He represented himself as having licenses and skills for construction and plumbing. He got an electrician he knew, and the electrician's work was good. Mr. Bella got on the job almost immediately. However, as the job progressed, it was clear his laborers were not skilled carpenters, and perhaps neither was Mr. Bella. My wife had to take off work a week to watch over the job. Even then, his men used a nail gun on the expensive composite decking instead of screws, walls and fencing were not square to the house, and some design essentials were ignored, such as a way to service the spa. We asked for a straight-edge finish on the top of the fencing, and he dog-eared it. We had to buy more material to cover. He did not use flashing under the lower edge of the spa enclosure roof. Instead, he covered it so that water running off the roof ran back under the metal roofing material soaking the pressboard roofing deck. We chose to have someone else fix the problem, as we had not required a bid and all of his labor was chargeable to us, even his mistakes. Some of the remaining problems are going to be expensive to fix, or we'll just have to live with them. UGH!
