The owner came to give us an estimate, he came without a ladder and he is very rude, very unprofessional, I would not recommend him to anyone because of the way he presented himself to us, he called my husband names when he did not agree with the suggestions. Did not give us the estimate not after our insurance company provides the adjusted price. unethical, not good to present the business. when my husband disagrees with him, he called my husband an A-hole, We were just amazed with the attitude.

Response from DUCOTE ROOFING & CONSTRUCTION
I did show up with a ladder it was actually 6 months ago Your husband was very unpleasant with me when I offered to meet with State Farm Rep Ned Theriot. Your husband stated he did not want any roofer co conspiring with his insurance company. He acted as though he was doing me a favor for trying to help him get his roof replaced . I then told him he was an ....... and I refuse to work for people of such To all of you who hide behind Angie's list and cannot go to the Better Business Bureau because it is not a valid claim I wish you the best ....Ducote 26 years in business and four unhappy ones. I think we're doing pretty well

This past spring I contracted with Shannon Ducote to replace the roofs on my home (cottage type), garage, and workshop. Mr. Ducote performed a great presentation and after receiving several estimates, I chose to hire him. Mr. Ducote agreed to replace the areas of rotten wood that were visible and should any others be discovered, he would add the cost of material and labor to the quote. The day arrived for the job to begin and the crew stayed quite busy. I must add that there was much confusion about who would be performing the rotten wood repair, either the roofing crew or the carpenter and his helper. After several calls to Mr. Ducote it was finally decided. I had pointed out all the rotten areas (that I was aware of) to the carpenter and assumed these were being repaired while I was making several trips to the lumber yard to provide the carpenter with all the needed materials. Fast forward......After the roof was completed and fully paid for, I started with my next project of stripping and painting the house exterior. My painter pointed out areas of rot that were newly discovered as well as those that were revealed to Mr. Ducote and the carpenter and never repaired. Mr. Ducote told me during the first and only time I'd ever laid eyes on him that only the old shingles would be removed and the old felt paper would remain. I found that rather puzzling yet he possessed great rhetoric to overcome my questioning on that point. I now realize that if the old felt paper is removed there's a strong possibility that rotten/questionable areas of decking becomes exposed which adds to the cost and labor, and if Mr. Ducote eats that cost it cuts into his profits and if the customer has to pay it, they are not happy customers! I have no doubt that the areas (both revealed and unknown) of rotten wood were apparent to the roofing crew when shooting nails into "butter" instead of intact wood, yet nothing was ever mentioned until the painting process began. Also in the contract was the installation of a solar attic fan. Since Mr. Ducote had been paid and disappeared, I ended up having to contact one of his workers to come back to install it. This young man showed up and I knew it would be impossible for him to do it alone so I had to assist him (trust me, I'm far too old be be on top of any roof)! I called and texted Mr. Ducote for 3 months trying to get my roof completed. I suppose Mr. Ducote assumed that I, a single (late 50's) female would quietly fade away, however, I can confirm he was wrong! After an additional cost of $800 to hire a carpenter (just for the labor) to finally repair the neglected areas which was even more difficult to do because so much time had passed the shingles had melted down with the hot summer heat. I have not had any leaks, thank goodness, however there is one area that doesn't seem to be laying properly. The crew worked very fast, although on the first day I had to ask one of the workers to discard his beer......ney ney, not on my property (before lunch)! I will be contacting the BBB in Lafayette next as Mr. Ducote proudly displays his rating on his signs, and I would be remiss if I didn't share my experience with them as well, as I don't miss an opportunity to share it with anyone now when the subject comes up. Heaven help me if I ever get a leak......... Does anyone have the name of a good roofer??

Shannon's crew never seemed to show up when they were supposed to. Very hard to get in touch with the owner, Shannon. Doesn't return calls. My roof has 2 leaks now, one where they cut a hole for the vent pipe cap and one next to the fireplace. Had to call another roofer to talke a look and he said the entire sheet of metal has to now be replaced because Ducote screwed up the job and did things that should never have been done. Also, there was no caulk around the fireplace even though I had been told it was done. Ducote also worked on the metal roof of my employer and now it has a big leak. Ducote's workers are sketchy at best. I wouldn't hire this company to roof a dog house. My husband and I didn't know anything about metal roves when we bought our home but we sure are learning some valuable lessons. I am waiting on a quote from the new roofer I found and itf all turns out well, I'll be sure to share his info on Angie's List. It is very hard to fine someone good who works on a metal roof.

Took 3 months to finish. Was suppose to take 30 days. Workers were a bunch of goofballs. Owner was hardly ever here to make sure job was being done correctly. Had to pay an extra $1000 for the stain he had under estimated. They were suppose to spray the stain but so say the sprayer was not working. It was done by hand and as a result will, probably have to hire someone to do touch up. The new double wide gate is uneven. Will have to be corrected as well. Will not use them again and strongly suggest others not as well. That about sums it up.
