Don't ever, ever, EVER take a laptop to CPU for hardware repair. I took my laptop in to have a new power jack installed (the part that the charger plugs into in the laptop). It's not a complicated fix - I just don't have a soldering iron and I thought they could get a better price on the part than I could. When I dropped it off, the dude said it would be about a week because they would have to order the part, etc., etc.. Ok fine. So I called exactly a week later and they had not even looked at it. So the part was ordered the next day and my laptop was finally repaired another 4 or 5 days later. The dude that fixed it told me it was a rather complicated system so he had to charge me the full price of $115 for labor and told me I needed a different charger. Said he could order one and have it in two days. My laptop does me no good without a charger so I told him I would just pick both of them up when the charger came in. Four days later it had still not arrived and no one seemed to know where it was, so I just picked up my laptop without the new charger and went on my way. Bought a new charger same day at Best Buy. Now, the power issue is fixed, but the keypad is jacked. The left side was not set back in properly, so if you press the keys on the left side normally, the whole side of the keypad goes down instead of just the key. So you have to really push the keys on the left side. And I also have no sound now. . . . It looks like it's working. . . the sound card is installed. . . but I don't hear anything. Headphones work, but the built-in speaker does not. And printed on the receipt...there's no warranty on repair work. I will never darken the door of CPU again.
