While they did fine with getting a technician out to diagnose the reason my AC was not working, they grossly overcharged for an extremely inexpensive part. The technician called me to report his findings after checking out my HVAC system in my house in Gretna. He told me the blower capacitor was defective and that it was a common problem and easily fixed. He told me the capacitor would cost $189. I asked why so expensive for what I knew was normally a cheap part. He said "we charge much less than the other companies". The total charge for the repair was $318 ($129 service charge + $189 capacitor). I was able to get the part number of the capacitor because the the tech guy left the empty box in my garbage can. After a quick search online I found that the most expensive price I could find for that capacitor was $17. They charged me more than 10 times the cost of that part!

Originally estimated in September, but sales person Greg, would not leave or provide a written estimate for our review. Called them again in March asking for a written estimate and the salesman had to return and go over everything but again would not leave a written estimate unless we signed off as wanting to purchase. Although purchasing with this contractor would have allowed us to use the Costco purchase (which we have used for car buying) the way in which they will not provide a written estimate unless contracted seems slimy. Will not contract with and have reported the issue to Costco. Hopefully another Lennox dealer will associate with Costco.

Response from National Air
Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], I personally signed two checks that were mailed to you. Perhaps you have received one or both checks after we had a technician drop off the check. We flushed the lines, and the technician ask you if you had vinegar, since he had run out. You provided it, but didn't want us to charge you for the service. So we did attempt several times to mail a check without success. It is unfortunate that after we have provided you and your wife with excellent service on many occasions, you choose to express yourself in this manner. We appreciate your business, and hope to earn your trust again in the near future. Best regards, Roy Calante President

Needed to have a return air vent placed in a room with poor ventilation. Spoke with Lacey and after speaking with her I also added to have my A/C system serviced and she talked me into getting on an annual plan so I did. I was scheduled Friday for today 6/29/20 in between 12noon and 4pm. Never crazy about those wide time slots so I called day of to see about getting a more specific time. Lacey answered and said the dispatcher would call me back in 10min. One hour goes by so I call back and Lacy answers and I say "you told me I would get a call back in 10min and it's been an hour" she says "hold on" Then the dispatcher Maria answers and asks who I am and my address and I'm wondering they should already have this info. Then she tells me "we don't have you on our schedule". My time is valuable. I don't have time to deal with this carelessness. I'm done with this company. Never getting my business again.

They called to set an appointment. I explained to the person scheduling the appointment that I am extremely busy at work during January and wanted to miss as little time as possible so they helped me with that by scheduling me for a 8 a.m.-9 a.m. window. On the day scheduled no one showed up during the window. At about 9:15 a.m. I received a call from the tech saying "I just realized this appointment was supposed to be for 9 instead of 10". Well, the appointment was NOT for 9 the appointment was for BETWEEN 8-9. He stated that he was 45 minutes away (which probably meant more like an hour) and would I like to wait for him to show up. I told him that when I scheduled the appointment I scheduled it early because I needed to be at work so I would not be able to wait for him. There was no call from anyone else at National Air to follow up or try to apologize in any way for this mix up. Definitely not a good way to try to start a relationship with a new customer.

Sateen from National Air came out last August. I just set up a service call to address a new problem and requested Sateen as my service person because I was so pleased with the previous work. I came to Angie’s List to look for their phone number and noticed the last couple reviews were not as good so it motivated me to put my favorable review in at this time. Every business will have mixed reviews but my experience was very positive. I am using there service again. Thanks National Air.

I was referred by Costco to National Air to install a Lennox AC unit. Two years later, the unit stopped working while we were out of town. I called National Air to come out and take a look since they had installed it, and thankfully they were able to come that same day (a Friday). The man who came to evaluate the issue was quite rude to me and my husband. Everything he said to me made me feel like I had something wrong or was a complete moron - first he asked if the unit was off and how long the unit had been, and I told him everything I knew about the situation. He continued to ask me the same question again and again, to which I replied "I don't know, there's the error code and the panel says it won't start again until the error is cleared." Once he had evaluated the problem, he stated that the motor had blown because we had "abused" our air conditioner and we should have purchased the maintenance plan from National Air. Again, he was very rude about it and was basically chastising us like children saying he could not believe we had let it get that bad, there was clearly mud caked everywhere, and that the warranty probably wouldn't cover the issue because it was clearly neglect. By then it was too late on Friday to get the part and repair, so he said the company would call Monday. That weekend, a friend of mine who is also HVAC licensed looked at the unit and basically told us this guy was taking us for a ride in terms of telling us it was our fault. On Monday, National Air called and said they had the part and could install that day between 12-4 and would call before coming by. It ended up raining heavily, and when I hadn't heard anything by 4:30 I called to check on whether they were still going to make it out that day - it was understandable if not, given the flooding around the city. I was told that they would absolutely still be coming by that evening as long as I was going to be around, and I told them yes I will definitely be here waiting for them. I never heard anything from them. At 8:30 pm, I called again and was routed to an answering service who I gave my information to and was told to expect a call back that evening. I still never heard anything back. Tuesday morning (today, in fact), I got a call from the same technician who had come out previously saying he would be coming by shortly with the new motor. I asked what had happened the previous day, and why I had not been contacted and the man was again very rude, stating that he had nothing to do with whoever told me they would absolutely be coming the previous day and that he was not going to risk his life to install something in the rain. I told him I understood and that the rain itself was not the issue, but the fact that I waited around all day and was never communicated with was upsetting. He continued to ignore my comments and kept interrupting me talking about the rain and the weather so I hung up and called the office. Again, I was routed to the answering service. While leaving my contact information yet again, someone from the office called. I relayed what had happened starting with the encounter on Friday and the technician's rudeness and the woman apologized. I stated that I upset about spending my entire day waiting, well into the late evening, as well as being treated poorly by their technician and that he would not be allowed anywhere near my house. I asked what the company would be doing about the situation they had put me in, and ultimately they said nothing. I will never work with this company again.

The service tech who came out started complaining about how tight of a space the A/C unit was in and appeared not to want to be bothered. I explained to the technician that the drain line may just need a good cleaning since it was leaking. He then informed me that the drain pan was dry and that the pump was in charge of taking care of the drain line and it was working fine. All he did was put a few pieces of PVC pipe in between the ducts since he said the condensation seemed to come from there and he suspected that was the root of my problem. I paid $218 for him to basically leave me in the same situation I was in before. I have also noticed since this happened that the pump is coming on but it is NOT pumping water in and out like it should be doing. This is something he should have noticed and maybe I wouldn’t be collecting water in a pot that I have to empty out everyday. I specifically looked at companies on Angie’s list to avoid situations like this but the next time I will just consult with social media or a friend.

It was perfect service. They made nice recommendations. Our heating and cooling system is much more efficient and running more cheaply. We had a new furnace installed, gas lines run, new ductwork, and a new A/C put in. Our bills are cheaper than they were before the new installation, and our house is much more comfortable.

I go somewhere else next time I need service. Don't feel like they are focused on the customer. Poor communication between office, service people and customer. They were late and made no attempt to contact me. Said they would give me quote on additional work; they forgot that. Needed a hard copy of invoice; had to chase them down for that. Said they offered 10% off for Angie's list; this never happened. I'll give them credit for one thing they knocked off $89 for service call fee; but keep in mind I paid for service on 2 sides for heating units. Their are many competitors that take care of these details.

Everything went well. Justin got our unit running until the unit could be replaced. Greg spent a lot of time accessing what the problems were and how to resolve them. He gave us proposals to consider. Once we made a decision, the day and time was set up to complete the work. The installers/technicians arrived as expected and worked over 2 days to complete the job. They cleaned up when they finished and explained how to operate the system before leaving. Price was a sticker shock but we realized it is the cost of replacing a system that has been in place for 25 years. Our home is much cooler then it has ever been. Hopefully we will see a difference in our electric bill soon. While protecting the floor in our foyer, the cardboard they put in place dislodged the weather stripping on the bottom of our front door. We were told someone will come fix this. Hopefully this will happen soon. Other than that, we are very satisfied with our experience with National Air.

Although I'm reasonably vigilant about performing normal preventative maint. procedures to my A/C system myself (seasonally)...My 12yr. old system (using a now obsolete old refrigerant R-22) I was convinced my old system's compressor had finally given out at last....Not So...; When technician "Dustin" and an assistant showed up and peeled back the control's cover....a burnt/broken wire, powering the "run" capacitor of the system was an obvious fix.....They replaced that and also tightened up (fastened) some old, loose (wire-dangling) components in the box. Unit fired back up just fine to limp on for a while longer this season..... Good, professional and thorough repairs (with engaging discussion about my existing system's problems and future resolve/replacement) Looking forward to getting an estimate from them for my A/C systems complete replacement in about a year or less. Good work and great to meet you guys.....thanks.

I was told by your A/C technician on Tuesday that I will need to replace my fan motor (located on the outside unit). Well that information was wrong. It turns out that the first technician (Jessi) said I need to replace the capacitor, which was incorrectly wired. Which was causing the fan to run extremely slow. All this was told to me by a repair technician with another company. Of course, I had to pay this company another $100.00. That's not including the $170.00 I paid your company. I am very disappointed by the incorrect diagnosis by your technician and the money and time this experience has caused me.

Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], Our sincere apologies with regards to the experience you had. National Air strives to make every visit, and great experience to our customers. In this case, The technician Jessi explained that the capacitor had failed as a result of improper installation. We cannot confirm who had previously installed it. However, you mentioned to Jessie, that you had a friend who could change the capacitor, and did not want to replace it with us. The two tune-up's that you purchased did not include repairs. Please excuse any misunderstanding. Best Regards, Maria Calante

Install went well and crew was courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Unfortunately, they made a mistake re-capping the Freon line by the compressor which led to a spray of coolant from the unit about two hours after they left. To their credit they came back immediately and fixed the leak but stated not enough Freon had leaked out to necessitate adding Freon back in.

The technician Timmy arrived on time and began troubleshooting the Furnace. He tested several items and then told me that the issue is a cracked heat exchanger and that I will need to buy an entire furnace. He stated that this had been the 3rd cracked heat exchanger he had come across that month and that he could tell it was cracked by the flame profile of the burners. He also stated that with a cracked heat exchanger I likely had Carbon Monoxide in my house and shouldnt run it. After he left I took apart the furnace myself and inspected the exchanger (which he did not do) and could not find any signs of cracks. I then proceeded to get another company out to inspect it whom confirmed this and stated that exchanger cracks are very rare and that he thought the issue was the blower not producing enough throughput. Once I changed out the blower motor everything worked as it should. Timmy the technician at National Air either did not know what the issue was and guessed it to be an exchanger leak because he was too lazy to inspect it or he may get a commission for the amount of work done on units and therefore lies about the condition to make more money. He stated my house was the 3rd one so I feel bad for the other two people and who knows how many others that were suckered by this cheat. I did some research online and found a news company in a different state that did an undercover story that had 6 companies come out to inspect a furnace and 2 of those companies told the owner they had cracked heat exchangers. The one thing in item these companies had were the technicians received monetary incentive for repairs that were done on homes. I would highly recommend not using National Air to inspect your Furnace/AC as my experience with them could have cost me thousands of dollars if i listened to their technician "Timmy"
