My mother's brand new heater wouldn't turn on the week of March 10th. She placed a call to Keefe's and a technician by the name of Nigil G. serviced her unit. Thankfully it was only a fuse. However, a week later the unit went out again. She called to have them come out, but they wanted to charge her again. So we hired another company. Apparently the fuse that was replaced by Nigil was installed INCORRECTLY! So $157. 10 went down the drain! Now after leaving a message for a supervisor or manager no one is calling back.

Keefe’s Sucks: How do I take the day off of work, sit here ALL day waiting... then, get a call at 5:20pm to tell me that no one is coming. I am flying out to Houston in the morning and can not reschedule. This is the biggest ******** that I have ever seen. If you would have let me know earlier, I could have called a different company out. Expect for me to troll every social media site and review site to explain why NO ONE SHOULD EVER USE KEEFES AC SERVICE. Keefe’s does not value their customers and they do NOT deserve your business. Keefe’s should spend less money on billboards and more money on providing quality service in a timely manner. ZERO STARS. LAST PLACE.

I had several ac companies come out to give me quotes to change out my home ac system. I got much lower prices on the same manufacturer units that Keefe's had quoted me on from the other companies. I also received quotes on other manufacturer's ac system units. I had been a customer of Keefe's for many years and I called them to see if they could lower the price of changing out my home ac system because I had received other lower price quotes. Their answer to my question of asking them if they could lower the quoted ac system change out price was NO. I had looked up the cost for the quoted manufacturer's ac units on the internet also (much lower). Keefe's gave me the very highest quoted price of all of the ac companies that came out and quoted me a price to change out my home ac system.
Description of Work: Keefe's came out to repair my not working home ac system and quoted me a price to change out my home ac system after doing temporary repair work and the ac system problems showed that it needed to be changed out in the near future.

Keefe's did a full installation for us on our 100+ year old Irish Channel house. Our sales rep spent a ton of time discussing options with us to find a good system within our budget. We expected Keefe's to be pricier than competitors because they are bigger, but they were not at all. In all likelihood they were competitively priced, but took the time to find the *right* solution, which ultimately got us to the right price. The installation crew (Mike & Brad) did great work, and were extremely flexible and friendly. They asked for our input at every turn, and handled set-backs with grace and patience. It was HOT and DIRTY in our attic, and they took that in stride as well. Keefe's extended warranty / maintenance plan also sounds like a good way to go, essentially extending their labor warranty for as long as you are willing to continue their maintenance plan -- which you likely need anyway.

They were great to me. They normally call me because I would forget. They'd say there was a guy in the area and ask if I'd be home and they'd come out. They will notify me when it's time for an inspection and we would set up a date. They are always on time unless they notify me. I have been with them for so long. Once I came back from Katrina, in 2007 or 2008, I had a guy to come out and asked how I would like to have a contract. I said sure, so I've been with them every since.
Description of Work: Just a check for the air conditioner season. They will come in January for heat and spring or summer.

Salesman was good. Not honest, but good at sales. Convinced me that the significantly higher cost of Keefe's was worth it compared to other vendors due to professionalism. Guy in charge of installation came and checked things out, told my wife it would be completed within a normal day's work. Next day, installers arrived an hour and a half after I got the call that they were on their way. After beginning, they took a 2+ hour lunch. After about 630-7pm, I asked how much longer they'd be. Was told maybe an hour. 9pm-ish, I asked again how long they would be. Was told they might not finish. Called office and complained. At 11:00pm, they were using loud power tools and still working. About 11:45pm, they left without cleaning up a sizeable mess of sheetrock and fiberglass in my hallway, front room, and front lawn. Had to apologize to neighbors and clean up the mess that blew onto their lawns. Spoke to a female who identified herself as an owner the next morning. She was very apologetic and convinced me this was not normal. She promised me a 2 year service contract instead of the standard one year that they give to new customers and a free "Nest" thermostat. They sent another team that week who undid much of the first team's job, fixing what was a poorly done mess. Second team did act professional and competent. I did have one minor problem in the year: My condensation drain clogged, probably with algae. While it did cost me $150 to have him blow it out with compressed air and run some cleaner through it (even with the service contract), he did come quickly on a Sunday. The maintenance guys who came by to check things out were very friendly and professional. I mentioned a minor leak where the heater vent was installed, protruding through the roof, he went up and made sure it was sealed properly. Just received a call that I let my service contract expire (It's only been one year). So they clearly lied about that one. I wish I could rate the maintenance/repair techs separately from the rest of Keefe's operation, because those guys were consistently good. I also appreciate the Nest thermostat. Otherwise, from sales guy to management, I feel like they are not professional or trustworthy. Whether management is incompetent or simply dishonest regarding my supposed 2 year service contract I don't know nor care at this point. They have caused me a lot of stress and I am not an easily stressed or angered guy. My advice is go with one of the other guys. Even if they aren't better, at least they are less expensive and offer interest free financing. I'm going to be paying this puppy off for a longer time because I was naive enough to believe a salesman. Facepalm. Ultimately: Service Techs- great Price- high relative to competition Management- either dishonest or incompetent Overall experience? Would not recommend.

I researched AC companies on Angie's List and put in a service order online on a Sunday to highly-rated Keefe's. I like that they're a local family owned business. I received a call from Keefe's around 9:30 AM the next morning (Monday) and was told a service technician would be at our house by noon, and Thai arrived as scheduled. He put on paper booties so he wouldn't mess up the floors (I told him no need to do this, but he said it's how they do things). Thai figured out that the freon was low and gave me the option of looking for a leak or topping off the freon. I chose to top off because the system was installed in '96 and if we have continued problems, it may make more sense to replace than repair. The majority of the cost was the R22 freon, which was $311 for the amount I needed (from previous work on our AC units, I know that freon is super expensive now). I couldn't be more pleased with Keefe's responsiveness and technician Thai--he was incredibly polite and explained everything. I also like that both the scheduler and service tech both told me what a service call costs upfront, and love that they're paperless and do everything on a tablet. I had a receipt emailed to me by the time the service tech left the driveway!
Description of Work: Four ton AC system wasn't cooling although condenser was running. Keefe's figured out that we were low on freon within 5 minutes, filled the system, advised me that there may be a leak (and gave me option of doing leak testing), and had my system working within an hour.

I've been told on more than one occasion that the system needs replacing so there is no need to repair due to cost. It is 3 years later and 1 part that would have cost $300 to replace has caused my wall and floor tiles to be ruined. The system still works, except for that part. Also, one Sunday when I called for service I was told that it would cost $800 for him to come out. I mentioned I had a maintenance contract and he said that made no difference. Of course Monday their office called and said that was incorrect and I would have been refunded the money.

I have absolutely no complaints with this company. The technicians come to the house, perform their duties in an extremely professional and courteous manner. If something needs repair they supply estimates first and usually with more than one option. They are available on emergence basis when needed. Fair pricing. I have been extremely pleased with their work.

They have done excellent service for us. They are always available and always respond to my calls. If I need them on an emergency basis, they come right away. The technicians that come out are very knowledgeable. One technician usually comes out to do the maintenance routine and it usually takes about an hour to complete. I have not had any major problems in 10 years now.

We have three A/C systems for our 4000 sq. ft. house. I had professional cleaning service come to my house to give estimate for cleaning ducts. They did a very comprehensive free inspection and estimate (separate Angie's List review), with the result that the ducts were very old (26 years old), not energy efficient, leaking and dirty. However, they did not do duct replacement work. I have used Keefe's for the past 16 years, and have always been please with their timely service and cleanup. Over the past years they have replaced all three A/C - Heating systems in our home. I also have the maintenance program with them for all three systems. I called Keefe's on Wednesday and they could come Thursday am. Keefes called me Thursday morning to tell me that John was on the way, and he showed up shortly thereafter. John did a very thorough inspection of all three systems, and determined that they could replace two of the duct systems (duct box next to A/C evaporator coil, ducts with 8.0 factor insulation, and outlet boxes. The third system they could not get into (between floors) without taking down the ceiling). John provided me with estimates for various replacement options, and said that they could do the work the next day (Friday). Keefe's office called me Friday am and said when the techs would arrive, and they did. They worked on the upstairs system first, replacing the duct box, ducts and outlet boxes as contracted. They did very good work, sealed all joints with mastic, checked the system for proper operation and leaks, and cleaned up well. At this point it was 3:00 pm, having taken longer that they first expected, so they suggested that they come back for the downstairs system so they did not get started and not be able to finish until very late. They contacted office and scheduled the remained of the work for Tuesday. I fully expect that they will finish the downstairs then. I will provide an update when finished. Following Tuesday update: Keefe's office called me about 8:00 am and said that the installation techs were on the way; and they showed up as scheduled. They tore out and replaced with upgraded materials the intake plenum, outlet duct box, ducting, and vent boxes. They covered flooring below their work areas. The finished installation was excellent, and they cleaned up all areas. The techs were very cordial and took all old materials with them. Right after the techs finished and made sure that I was happy with their work and left, Cathy from the office called me to make sure that the work and clean up were satisfactory. The estimator and technician, John, said that he would come back sometime after the work was finished to make sure everything was done correctly. Update: four business days after the duct replacement Cathy from the Keefe's office called me and said that John could come back and check all that was installed to make sure that it was done correctly. John showed up about 30 minutes later, checked the systems, and found everything good.

They gave me an estimate that I thought seemed fair., so I chose them to replace my very old a/c system. However, the new a/c I got did not live up to the promises they made. It was supposedly a bigger system that I had before and they said it should save on air conditioning costs. NOT! Worse yet, it distributes air unevenly... I don't use my upstairs, and it cools upstairs just fine, but where I stay, downstairs, is very warm...so I have to lower the thermostat to cool where I stay, causing my bill to go up. My older system worked way better! It was cooler and more consistant. I put the air down lower now and it still isn't as cool as my other system, but my bill is higher. I've called them out here to check it more than once, but they just tell me it's fine. Then , they said it might be old air ducts. Well, I thought when I got a new system that inculded everything....apparently not. Plus, my old A/C cranked just fine with the old air ducts; so what happened to the air ducts now that the new system is in. Bad experience.

What confuses me is that the work was done almost 4 years ago, but your review was just posted a month ago (my apologies for not addressing the issue sooner). From our records, the unit itself has been tested for malfunction and is in good working order. The issue with air flow within your ducts may be caused by some kind of flow restriction due to blockage, and wouldn’t require replacement if that is the case. However, as for your previous system replacement, the unit itself is the only item replaced unless otherwise requested…Air duct replacement is a larger endeavor than what was initially contracted and comes at additional cost. If there is anything else we may be able to do to help with, please let us know…we are happy to help, and believe that maintaining quality relationships with our customers is essential to our continued success. Please call us if you would like us to look at your duct work. Again i apologize for your bad experience.

Process was very easy. I called the company and was scheduled for a visit by the technician right away. The tech easily recognized the problem and was able to fix it at the same visit. Very efficient work.
