Mr. Liemann is friendly and seems competent as far as installation goes (we have not had problems with the sewer line, but will have someone come out to check his work after my experience). But he cut corners and did not find out from city where the gas main was located before he started digging. He used a backhoe to dig under chain wall. When he got close to the connection, he decided not to dig out the rest of the way by hand and hit the gas main with the backhoe. The house and immediate vicinity filled with gas and I (and my movers) had to evacuate. The fire department showed up and roped off the area. The power company also showed up and dug another hole in my yard to shut off the gas main and then repaired the break. Mr. Liemann then finished the job and charged me $200 more than the quote, even though his negligence created an explosion hazard. He did not repair/fill in/smooth the hole in my yard, but suggested that the City still needed to come out and do something. When the hole in the yard remained untouched for over a month, I followed up, but I couldn't get a straight answer out of him regarding whether I could go ahead and landscape the yard. I appreciate him being busy. Being busy is good for business, but not when cutting corners to get to the next job or just being lazy means creating an emergent, dangerous situation quite unnecessarily. He assured me that this was the first time that he had ever broken a gas main. I would have a hard time trusting him in the future.
