Terry J. Leonard, Jr. established Express Heating and Air Conditioning Services, LLC after serving for over 20 years in the Air Condition Industry in the New Orleans Metropolitan area. Terry began the company with only one truck. He served as the lone technician, office assistant, and field representative. Through Terry's hard work and the company's continued success, Express Heating and Air Conditioning Services, LLC now boasts 10 employees. Projections are to double that number as the company reaches out to serve even more commercial and residential customers throughout Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemine, St. Bernard and St. Charles parishes.

American Home Shield sent out Express Heating and Air. Mike was nice and gave an assessment of our furnace which was very old and needing to be replaced. Speaking with AHS and thankfully asking the right questions revealed that I was being double charged for "AC & Furnace". The transition and the plenum are essentially being done at the same time, but I was line itemed for everything and it was run in 2 separate transactions. AHS covered $1690 and then my part not covered was $3860. They even were charging me $75 for an extension ladder. The consultant at AHS told me she had never seen a vent pipe over $500 anywhere and I was charged $973 and I am in a typical size home. Decided to go with another company after comparing costs.....It will cost me $3588 total and half of that is covered by my warranty.
Description of Work: Furnace replaced and brought up to code Had used before to replace capacitor and defreeze unit. Paid $75 for service call....no problem.

They came right when scheduled, quickly diagnosed the issue (bad capacitor), and fixed it using a part they had in their van.

Called service from out of state on a rental property. New tenant accidentally turned off master power switch. Easy fix, but too hard to explain over the phone to the tenant. Reliable service.

It took 2 tries to get the problem solved. The first trip the tech said the problem was the gas flex hose vibrating against the case. I was doubtful because I had already checked that, but he showed me and the rattle stopped when he held the gas line. He strapped the gas line down and put padding around the hose where it enters the case. Unfortunately, 2 days later I was hearing the noise again. I checked the gas line and it was definitely not the problem, so I called them again. The tech came back first thing the next AM and spent about 30 minutes isolating the vibration. It was the burner assembly for the furnace. He tightened the screws firmly and solved the problem. It was a tough problem to track down. There was no charge for the second trip.

Called them up to get a quote on getting my ac unit recharged. Said it was a minimum $59 to come out. I said ok. She was all about coming out to do the work until I told her I had already purchased the refrigerant needed for the unit, so I just wanted to pay them to come out to do the work. She said they couldn't do that. I asked why and she said they don't use other peoples product. i told her it was brand new and still had the seal on it, she said they couldn't. I asked her how much they would charge to put in there refrigerant and she said $55 a pound. I told her i only paid $140 for the 25pound tank i had. I told her " I see, if you can't charge that high rate for your product, your not interested in doing the work", she chuckled and said exactly. These guys get so greedy when its the summer time, its amazing. It's obvious that they have a set amount they feel they must make on each job and it must be a lot to turn down a quick service call. Don't call these guys unless you ready to pay the big bucks.

Came home on Wed to find AC not cooling house. Called home warranty company (American Home Shield) for service. According to AHS the repair notice was sent to Express at approx. 3:30 p.m. I heard nothing from them that day. Thursday morning I called Express around 10 a.m. to ask about scheduling. I was told that scheduling is only done in the afternoon between noon and 3 p.m. and that someone would call me at the end of scheduling time. I did receive a call to set up repair service for the following day between 1 and 5 p.m. I guess we were lucky to get an appointment for Friday. Service tech was great, diagnosed the problem and completed work within 30 minutes. That's the only A rating they deserve. The company's scheduling policy is horrible. I can't believe a company has a scheduling office that only operates a few hours a day and stays in business. It was hinted around to me that since it was a referral from AHS the call didn't get top priority. I'm guessing that's because they can't come in and charge me a fortune for things I really didn't need. We ended up having to board our animals and rent a hotel room the 2nd night because of the extreme heat. I'm glad we could afford to do so. I would never call this company directly for any work. Too many companies in the area guarantee same or next day service.

After the nightmare with National Air, we called Express and the customer service rep was very polite and was able to send someone out the same day. George came within our appt window time promptly and was very professional, polite, and cordial. He went in the attic and realized what our issue was and even explained how simple the repair will be. Although there was nothing he can do, I am very pleased with the service that was rendered. I got his card and would definitely would recommend this company to others. I respect a company that treats people and their time with respect. Great job!!!!
Description of Work: After George assessed our issue he explained that we needed a plumber but he did help me clean up the water and explained what we needed done and even mentioned a few plumber names in the area.

This was set up through American home shield. It was good service and quick work. It was difficult to schedule though. They don't do appointments in advance so if you work 8-5 and can't take off on short notice then it can be inconvenient. Overall I'm happy though- my house is cool now and that's all I wanted. The price listed is cost to me. It doesn't include what American home shield paid.

I was very pleased with the service. The tech went above and beyond
Description of Work: The services was provided through a Home Warranty contract so my total cost was only the $75.00 deductible. My AC condenser was not working. They came in, checked the condenser, identified the problem and fixed it very quickly. The tech also cleaned the entire condenser. Then, the technician came inside my home checked my entire AC unit, cleaned the internal filter and made sure everything was in good working order and didn't need replacement. I was very pleased.

Both in July and August, the technician immediately tried to sell a high end unit to replace the one we had which is ten years old. He repeatedly stated that the present unit was under sized for the house. Ironically he gave us an estimate on a replacement unit of the same size. He stated that the concrete adjacent to the equipment under the house would have to be removed and replaced in order to install the new equipment under the house. He reported to American Home Shiled that the unit was undersize after each visit. American Home Shield sent out a second A/C company for a second opinion. The information reported back to them was completely opposite of that of Express A/C. After ten days without A/C we finally received a "buy-out" from American Home Shield as an alternative instead of them sending Express out to repair the problem. When we purchased the house two years ago, we had a home inspection done. The A/C and furnace was noted to be adequate and functioning. The company that American Home Shield sent out for a second opinion also found the equipment to be of adequate size. The company that we hired to replace our present equipment have not found it necessary to remove and replace concrete as recommended by Express. In short, we have no confidence in the integrity of Express Heating and A/C and absolutely would not use their services or recommend them to anyone. Description of Work: American Home Shield was called on August 6, 2013 because our A/C was not producing cold air. They sent a technician from Express Heating and A/C. The same technician was sent on July 8, 2013 because the blower on the A/C ran continuously. Two wires were connected at that time and some refrigerant was added. On the second visit the technician checked the refrigerant and said that there was a leak. Arrived home on 09/03/2013 to find a/c was off. After checking thermostat (which wasn't working) and all house breakers (which were working), I contacted AHS, who in turn contacted Express. The dispatcher from Express called and scheduled the appointment for 09/05/2013. The technician arrived within a half hour of the beginning of the three hour window for the appointment and quickly replaced the motor wire. When the tech asked me to set the thermostat, the unit started up immediately and began to cool quickly. Extremely pleased with service.

I was not too satisfied with their service. They did not follow up. What I disliked about this company is that they said that I could call them if I had any problems within 60 days of their first visit and that I did not have to pay any additional fee. So, I called them and they did not follow-up. Then I had to contact American Shield and, of course, I was not charged another $60 since somebody else came out instead of the Express Heating & Air Conditioning Services. They came within a day or so I called the warranty service provider so they had good response.
Description of Work: I used Express Heating & Air Conditioning Services for HVAC service. American Shield is my home warranty company and they sent Express out to help me with my problem.

The last service to 2520 Bluebird St was 10/24/2012 at this time we replaced the coil on the air handler through American Home Shield for a total of $450.00 We have not received a work order since then for that address. As of January 2014 we dropped Slidell from our zip code source as the time to travel to that area is too long. We no longer have a technician located in that area.

They were sent out by one of my warranty company, so I have dealt with them a few times. They are good, but just a little pricey. The last bid they gave me for a job, I got like two other bids and ended up going with someone else, but theirs is usually thorough but a little on the high side, but not the highest. They left me a bid for work that needed to be done and they gave me a thorough write up with that but I ended up asking someone else to do all of that for a much reasonable price. The initial job was the evaporative coil. I would like them to be a little more detailed about their work, kind of be a little more informative with the customers. Unless a warranty is included or something to discount that price, that is the only way I would really use them. As far as the quality, they normally get it going but like I said they need to be a little more detailed with their customers for the customer to make a decision as to whether or not they want something done. I would probably use them as the last company, but I do not see any reason why anybody should not use them, they are great.

We were out under American Home Shield and found the evaporator coil leaking Freon. As with the customers policy there are items not covered to do the job which falls on the homeowner. The customer elected not to pay for these items and outsourced the repair.

I really enjoyed their service. I didn’t enjoy the service from the company that came before them since they didn’t do anything. Express Heating & Air Conditioning went out there and cleaned everything. They saw where I needed parts; so they ordered the parts, came and put them in. It was great and the person who came was great as well. I have the home owner’s insurance; so I paid only one deductible. I would definitely use them again.

Technician said the evaporator coil needed cleaning. We set up for them to return the next day. The office called and said that I needed a new coil for a price of $4000. Funny, the technician who eyeballed the coil didn't mention this. As for Express response, it is a lie. I was told $3561 for a coil replacement. At no time was I told $1911 to replace the coil. When I suggested that the $3561 price was outrageous, the girl said I should take out a mortgage on my home. She never suggested a lower price. As for the grade, I'd like to change it lower than an F since you're now lying. I also plan to file a grievance with American Home Shield for trying to take advantage of one of their customers. By the Bryan's United cleaned the coil and the blower for $1100 and priced me $1800 to replace the coil. Update: In response to Express, the lady on the phone specifically said the $3561 was for coil replacement. When I objected to this high price, she suggested that I take out an equity loan to pay it. Thanks. At not time was a price of $1911 ever mentioned. They've compounded the first lie with another.

We came out to your home the first time through your home warranty company on September 3, 2010 at that time informed you that your coil was 100% dirty and the fins were smashed by someone previously trying to clean the coil and advised you at that time to change the coil. We gave you a price to change the entire inside system for $3561.00. On August 14, 2012 you called your home warranty again and the office told you to pull and clean this coil would be a waste of money on your part. We could not guarantee in good faith that the coil would hold up. We gave you the same price from 2010 to change the system for $3561.00. Or change the coil for 1911.00. At that time you would not finish the conversation and hung up on the girl in the office. We feel that we would have done you and injustice by cleaning the evaporator coil. Your work order was reveiwed by management that is when it was determinded that your coil was too old and in bad shape to clean. we apologize about the misunderstanding and we hope that reconcider the grade that you gave us. Thanks for understanding.

Suggested that I myself seal a leak (of which I was already aware) at bottom of A/C air handler as this may be a source of insulation getting into condensing coil, and thus reducing efficiency. However, leak on portion where pressure is positive (i.e., blowing out). So, it is doubtful insulation would be getting in via this path. Very uninspiring service, if you can call it that.
Description of Work: Company called through home warranty service. A/C not dehumidifying properly. Came and inspected A/C very superficially. Did not want to do any work, as home warranty apparently wouldn't cover any of it.

THIS CALL WAS RAN IN THE MANNER AND TIME APPROVED BY THE HOMEOWNERS HOME WARRANTY COMPANY. THE SERVICE FEE AND APPROVED REPAIRS ARE IN THE CONTRACT PURCHASE BY THE HOMEOWNER. EXPRESS DOES NOT MAKE ANY DECISION AN APPROVED OR DENIED REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT. THE HOMEOWNER WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THEIR HOME WARRANTY COMPANY.
