 + -1 moreGreat initial responsiveness. Shawn came to do estimate himself within a day or so of my call. The estimate was emailed within several days of his visit. Very prompt and professional. I was a bit confused about the estimate because we had requested several different estimates depending on the amount of possible water damage and intially just received one estimate which did not itemize labor or material, it just gave a figure. Upon my request I did receive additional details and the initially requested estimates. I was a bit surprised regarding the cost but I think that is more due to my lack of knowledge regarding current construction materials and labor costs. I did believe that Shawn provided an estimate he believed was fair and as competetive as possible to do a quality job. As I considered my options SES followed up several times which I appreciated. I chose to do business with Shawn because he made a good impression while visiting for the estimate and I believed that he was concerned about doing a quality job. They were able to schedule the work within a week or two of my acceptance of the estimate. The day of the job the roofing guys were a few hours late but that does not concern me much. The roofers were knowledgable, interactive, and professional. Their input and willingness to involve me helped me feel better about the job overall as well as which wood should be replaced under the old flat roof. The job took 2 days and they were professional and respectful the whole time. Shawn made one visit during the job. Based on this experience I would recommend them and I would do business with Shawn again. The roof seems well constructed. Much better than the prior roof. It has rained a few times since completion and no leaks yet. Only time will tell but based on my experience I do not feel anyone could have done a better job than Shawn and his roofing team.

 + 0 moreOverall the job came out beautifully. There were many odd angles and strange fixes in the structure that the subcontractors did a fantastic job covering. The only problems stemmed from the subcontractors not understanding directions very well (an issue likely due to English not being their first language). They did several things that they were specifically directed not to do, making the job take longer than necessary with all the re-dos. This also caused multiple issues concerning missing/misplaced personal items and tools that they moved and had been directed not to move. The owner and office manager of the company were both always very gracious in fixing these matters, and everything has been handled to my satisfaction. Hence, the "responsiveness" category got a "B" - the contractor was highly responsive, but the subcontractors were not.
Description of Work: Provider handled the drywall throughout a 100+ yr. old gutted and partially re-framed shotgun cottage. The company owner came out multiple times to provide estimates, advice, and note what I wanted and how I wanted the job done. He even lent me a few tools to make my job re-framing easier. Provider also dealt with "dead wood" and installing a suspended framework for drywall ceiling in one room with an old wood ceiling (in bad shape, but perhaps I can refinish it at a later date). The office manager was always very helpful and prompt in returning emails, whether they were requests for information or concerns over how the job was progressing.

 + -1 moreAs each phase of the projects were completed, Shawn personally came out to inspect the work that was performed, and if I had any concerns they were immediately addressed. Only after all work was completed to my satisfaction did I receive a statement for services rendered.
Description of Work: Replaced rotten wood on soffit and fascia and painted to match. Repaired and sealed gutters. Insulalted return drain on AC handler and secured hanging AC ductwork in attic to rafters. Hooked up Dryer Vent hose in attic and finally they installed 2 turbine roof vents.

 + 3 moreI am giving SES Enterprises an A+++ in all categories. I am planning to hire them again for all of my future home repairs! Shawn and his workers are very professional, meticulous and polite.
Description of Work: Shawn and his workers installed a new front door that I had ordered through Renaissance Doors. Renaissance Doors had measured the door opening INCORRECTLY, so Shawn and his team not only installed the new door but also had to build additional molding to fit the door opening. The door now looks BEAUTIFUL! SES also removed our old shutters and built new ones. The new ones look great! Shawn came out today to finish some work and he decided to give the shutters another coat of paint (AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE) because he said the shutters had expanded and contracted due to the hot summer weather. SES also installed gutters and they also look great and are working perfectly!

Shawn came out for a quote almost immediately and gave us what we thought was a very fair price. He performed the work quickly, and I am no roof expert but I do know that his work passed our follow-up roof inspection. He seems to be very honest and straightforward, and I appreciated how we went about this small job from start to finish. We would use him again.

We had a general idea of how the finished work should look and the contractor worked with us when we came up with some modifications. The contractor was most helpful with deciding on the finishing details. The workers were very professional and neat. They cleaned up before they left each day. The finishers did an excellent job with the punch list. We have had many compliments on the overall appearance. The work was done quickly and greatly exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this company and plan to use them again for future projects.

 + -1 moreI called SES & told them the problem I was having. The young lady I talked to, Penny, gave me a date & time for someone to come out & create an estimate for repair. The young man came out on the appointed date & time, inspected the roof, explained clearly everything that needed to be done and gave me an estimate. I called Penny & told her I agreed to the estimate. She gave me & time & date for the technicians to come and repair the roof ventilator & water leak. They came out at the appointed date & time, completed the repair and left the area completely cleaned. To date everything is working well & there has been no leakage whenever it rains. I am totally satisfied with the work done & the courtesy & professionalism with all of the SES personnel I had contact with. I will highly recommend SES Enterprises to any & everyone.
Description of Work: The roof ventilator was leaking water everytime it rained. SES replaced the ventilator, a couple of roof shingles & insured the fan worked properly.

 + 6 moreSES was on time all 3 days, 7:30 am! They were very professional and I felt comfortable leaving for work knowing that the repairs were underway. The bathroom was a mess after Hurricane Katrina and we had bad luck w/ two other contractors.SES started Friday and the job was finished in 3 days! Nick and Errol worked 12 hour days to get it all finished. They cleaned the bathroom and work areas when work was finished each day, It was a pleasant experience to have everything repaired and back in order. Thank- you!
Description of Work: They removed an old bath tub and installed a new one.w/ surround., Replaced the shower valve and reconnected the pipes. They also connected two 8 inch vanity faucets, and repaired a .broken drain pipe. In addition to the plumbing, they replaced missing floor tiles around the tub. Drywall &a trap door was replaced in back of the shower and they built a wall behind the tub.baseboards and quarter rounds were installed. Also, repaired a cracked ceiling and an exhaust fan in another bathroom.

 + 1 moreWe negotiated a contract with SES Enterprises to perform Stucco work on our home. When we called for an estimate the foreman came over in less than 2 hours to take a look at the house! The secretary got an estimate to us that evening and we were able to negotiate all of the details via email. It took them about 2 weeks to complete the work due to rain, but man did those guys work! They showed up at 7:30am and often didn't leave until 7pm. They did EXCELLENT work and were very conscientious. I was always able to get in touch with the foreman if I had any questions or concerns and they were always very good about taking care of any of minor issues. They completely changed the look of my house and when the landscaping is done, it will be the nicest house on the street. I can say that SES Enterprises is the FIRST company I would call again. I give them my highest recommendation.
Description of Work: SES Enterprises removed old aluminum siding from an ~950sq. foot house and replaced with stucco. Dumpster service was provided for $300.00.

 + 3 moreVery well. Based on my experience I strongly recommend them, and I would gladly hire SES again.
Description of Work: I hired SES Enterprises to repaint the entire interior of a 19th century New Orleans house including minor cosmetic repairs and also to build two large closets along one wall in each of two bedrooms which had none. Their bid wasn't the highest and it wasn't the lowest, but I went with them after talking with Shawn Sanne about the job and because of the positive feedback his company has on Angie's list. The painting was done beautifully and in a manner which respected the house, i.e., SES' work crews were careful about small details and about not damaging the wood floors and existing trim. Shawn worked with us on our paint choices to be sure we were satisfied with the color choices we made. He was patient as we worked through the process and professional in the way he completed it, and the rooms look great. The closets represented a challenge both because the house has twelve foot ceilings and because it was important to match existing 120 year old trim, moldings etc. The floor to ceiling closets with storage area starting at 9' and shelves at 7' needed to not only work well as closets, one 10' long by 12' high and the other 7' long by 12' high, but they needed to look like they were a part of the house and not add-ons. Again, Shawn Sanne and his foreman Henry helped us work out the right design, and when there were a few late changes in details they were accomodating in making sure we got what we wanted. The result is even better than we hoped for, two large, useful, meticulously trimmed and painted closets which look like they are an original part of the house. I've had a lot of experience hiring people to work on old houses, and I've seen some good contractors and some very bad ones. SES Enterprises has been exceptionally good, both because of the skill and care of their work crews but also because I think that they are genuinely motivated by a desire to satsify their customer and not just make a buck.

 + -1 morePerry and his various and highly charismatic crews are awesome. Very knowledgeable. Detail oriented. Very easy and flexible to work with. If you are observing the work in progress, conversational language not for the faint of heart, but pretty d*** funny. Old houses kick up some surprises and these guys were prepared for it. I had tenants moving in and was under a deadline to get it sorted out as best we could. We didn't quite finish on time but Perry was very friendly and courteous and smoothed over the transition with the new tenants moving in. Tenants moved in and he & company finished up a few bits here and there without any drama. Tenants were very impressed with SES's work, too. I will definitely do business with SES again and keep Perry's number on speed dial (old houses, yeah?). They can pretty much go into any situation, sort it out, call upon numerous resources, and get it fixed. That's what I need. That's what I like. They cleaned up all the mess when the job was over. Tenant complained of dust which may have been residual from the floor screening. Next time I will make sure that pristine cleaning be a part of the original estimate, but this is a subjective topic. I would hazard that tenants probably expect "more clean" than average property owner. The bathroom came out beautiful. The slate really speaks to the house and fits the ticket. It's been a real pleasure working with SES on my old house. They also helped me out with some "extras" which is a sign of truly cool company. They recycled a refrigerator that failed the same weekend, helped me install a new one, fixed the lock on the mail box, and pointed out a number of important things I should address. What I like about working with these guys is that they call me up and give me options to consider. For example, we worked out an alternative plan for much less $$ to refinish the parlor floors. I hope this report helps out.
Description of Work: Removed old carpet (and two more layers of vinyl flooring & plywood) from 1862 Lower Garden District home in bedrooms. Refinished original wide plank pine floors under all that with 3 coats of satin. Removed carpet from bathroom and refinished with slate custom cut stair step pattern. Removed carpet from walk in closet and refinished with vinyl stick on tiles. Repaired cracked tiles in laundry. Refinished wood floors in parlor to change museum gloss finish to a more livable satin gloss on wood floors. Approximately 2000 sq ft of various floor work.

 + 2 moreOverall, I am very happy with SES' performance. Communication was very good. The job took a little longer than expected because of difficulty in removing the old tile floor. However, the finished product is very nice, and SES addressed every concern that I had throughout the job. I would definitely recommend this company for remodeling.
Description of Work: SES did a complete remodeling of my guest bathroom. This included tearing out old tile walls and floor, drywall installation, new ceramic tile, painting, installing new toilet, cabinets and fixtures.

 + 1 moreIt went awesome. I picked Shawn out of a few people I had over to give me a quote. Shawn came across as eager and able. I had a very specific situation and he had no problem working with me. In fact he seemed all too happy to help. He was punctual, usually got to my house 15-30 minutes early (tell me where you see that in this business!), & his employees were very professional as well. He was going to Loews to grab a few things and he let me jump in his truck so I could pick out tile. He patiently helped me pick out the tile, and as I am a 1st time homebuyer and very green to home repair, I greatly appreciated it. They worked all day Thursday and finished up for a few hours the following Saturday. Saturday, I said. The shower came out great, too. Shawn asked me frequently if everything was going ok, and after it was all done he told me to call him if anything went wrong. Great guy!
Description of Work: Shower tile removed, new shower pan installed & new tile set, bring plumbing up to code under all sinks in house, repair sheetrock around gas for range, reset dishwasher level, fixed all toilets.
