it ended up costing more than the estimate, I would pay the difference. A week later, another leak in the old pipes happened. I had to turn the water off to stop the leak. I called and called Budget asking for help. Eventually Julie, the woman who takes care of the phones, told me David said there was no point in them coming out to keep fixing leaks on the old pipes, because when the new pipes were finally installed, it would take care of the old leaks. I explained that while that was true, *I* still had to deal with the old pipes, and I had to have the water off to stem the leak. No response for days. Finally, I had to call out another plumber to stop the leak on the old pipe. When the city did get the water meter installed, two men from Budget Plumbing came out-- David was not with them. When I asked them if David had explained what needed to be done, they said, "No, David didn't tell us anything." I explained to them what David had said. They worked a few hours, then said they were done. They ran plastic tubing from the water meter to the back of the house. They left to go get parts for the sinks. Then they said they were done. I was a little confused, because all of the old metal pipe that David had said they'd "clean up" was still under the house. It just had blue plastic tubing attached to it. Anyway, they said the had done all they could do, so I said ok. As they were leaving, suddenly one of them ran back, while still on the phone with the office. He said accusingly, "She says you owe us $100.00." Wow. I thought I would be billed for any extra work. They had kept a check of mine for $1,200.00 for several weeks, when they had only done $100.00 of work at that time. I did that with them on good faith, because they'd had good grades on Angie's List and had been recommended by my realtor. Then they came running back to the house like I was trying to cheat them out of $100.00. Since they left, the kitchen sink leaks. The water pressure in the sink is WORSE. The bathtub isn't taken care of. I call and call and call. Julie says she is waiting til they can "fit me in". I'm constantly told they are "very busy". Well, they have my money already so I guess that makes me "fit in" status. Over a week ago, I called and left a message saying if I did not hear back from David within a week, I would be leaving negative feedback on Angie's List. It's well over a week later. Still nothing. Clearly, I will be having to pay another plumber to come fix this mess. And the thing is? Because David did not leave specific directions for his workers, and because he never came to see what they did, I don't even know if I got done what he had calculated in his estimate. $1,200.00 is a darn lot of money to pay for some blue tubing and two sink traps. I would HIGHLY caution people thinking of using this company. It seems they were wonderful once, but something awful has happened. I would not recommend them to ANYONE.
Description of Work: On recommendation from my realtor, I called Budget Plumbing to set up service from a new city water meter, to my house. My house had previously been connected to the water meter next door. David came to make an estimate before the new water meter was installed, on how much it would cost to run the new plumbing. At that time, I showed him the sinks in the house, which the home inspector said would need new traps. David agreed. I also showed him the bathtub drain, which did not meet the bathtub right. I showed him I had extremely low water pressure from the kitchen sink. He said they would fix the bathtub, the sinks, and waved his hand around at all the pipes under the house and said "We'll clean all this up for you. The current pipe is too small. We'll put in bigger pipe, and your water pressure should be great." His estimate was $1,200.00 for the work.

He was completely out of my price range. He came highly recommended and was a nice guy, but the price quoted was just too much.
Description of Work: I contacted them to move the original pluming from under my home to outside my home. I wanted this to be update to make the area more functional and to have the water flow properly.

Attempt 1 - called office and a lady answered; I explained my toilet wouldn't flush and I needed a service call. She asked to call me back. I gave her my cell number. She never called back. Attempt 2 a few days later - called office again, same lady answered. She asked to call me back again (it seems she is not able to make scheduling decisions without consulting someone else first). She called back several hours later and told me someone could come out within the hour. I told her I couldn't juggle my schedule at such short notice. This was on a Friday. She asked if I would be available Monday and I told her I thought so depending on the time. She said she would call me back. No call back on Friday but Monday I'm at work and she calls to say someone will be out in an hour. I got direct with her and explained that I worked and needed some notice. I told her that I had never had this kind of problem with her company before. She told me that I told her I was available anytime after lunch on Monday. I know I didn't tell her that because I had a meeting on my work calendar at 1:00 that day. She was more interested in being right than being helpful though, and ended up telling me that she would call me back. And of course, she showed me who is boss and she never did. I feel bad for the Budget staff who probably have no idea why business has dropped off lately. But when you make someone like this lady the gatekeeper for your business, you have to know what you have hired. I had even had them do some work for my company in the past. Luckily I found someone else to come out (C&D Plumbing) who did a fantastic job, so color me a former customer of Budget Plumbing permanently.
Description of Work: I am so disappointed with Budget Plumbing. 3 of the good reviews on Angie's List for them are from me and a co-worker. I work full-time and have a busy mom life on the side, so remembering to call to make an appointment for service during the day is always a challenge, and I expect to get a quick answer or a call back when promised. I just don't have time to babysit a vendor I need service from.

I called Budget Plumbing on Monday, June 15th to try to schedule a service call for one of our offices on the Westbank. I spoke to Dave, who told me that they were very busy, but would do their best to get to our office that day. He asked for our closing time, and then guaranteed that they could make it, even with their very hectic schedule. As promised, they showed up that afternoon, and had most of the problem fixed that day. They came back the next day, first thing in the morning, to finish the work.
Description of Work: Budget Plumbing came out to our office to fix a toilet that had an extremely bad clog in it. The clog required a special tool to loosen it, so they left to get it and returned promptly. Within an hour they had the toilet back to a usable condition. They returned the next morning, first thing, to fix the flange and replace the toilet ring. They were very courteous, and the prices were very reasonable. Dave was a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend Budget Plumbing!

I called at 8:00 a.m. hoping they could come out same day because the faucet was streaming water and I don't know how to turn the water off to the house. I told Dave who answered promptly about my problem and that I was hoping to make a 1:00 doctor's appointment, but understood if that wasn't possible. He said it would be tough since his guys already had a job scheduled for the a.m., so I went ahead and cancelled my appt. He called back about 5 minutes later to say that he had rearranged the other job so his guys could catch me first. They were early and finished right on time. I was able to go to the appointment too.
Description of Work: They replaced a broken faucet in a bathroom and replaced the faceplate in a bathtub. The price includes materials and when I would guess the faucet cost about $70 because it was the same brand and similar model to what I had previously bought.

A pest control company came to spray my house and in the process managed to break a water main. Water was spewing everywhere and thanks to an old, rusty shut-off valve, my husband could not turn off the water at the street. The pest control company said they would get a plumber out, but it would probably take several hours (and in the meantime water is spewing all over my house and yard). I called Dave at Budget Plumbing and he had two guys who were working nearby stop that job and rush over to my house. They were there within 15 minutes working on my line. They got the water off, repaired the line, checked to make sure the pest control guy hadn't damaged anything else, and even did their best to re-spread out my mulch! They got the entire job done before we even heard back from the pest control's plumber.
Description of Work: Dug up broken water main and repaired pipe.

They were fantastic. They showed up on time on the day we had scheduled, worked hard for 2 days and even finished the job early. Even though they ended up having to do more work than originally estimated from the underground video pipe inspection, they still only charged us the estimated amount. All of the workers were very nice and professional, and even tried to save our plants that had to be dug up to replace the drainage pipes. They were prompt at returning our phone calls and answering any and all of our questions. They also quoted us (and charged us) less than several other plumbers from the area.
Description of Work: We had just bought a house and we needed the entire drainage system replaced, a new line ran for the washing machine, and several pipes in the intake replaced.
