Description of Work: They changed a broken water line to the house. The man who did the work also removed my cutoff valve which had a bleeder valve on it. He replaced it with a cutoff valve which did not have a bleeder valve. I did not know this at the time. before he left I had him change two faucets inside the house. From talking to the man, I found out he did not know what the cutoff valve is for. That's right, he didn't know what the cut off valve was for. He also had no business touching it because I didn't hire them to do any work on my house, only change the broken water line. When I discovered what he had done, I called Joe Blum back and complained about not being able to drain the pipes under the house because there was no bleeder valve and told the woman who answers the phone that the man did not know what he was doing. They sent the same man back out here again. After showing me the old shutoff valve, trying to justify changing it. He then reinstalled the old cutoff valve UPSIDE DOWN. I would have been draining the water line to the house instead of the pipes under the house. I had had enough of Joe Blum at that point. I looked around for another plumber and finally called Roto- Rooter. Another mistake. Even though they have a local phone number, they sent someone from Kenner to do the work. It cost me over $470 to fix Joe Blum's screw up.

Description of Work: Telephone support and the professionalism of the after hours customer service rep were fantastic. Conversation with management also went well. Was disappointed in the team that came to the house as they were not prepared for the work at hand with parts or fuel for torch. Final work product was not to my satisfaction, and I had to clean up work area and level out lawn after the two man team left. | |I have used this company in the past and this is not typical of the company's performance. | |

Description of Work: I contacted Joe Blum Plumbing along with several other plumbers to fix a slow drain in my laundry room which would spill over every time the washing machine would drain. I also had a slow drain in my tub in one of my bathrooms. I was contacted that afternoon by several plumbers including Joe Blum Plumbing. Joe Blum Plumbing was able to schedule service first thing the next day, so I contracted them. I told them that I would like for them to view the interior of the plumbing with the camera, and to blast water into the pipes clearing all clogs. | |The next morning, a plumber by the name of Vincent arrived. After explaining the problems and showing him the problem areas, Vincent advised that he "jet" all of the drain vents. He didn't bring the camera with him to properly diagnose the problems, so my only choice was to allow Vincent to do what he advised. The laundry room vent and the two bathroom vents are on the roof of my home and the water blasting machine is on the trailer behind Vincent's truck, so there was the first problem. In order to get Vincent to "jet" the drain vents, He said that I would have to operate his "Jet Machine". Now when I tell you that this "Jet Machine" had seen better days, that is putting it politely. I was not comfortable operating the machine, especially because of the crash course of operating the machine. The freaking noise that this machine made, Vincent and I were resorting to screaming and sign language to communicate. This was completely unprofessional. I, to this day, am upset about having to operate their equipment. I am thankful that Angie's List has given me the opportunity to explain the service that I was given. | |Even better than that, the "jetting" did not correct any of the problems. That was a waste of $150.00. | |Vincent then went to work on my tub clog and laundry room clogs from inside of my house. He could not unclog either. He told me that to go to Coburns (a local plumbing supply store) to buy an acid that the name escapes me. Vincent told me to pour the acid into the drains of the tub and laundry room drain and let it set for 15 minutes, then flush both with hot water. I bought the acid and poured to both drains. That stuff smelled disgusting, like rotten eggs. The house smelled like rotten eggs until the next day. It was horrible and unbearable, it stunk so bad. The acid did relieve the clog about 50%, but it still was slow at both locations. | |I went to Lowes and bought a drain bladder that attaches to a water hose and forces water at high pressure into the clog. Both clogs relieved with the bladder that was less than 10 bucks. | |My advise, use caution choosing Joe Blum Plumbing. The date of service was 2/22/2011, so maybe they got their acts together. I won't know because I will not contact them again. I still have the receipt to remind me not to contact them in the future. | |Thank you Angie's List

Description of Work: The plumber charged us for an extra hour he was not even present for. He charged us for three hours of labor when he worked only for two hours. The work he did was adequate.

Description of Work: There was a leak in the shower. The plumber did not fix the problem, instead he ran a snake in the kitchen pipes to the tune of $350,00.

Description of Work: The plumbers roto-rootered our pipes, evaluated their condition and Mr. Blum sent them back to perform a high-powered water jetter to totally unclog out 48 year old pipes.
