SNELL'S GLASS SVC

I contacted this provider approximately 2 weeks ago to replace brokenen window panes in 5 windows. When I initially called I explained to the gentleman that 2 windows were upstairs in a garage apartment (these windows are over the parking area). He said that he would call me back with an estimate later that day, which he did not. I called him the next day and he gave me an estimate of ~$280.00. I told him I wanted to hire him for the job. He told me he was backed up because of the rain and it would be the next week and that he would call me. The next week I did not hear from him. On Wednesday of the next week I called and spoke to a lady. She said that he would be out replacing some cabinets the next day (Thursday) and could most likely come repair the windows in the afternoon. I asked if he would have to measure and then come back with the glass and she said no, that he was able to cut the glass on site. No word at all on Thursday or Friday. On Monday I called again, and she said that the truck came in with glass and 2 panes were broken but that she would speak with "him" and get back to me. She stated he had a winshield to repair but could possibly come in the afternoon. No word for several hours. In the afternoon I called again, this time reaching the man again. He hesitated, then said he could possibly come in the afternoon to "look" at the windows. I asked him about please scheduling a definite time and day to get this taken care of as it had already been 2 weeks. At this point he asked if the 2nd floor windows opened or not. I told him no, they do not open. He began to say that he wasn't sure he could repair those as he would have a difficult time getting to them on a ladder. I asked him why he did not tell me this 2 weeks ago so that I could have called someone else. He responded with "I didn't thing you were in a hurry". I asked him what that had to do with the fact that he knew 2 weeks ago that they were 2nd story windows and this is the first I heard of him having to come look at it first. He had no answer. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I would have gladly called another company 2 weeks ago. I would never recommend this company! I would advise anyone to stick with the larger companies who will schedule a date and time for repair. I have used larger companies in the past and just thought this time I would try a local business...mistake!

I had used Snell's to replace my wife's windshield previously. The work they performed led me back to them for my windshield replacement. They did a great job both times and saved all the stickers I needed from the old windshields. No leaks, good fit and great service. They screwed my radio antenna on it's mount when they found it lying on my dash and even ran my XM wiring back behind the windshield gasket like I had it. They were done by the appointed time and for the quoted price. They were very personable when I spoke to them each and every time. Being a local mom and pop operation, they are beset by the corporate operators moving into the area and I really believe they need the support of local patrons. By all means, check them out.
