I cannot speak to the question of how their work quality is but others here have. I only wanted to post that I found them incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Although they were too booked with other projects to take mine, they made a point to get back in touch with me to say so. Gave some helpful information about things to ask in my search for another company. Wish more companies could maintain this level of customer service!
Description of Work: Returned a call requesting a quote to raise a house.

Description of Work: They came out and gave me an estimate and advice on adding pilings under the house to stabilize our foundation. They were very honest and knowledgable and were not out to make a dime. They didn't complete the job because they didn't think it was necessary at the time. We will call them when and if it necessary to complete the job.

Description of Work: The services that this company did for me was over 10 years ago. But I was so impressed with them, that when ever I need assistance he was the first person I called and if he couldn't help me he could give me people that he could recommend.

Aldrete and Sons has 40 years experience shoring/elevating houses and they were the first to be able to know simply by looking at the interior of my house which walls were support walls....Mr. Aldrete is a structural engineer....unlike other shoring companies who and quot;evolvedand quot; into the business after Katrina when the Grant money became availalbe. He does not advertise commercially....His reputation is spread by word of mouth and hopefully now by Angie's List. This job was to raise our house (it flooded after Hurricane Katrina) using the Hazard Mitigation grant money, which is why it cost us nothing...and the actual process is nearly complete, but began on March 21, 2011. The elevation itself took place on April 30 and was done in a matter of hours. The preparation (digging out and shoring up the house...with the addition of concrete pilings which were driven down 50' in between the original wooden pilings) took approximately 3 weeks...allowing for weather conditions, items needing to be brought up to code) Aldrete and Sons is the only company that we've seen who does NOT have mountains of mud on the property. They haul the excavated debris away and DAILY pressure wash the sidewalks and street, so as not to inconvenience the neighbors and make it easier on the residents of the property being elevated. We had virtually NO mess to deal with during the elevation process. We did not have to move out of our house at ANY time during the process....it was all very easy. Our house has a gas stove and water heater. We were temporarily supplied with an electric water heater, which allowed us to have hot water to bathe and do laundry. I was not able to use my stove for the week we were without gas, but that was not an issue...:-) The workers were courteous and cleaned up after themselves daily (picking up their trash from lunch and cigarette butts, if they smoked) The Aldretes were always available and willing to answer any questions we had and address our concerns. One concern that we had was the lack of concrete footing around the posts for the back porch/stairs. The fencing company subcontracted to build it, appeared to have used very little concrete (some posts didn't seem to have concrete all the way around them) When we contacted the Aldretes about this, the subcontractor was contacted and the problem was resolved the next day. This process has taken longer than expected while waiting for post-elevation work to be completed....(as of July 11, we're waiting for completion of stair railing and sod for our yard) We're NEARLY there...but the 6-8 weeks originally promised has come and gone. When using any contractor you should be clear and get everything in writing as to what your expectations are and what their expectations are. That way everyone is on the same page. My advise is to take lots of photographs of all work done. It's an interesting process and the photos may be an asset when selling your home, so that prospective buyers can see the quality of work done and not have to wonder about it. It was a very easy process and we would highly recommend Aldrete and Sons for your shoring/elevation job.
Description of Work: Slab house, shored and elevated 2 feet; plumbing replaced beneath the slab, brought up to code...gas leak was discovered in our attic and repaired. A/C unit elevated on a cinderblock and stuccoed platform. The base of the house was stuccoed/. Driveway and sidewalks repoured, Fences repaired and stairs built to access the home after elevation. The back of the house stairs/railing are made of pressure treated wood and the front stairs are concrete/brick with iron railing and the same railing on the front porch of the house added.
