Backyard Living Pools

Description of Work: Basically we fell for the slimiest used car salesman in the business. We hired Backyard living to do a complete backyard renovation project which would include a pool, outdoor kitchen, cabana, fire pit, and decking. Pepper brings you into his showroom that has a million pics of pools on the wall.. not sure now they are even pools he built. He sits you down and shows you a real life video of what you pool/yard will look like when its done..This is straight out of HGTV. You are hooked at that point. Within a day we got the quote. It was $100K less than the other companies we met with. He said it was expertise in the area (local) and his years of experience. This allows better pricing. We are in. Day 1. We get home from work. 50% more of the yard is bulldozed than what we agreed upon, leaving 50% for the Part pool and the other 50% destroyed. We were floored. He says "No problem". This issue was never rectified and we had to come up with a solution on our own to fix this. Example issue 2. Spa built with seat way too low. He is about 5'5" tall. He says, "This is how I like it at my house. I like to feel cacooned." It was obviously a mistake but instead of fixing it, he kept trying to show us WE did not know what WE wanted. He never fixed it. Finally, the company that completed the job fixed it. That was 4 months later. This lack of supervision of the subs, not following the agreed upon plans, not showing up for work for weeks at a time, filth in the yard from nails and construction debris, pulling subs off of our job mid day to work on other angry clients jobs, arrogance when we complained or questioned and constantly coming home to extremely expensive mistakes that were not discussed with us let us to fire him. NO OTHER POOL COMPANY IN THE CITY WANTED TO WORK WITH US UPON LEARNING THAT HE WAS THE GUY WHO ROYALLY SCREWED US. His reputation definitely precedes him. We had many components to this project. He failed them all. His subcontractors were unhappy. He did not pay them. They said we may have to pay them for their work. This was an absolute nightmare experience. I would be happy to go into more detail as it would really blow your mind to how this awful company can still be in business.

Description of Work: We met with Pepper Tegre of Backyard Living Pools, aka, Gunite Masters. He designed a pool to fit our irregular shaped yard. His office was impressive, and a drawing of the pool looked good. We wish we would have visited other owners prior to agreeing to contract with this company.
