Shaun and his crew were professional on this job. They kept the mess to a minimum as it was the master bath that was being partially remodeled. They had an issue with one of the faucets and worked well past normal quitting time to try and get the job finished for us. They returned the faucet and came back and finished the job up as quickly as possible. Would highly recommend for their professionalism and pricing. Outstanding job

Workers showed up on time and were very professional and courteous. Always kept me well informed of status of the project. Drain replacement turned out to be more than what they had anticipated, but was completed with no upcharge for the extra time and effort. I'm very pleased with the reglazing of the bathtub.
Description of Work: Repaired wall behind bath tile where water had leaked behind the soap dish. Regrouted ceramic tile on both walls and floor. Replaced drain in the bathtub. Reglazed tub.

First principles are to keep appointments and follow directions, if you know what the directions are. I chose to engage this vendor because of high customer satisfaction ratings on Angie's List, but they could not get to first base with my job.
Description of Work: In July 2011 I contacted this vendor through their website to ask for an estimate for some soffit and roof work between house and patio cover. I described what I was looking for in my initial contact and specified all new wood would not need painting. I was contacted by e-mail asking for an appointment for an estimate. That appointment was made for 8-5-11. A fellow came out on 8-4, a day earlier than scheduled. I was at work. He aplologized by phone when my wife had him contact me at work. I had arranged the appointment when I did because I wanted to be home to be able to talk with the estimator. My wife reported that he took a ladder to see the roof and took his notes. I contact the vendor's e-mail on 8-9 telling him the estimator had been out and asked if I would be receiving a range of estimates for different options for how they could make repairs and prevent future damage. There was no response to this e-mail. On 8-22 an estimate arrived by e-mail for what they envisioned the job to be that included painting of new wood. Their estimate was the highest received. Because I did not have the chance to talk with somebody to explain what I was looking for on site I don't think they were able to make a realistic estimate. They ended up offering a bid that was way outside the envelope for what I was willing to pay because they did not understand what I wanted.

Shawn came out to do an estimate June 1 and promised he would be able to complete all of the work by the end of June, as I explained to him that I had tenants moving in July 1. An emergency came up and he was out of town the following two weeks, so I didn't receive my estimate until June 16, at which point I hesitated to hire SES as I was going out of town soon. June 22 I called to hire SES and was told that Shawn needed to re-do the estimate on June 29 because he didn't have quotes for everything we had discussed during the first estimate. I decided not to hire SES to the painting job because they couldn't get it done in time for my tenants to move in July 1. They told me the missing items from the first estimate that he needed to come back out for would be free, if I had them do all of the work(this was $4076 worth of work that I later had to pay for). I also decided to hire another plumber to get things moving along as SES was very slow to get started. However, I ended up using SES for plumbing after all but my orginal estimate of 11,500 ended up at 17,400. In the end I spent about 6,000 more but still didn't get the freebies because I didn't hire them to do the painting, which was quite disappointing. Overall the experience was good and they were punctual once the work finally got started July 11. The brunt of the work began August 1st and Shawn's workers were here everyday until August 16th when work was totally completed. There were a few things that were done wrong. The tiling design in the bathroom was specifically and clearly explained that the tiles were to be staggered like subway tiles or bricks and instead the were installed in a grid pattern and the grouting was sloppy but the finished product still looks nice. The window shortening in two kitchens was done cheaply at first, but when I pointed that out they totally acknowledged that they indeed had not glazed the windows and were very willing to re-do it the right way. The electrician and plumber were great and the drywall team of Lewis and Tico were very nice and courteous but flung drywall mud all about my house in rooms they weren't even working in. They tried to clean up after themselves but they sucked at it, moping drywall dust from sanding all over my wood floors which left a white film that took three more moppings to get off the floor. When installing my washer dryer Lewis pointed out that I was missing the electric cord but that as soon as I had my boyfriend put that in the washer and dryer were "good to go". Unfortunately I didn't know they had not removed the shipping bolts which caused the units to turn themselves 90 degrees, pulling the drain line out and causing water to spill onto my floor and through it down to the bottom apartment. So overall the work was good, not great, and there were enough things done sub-par that I won't be hiring them for my next multi-family property renovation.
Description of Work: Plumbing inspection & repairs of Main Line breaks, moved Hot Water Heater from kitchen to porch, installed Washer Dryer hookups with Electric and Vent, shortened Window height to fit new kitchen cabinets, replaced Gutters, repaired mortar on Pier Foundation and painted, removed Tub Surround and replaced with cement backer board and Tile, replaced Porch Deck and painted, & straightened porch posts, lowered and connected Kitched Drain for new sink, removed existing Shower Valve, Waste and overflow, Drum trap, and Drain line and replaced, repaired rotting bathroom Window frame, and repaired Drywall.

Let me start off by saying I just called SES to do another job today. These guys aren't perfect, but in the end we were completely satisfied with the bathroom reno. We had some issues (took longer than expected, some hiccups with having an open vanity leading to them redoing part of the job), but the difference between SES and your average contractor is that they will keep working, doing the job over if necessary until you get what you paid for. The difference, in my opinion, is Penny. She organizes the whole operation and while other contractors are struggling to keep up with jobs and handle the business side, Shawn has enough sense to hire someone to handle that for him. This allows you a constant point of contact (Penny) who is concerned with one thing and one thing only: your satisfaction with the job. So, while the job took longer than we expected, it was done right. Nick and Erroll were phenomenal workers, at our house early every day, the nicest guys, always leaving the house in the condition they found it. They also did high quality work without any prodding from us or Shawn. If you get lucky enough to have them working on your place, be thankful. In short, I would recommend SES to anyone, not because they're perfect (get real, no contractor is), but because they will keep working until you're satisfied and will fix ANY problem you point out to them.
Description of Work: We contracted with Shawn to renovate our upstairs bathroom, move a toilet, tile (shower and floor), install a new vanity, install new medicine cabinets, completely redo the plumbing, install new washer/dryer hookups, create a closet, add new attic stairs and repair some siding along the roofline. Also, they did drywall in closing up an entryway.

Had to wait a bit for the work to begin - a busy contractor is a good sign. Nick led the work on most of the tasks and we are more than pleased with the results. Everyone SES brought in to work on the various tasks were skilled and courteous. My dog still looks for Nick in the morning to come by and 'play' with him while he tries to work. The fence is really well built. The closet is just what we wanted and Nick was very helpful in designing the custom shelves with us. He also worked real hard to match all the woodworking with the house - an incredible feat and the results are great. The repairs to the doors around the house have been fun getting used to - we were so conditioned to struggling shutting certain doors that we still find ourselves amazed at how well they work. The front rafter was more cosmetic than structural but it blends with the others now. My only issue with SES was the initial communication between us - it seemed as if they were reluctant to let us know it would take a few days to begin. I would rather be told what is realistic to expect and not feel ignored. In the end, SES will be the first contractors we call for any of our needs.
Description of Work: Adjusted doors throughout the house, built a closet (7' x 13') - built custom shelving, remove and replace 27' of 6' high fencing, repaired part of a rafter.

Overall, it was a good experience and I would use this company again. The quality of the finished work was outstanding. You can see some before and during/after photos here: http://www.markandjulieshouse.com/Condo.htm . We had hired an architect who designed the project, and I interviewed 5 contractors, including SES Enterprises. The bids were all over the map. SES had the second lowest bid of the 5 we received, but the SES bid included certain materials that were not included in the lowest bid. I was also pleased in my conversations with SES that they had a great deal of experience and that they had some interesting ideas about how to execute the project. We signed the contract and SES began working the project, pulling permits, etc., immediately and started demo on the day they had committed to begin. The only real issue is that this project required some patience. It took longer than we expected. To be fair, only part of the delay was SES's fault as they worked our project along with a number of others. Because we were not living in the condo full time during the project, I suspect (but do not know) that SES decided they could back-burner our project sometimes in order to work on more pressing projects. Much of the delay was not SES's fault. In part, it was because we made changes; in part we were delayed because inspectors took a great deal of time to come to the project; in part it was because when you open up old walls and have to connect new plumbing and electric to old, it gets very complex. Overcoming many of these obstacles required skill, experience and imagination, and those are the characteristics that SES brought to the project. SES was able to overcome them all and to create a real dream home. As I said, this project required some patience, but it was well rewarded. After having worked this project with SES I am confident in recommending SES for their honesty, professionalism and superb technical skills.
Description of Work: Full remodel of a condo in the Warehouse District in New Orleans. They completely gutted the old kitchen, removed walls and opened up the space, then did new walls, cabinets, appliances, lighting, electric and plumbing. They also had to patch in hardwood flooring because of the new layout of the walls.

After several days of heavy rains my roof began leaking into my living room. I called SES and set up an appointment for an inspection. Cameron was the name of the guy who inspected the damage. He showed up on time and was very thorough in explaining the problem, including showing me some pictures he took of the roof. He wrote up my estimate, and also came out as soon as weather permitted him to access my roof (heavy rains prevented the repairs from going forward for a day), which happened to be a Sunday evening. As soon as the rain broke he was there. I was impressed he came out on a Sunday evening. The repairs were for the exact amount of the estimate. No games. So far, the repairs have held up fine. Overall, I thought SES was attentive and competent and will consider them again for any future repairs or renovations.

After finding and settling on SES Enterprises, I called them. They returned my call that day and scheduled an appointment to assess the problems. They came out exactly on time for the appointment and did the assessment. A few days later I was contacted by email and provided with the estimate which was far more reasonable than the previous ( and unsuccessful) repairs I had done by other contractors. I wish I had called SES Enterprises to begin with. The repairs were done as scheduled to my satisfaction. Shortly afterwards we had a hard rain storm and to my delight the skylite didn't leak and has never leaked since. I am pleased with SES Enterprises professionalism, the quality of their work and the price was great. I will recommend them to anyone I know needing their services. I will be calling them again to do other repairs after having such a good experience with SES Enterprises. I also want to compliment Angie's list too. They're batting 1000. Finding reliable and good contractors has never been so easy and unstressful to do. Thanks, Nat

The job went very well. My problem started with the lights in the living room, dining room, breakfast room, the porch and the front of my bedroom going out. When the electrician came out he said that he would have to search all of the wires to find out the problem and fix it. I was given a quote for electric inspection - troubleshoot and repair for $550.00. I was also told that should the problem be major they would stop progress and quote any additional work. When they came out to trouble shoot I was told they would need to run new circuits to where the power was off for $1,920.00 and to rewire the whole house would be $7,440.00. I chose to go with the run the new circuits. The electrician came to start the work on Friday. All he did that day was take off all of the old outlets and was going to come back Saturday and run the new circuits. On the Friday work he did not touch any wires in any other part of the house where the lights were working. That Friday night, before my son went to work, he called to tell me that the lights toward the front of the house that the lights in the bathroom, other bedroom that did work were only coming on very low. However in the back of the house the lights that were still working were like floodlights and the ceiling fan was going so fast that the ceiling was shaking. When I was going toward the front of the house I noticed that the chandelier was on and the front porch fan and lights were working. Those were two of the places where the lights did not work before. Then, I smelled burning in my bedroom and couldn't find where it was coming from. It was about 9:00 P.M. and I did not know what to do. I called the owner of SES and he called the electrician who came over within a half hour. The electrician said not to turn on the lights that were like floodlights because when he drilled to take out the old outlets that with an old house like mine the drilling may have cause some of the wires to knock together. He found where the burning was coming from in my bedroom. It was an outlet with a red light on next to it. This was in the part of my bedroom were the lights were not working so it should not have had a red light on the outlet. He then went to flip switches to see which one would turn this outlet off. The switch that he flipped to turn off the outlet that burned was one of the switches to the other part of the house where the lights were working so the outlet that burned should not have been on that switch. He told us to leave everything like that and they would be back in the mornng to fix everything. The owner of SES called later that night me to make sure I was all right and safe which was very thoughtful of him. On Saturday they did the job of running the new circuits. The electrician said that all of the wires in my house were together. The work that he did had the new wires that were separate from the others. He showed me some of the other wires in my basement that were live and could catch fire. I decided to have my whole house rewired and they did a wonderful and detailed job. I can't say enought good things about this company.
Description of Work: My whole house was rewired. My house was built in 1926 and I don't think it was ever rewired. when the electrician came and he was looking at the wires in my basement some of them were live wires.

It never got off the ground with SES. Since I live a good distance from the property in question, I called SES and set up an appointment for the following week on the Tuesday when I would be at the property with other contractors. On Monday before my scheduled date I called to confirm the appointment and the SES representative asked to change the date to Thursday, between 1 PM and 2 PM. I agreed and called the other contractors to see if they could accommodate me. The others agreed. On Thursday I drove to the property, arriving at 12:30 PM, and waited. The other contractors were scheduled for later in the afternoon. At approximately 2:00 PM I received a call from SES saying that they could not make the appointment. The SES contact person was very courteous and apologetic but, had I not had another reason to be at the property, I would have been really upset. I would not count on this contractor to be able to honor their scheduling for estimates. Be prepared to have to adjust to their convenience at the last minute.
Description of Work: I needed an estimate to perform some electrical repairs to a single family rental property that is located approximately 30 miles from my home. SES was not able to honor their scheduled date/time to perform the estimate. The work was estimated and performed by another contractor.

Response from SES Enterprises LLC
I do really apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. It is rare that we need to call and reschedule estimates, though things do come about that force us to do so from time to time. We have since hired another estimator to accomodate our customers. Once again, I am so sorry about the circumstance and always strive to do better and extend the best customer service possible. The contractor showed up when they said they would, they stayed on the job until it was done. There were multiple crews from the carpenters, to tile people to the painters. They were courteous, efficient and professional. SES did everything they said they would and in a timely fashion. I was comfortable letting them work in my home while I was at work. They moved the furniture when they needed to and put things back when they were done. They cleaned up after themselves and took care so as not to cause any property damage. While they did an excellent job, what impressed me more was some of the little things they did; like patching a nick in a wall (done by me years ago) or installing a screw here or there where it was needed, just because they saw it and had the tools out. Completely unexpected and muchly appreciated. While they worked quickly they didn't rush and the end result was nothing short of professional, as if this was their own home. I've already had multiple family members ask me for their contact information.
Description of Work: There was a significant amount of finish work that had not yet been completed on this home after some renovations. SES came in and did the following indoor work, baseboards, shoe molding, a new tile floor for the kitchen (after demoing out a warped laminate floor), stair banisters and railings, and bi-fold cabinet doors. Outdoor work included door and window trims, and painting the entire (brick) exterior as well as the newly installed trim and columns.

They were being cautious on it when they came this time. I think they padded the bill because they weren’t sure what they were getting into so they wanted to make sure they charged enough to cover any problems that they may have had. They were very polite and very helpful. They gave an estimate on my bathroom for the second time when I hired another company. They seemed to be fairly reasonable on the prices on that. They were going to put ceramic in. I didn’t have any problems with them and that’s why I called them back again this time to get the estimate on the porch.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from SES Enterprises LLC for my porch.

My experience with SES was excellent. I called SES to get an estimate on adding a new electric outlet (and wiring) and to install a new oven/stove. The receptionist made an appointment for the next afternoon but Shawn, the owner, was able to come earlier. He was able to assess the work needed and got me an estimate within an hour. We scheduled the work for the next afternoon. Again, they were able come early, and it turned out that they needed to, because the job was more complicated than we anticipated. Shawn and his electrician worked for several hours, but they got the job done and it was done right. But the most impressive thing about them was that they stuck to their original quote. It is rare contractor to do this and I was pretty blown away by it. Shawn is a man of his word and I thank him.
