We ordered a new roof in September 2010 with Songy & Sons. Early in the process of working with Songy & Sons we were concerned because Nathan Songy was aggressive with our homeowners insurance adjuster and the clash between the two was so intense that the adjuster's supervisor took over. It left us with an uncomfortable feeling. While waiting for our homeowners insurance adjuster to make their final report we changed our order for the shingles in December 2010 for more energy efficient shingles. We were told the new shingles would be in and installed on our roof by the end of December 2010. We wrote a check to Songy & Sons for $2955.00 on December 16, 2010 which was cashed. The end of December 2010 deadline passed and every few weeks we would call Songy & Sons and get another postponed date for shipment of the shingles and installation. Nathan Songy was not very proactive to call us. We had to call him every time which was stressful. After seven months of postponed dates and excuses as to why our telephone calls were not answered or returned we called the manufacturer of the shingles and the shingle distributor in June 2011. The distributor stated that the shingles were only just ordered 3 months ago even though we had ordered them through Songy & Sons 8 months ago and that the shingles were not paid for. The distributor stated that they have tried to contact Nathan Songy of Songy & Sons numerous times and have left messages but Nathan Songy has not returned any of the phone calls. The last time I spoke with Nathan Songy was July 13, 2011 where I notified him that we canceled the order with him and wanted our $2955 returned to us within seven(7) business days. The 7 business days have passed and we have not heard from Songy & Sons nor has the roofing distributor. I would not use this company for any services that they provide.
Description of Work: Ordered a new roof in September 2010. Paid $2955.00 in December 2010 for new roof with promised installation date before the end of December 2010. We cancelled the contract July 13, 2011 after waiting 8 months for the shingles to be shipped. We went to Small Claims Court in Baton Rouge May 13, 2013 and a judgment was ruled in our favor for Songy & Sons to pay us $2,659.50 plus legal interest from the date of judicial demand, until paid, and for all costs of the proceedings. We went to the Louisiana Residential Contractors Board(225.765.2301) September 4, 2013 for a hearing with three other families who have complaints. Songy & Sons was found guilty and fined $11,179.97 plus court costs and his contractors license was suspended until he pays the judgment to us. Attended Louisiana Residential Contractors Board Committee Meeting today, November 6, 2013 where Songy & Sons asked for a re-hearing/reconsideration of penalty which was denied today. Four(4) new judgments were brought up against Songy & Sons: Bayview Loan Servicing, LLC, Roofing Products & Building Supply Co., LLC, LA Safety Assoc. of Timbermen-Self Insurers Fund, ABC Supply Company, Inc. Songy & Sons has a cease & desist order, must pay a fine of $11, 179.97 plus $500 court costs for a total fine of $11,679.97, plus they must pay the judgment against us and the four new judgments must be satisfied before he can do any work.

That was all it took! He gave me instructions on filing a claim with our insurance company, met with the adjuster on the roof and it was then established that we indeed had quite a leak around the chimney and that the roof needed to be replaced. I had some contact with the adjuster but the Songy folks did all the work with the insurance company and we were approved for a new roof even with an upgrade to architectural shingles. Can I tell you how happy I was? The workers came out soon after our deposit was made and put a beautiful roof down as well as spending hours on replacing the chimney flashing. The house looks great, we have no leaks anywhere and we had only negligible extra expenses for replacing rotten wood under the roof itself. I am a really satisfied customer and look forward to getting other needed projects done!
Description of Work: I originally contacted Songy and Sons to get an estimate for a professional pressure wash. The representative came out, looked at the house and gave me an estimate on the spot. We went inside to discuss the details. While in our living room, this attentive young man noticed some water stains on our ceiling and down the interior brick wall of the chimney. Our focus immediately switched to a possible roof problem which was causing the leaks. He got his portable ladder, climbed onto the roof and saw that we had hail damage.

We are very impressed with the work done by Nathan Songy and his roofers. He went above and beyond in working with us and our insurance company. I noticed he had fixed a few other things that we had not discussed and the price remained as quoted.Songy and Sons is a very professional and honest company. When we need any type of work done on our home in the future we will use Songy and Sons.
Description of Work: Repaired our roof from a tree that had fallen on to our home.
