Amko Fence

Previous owners replaced fence. When I moved in (November), I noticed split boards, popped nails, etc all along the fence. Contacted Amko. Rep came out & agreed that fence needed repair (have a year warranty). While waiting for them to "schedule" me, I had gate up up with another company. Informed Amko that they would need to SCHEDULE an appointment to get this done. Had crew call me when they're around the corner after I told them my need to schedule; this does not work as my dog is outside much of the time when I am not home (plus, I don't like people being on my property when I'm not there). I REPEATEDLY leave messages/talk to office guy about scheduling (19 times in total). Today (5 months later) the crew calls me again, saying he's nearby & wants to come fix the fence. I'm at work. I'll fix the d*** fence myself because Amko cannot schedule properly & did a poor job in the first place anyway.

Worst experience ever. I put a deposit down on November 13,2020. My fence was not completed until March 10,2021. I called and called to see when they would start my fence. Starting in January they said they would be getting the material soon. They finally showed up on February 18th. They did half of my fence. They left mud mixed with cement piles all along the borders of my fence. I specifically requested the fence be all the way on the ground because of a small dog that we have and the fence was still high off the ground. My husband used the piles of dirt to fill in the spaces around the fence. They left and never came back or called to let us know when they would finish installing our fence. I finally called a week later and was told the post had to settle in the cement before putting on the gate which is understandable. 2 weeks later they still havent finished my fence or returned my call. I submitted a claim with BBB and finally on March 10th they finished my fence. The gates were way to high that my husband had to drill the gate to be lower. Amko refused to come back and lower stating the ground was too high on one end. My husband dug around it to make it work. We paid $5,100 for the fence. For this amount of money the fence should have been done as requested and with all the piles cleaned up. I will never ever use this company and i will never reccommend anyone to use this company. The owner never returns ur calls and u have to take a step further and get BBB involved to get anything done.

Great quality work at a good price. I am surprised at the poor reviews on here. The actual work was started about 3 weeks out from the time of the estimate, but I did not consider that a problem. I did not expect them to start the next day on the project (about 150' of fencing and 4 gates). They addressed all concerns I had during the job and did excellent work.

Worst contractor and service to date. Took 2 months to finally schedule after deposit for materials was given. Showed up with galvanized posts instead of powder coated square, even though we paid deposit for materials 2 months in advance, and told the square ones were not on hand when they showed up, so had to accept round ones or delay work further. Workers attempted to spray paint the galvanized posts thinking we would not know the difference between spray paint and powder coated. Guys would show up at 11 am and work 3-4 hours, then not show up the next day. Took 3 weeks to build a "fence" that is not level, not on the property line, and does not match any of the architectural drawings provided for pricing. Another month later they show up to install an "iron" fence. They started installing powder coated metal that did not match the existing actual iron fence in any way, shape or form. Now we have to hire an new fence company to tear down and correctly build the wood fence and start over to fabricate an actual iron fence to match existing.

Never got that far. Never got quote, Poor communications. Very poor service from the residential side of the business

They were slow in meeting the date to start. They were low in price. I had heard that there may be problems with the automatic gate mechanism and asked them about it before they started. They told me they had not had problems with it. A month later I started having problems with it. That was over two weeks ago and the problems have not been resolved yet and I have been having to call and call. They were just not responsive. I have a gate here that I can't open and close, except manually. They are slow in doing anything about it. They sent a couple of people out and the first person said there was something wrong with the electric eye. I came home and tried it out and it did not work. Another guy that came out said it just needed lubrication. So we lubed it together, but he said there was still something wrong in the controller. The guy was supposed to call me this morning with details but did not call.

I am a previous client and when I called recently, I left a message for them and they never returned my call. Also, I had asked them a few years ago for decorative work to be done on my aluminium fencing and they reallyshowed very little enthusiasm or interest in the project. No follow through.

I had an appointment for an estimate for fence section on two sides of my house. for March 29, 2011.The person did not show up. When I contacted him, he said the appointment was for the next day. He came next day and gave me some information about the types of fences that were available. He said the would get me some estimates by the next day per e-mail. When I had not heard back from him by the following Monday (April 4), I e-mailed him asking about the estimate. He e-mailed a reply stating that the estimate would be done by the next day. After another few days went by with no estimate, i e-mailed him again asking about the estimate and if there was a problem. I never heard from him again.

I called six or seven fence companies. Almost all of them came out to look at the property. About half actually responded with an estimate. Of those that provided estimates, Amko not only had the best price, but was the only company to provide me with an actual written estimate on professional letterhead. The saleleman, Jody Catalanotto, was very professional. The estimate was emailed to me the same day, and I scheduled installation for 2 days later. Due to rain, the installation took 2 days. I was very happy with the work, and I highly recommend Amko's services.
