The weather prevented any work for several weeks but on the weeks when it was dry enough to work, Paul always had an excuse for why he could not start the project. Finally, he had someone come out and till the ground for about a day and a half. The worker complained to us about Paul and said that he couldn't be trusted to pay him for his work. He quit and we played the excuse game for several more months. When spring arrived, Paul said that he needed the electrician to come out and do some work before we could proceed with the project. We had agreed that no work would be done on Saturadays from the beginning. Paul said that was not a problem since he did not work weekends. Paul said his electrician friend could only come out on Saturday. We refused to allow that. Paul then told us that the electrian was busy for the next twelve weeks due to his primary job. Paul never offered to look for another electrician. We found our own electrician, which told us that there was nothing an electrician could do until someone removed the dirt and set the posts for the pergola. I contacted Paul Smith and told him what our electrician had said. He promised to get the work done within a week. Another unfulfilled promise. Next Paul said he was too busy with lawn care. We finally ended the contract. The only problem is Paul had asked for a third of the cost of the project up front. That was $6,600. I know if you do the math you will notice that $6,600 is more than a third of $11,000. I need to mention that Paul's orginal job estimate was based on poor math. His original quote was $19,800. We didn't discover the error until after we had written the check and he had cashed it. We are out $6,600. The tilled ground finally hardened up, so we got nothing for our money.
Description of Work: Paul Smith contracted to build a patio and pergola. The only work that was done was a day and a half of tilling the ground and removing about twenty wheelbarrow loads of dirt.

Paul Smith left a flyer on doors through out the neighborhood offering lawn care service. After calling he agreed to spray for weeds and cut the grass, however nothing was ever accomplished. He cashed the check and then stopped responding to all calls and texts.
Description of Work: Provider did nothing but take money like a scam artist and then cease all contact.
