Sales woman was very nice, professional, and easy to work with. We found the counter we wanted at a reasonable price after shopping around for a couple of months. The saleswoman explained to us what to expect with white quartz - more visible seams between pieces, higher maintenance to keep clean, slightly increased risk of staining, etc. - which we understood as we had read quite a bit about the material before we decided on it. The time between the sale and the install was quick, but after that the experience became sour. There were a total of 4 pieces cut for the counters and 3 had to be recut/reinstalled. The first had a large, noticeable crack, but they installed it anyway and asked us afterwards if we wanted a discount. I felt that they should have asked me before they installed the damaged piece because when it was replaced the brand new cabinet was slightly damaged during removal. They had to take out two pieces because of this crack and the second time they came back they had cut the corners incorrectly on the new pieces, so they didn't match the other parts of the counter. Also, the seam between the two new pieces was rough and jagged, while the seam the first time at been tight and very clean. They had to recut these for a third time, and during this period we noticed that a corner on the counter by the door had been chipped off and glued it back on, apparently when one of the replacement pieces was being brought in or out. When they came back for the third install I asked the guys about the corner. The main installer told me that he glued the corner back on, as that was their protocol. When I expressed my displeasure, the installers went on to make excuses about how hard the white quartz is to cut and how we made a "big mistake" choosing white quartz. In the end, they took the piece with the broken corner and replaced it also. Through all of this, I was communicating with Mr. Sheppard and he was rude to me each time we talked over the phone. We were treated as if we were fussy, demanding customers because we objected to the install of a cracked counter, to the incorrect cutting of the corners and substandard seam, and to the broken corner. He complained to me how much this was costing him, and made excuses for his workers. We've had our counters for 6 months now and are very pleased with our choice in material, but I would never go back to Sheppard's again.

It was a very positive experience. They came back and resolved several small issues to our satisfaction. Ours is an old house so we had a few structural irregularities that they custom fitted

Description of Work: Sheppard's came out Friday, November 30th, 2012. Started by removing all the old countertops, sinks and faucets. The kitchen and laundry room were updated. As in all remolding jobs, this one had it's challenges. There was no water turn off valve under the sink in the kitchen, so the water had to be turned off from outside. NO water all day! Next the door to the laundry room had to be removed in order to move the washer and dryer out so the guys could remove the old top and install the new granite top in the laundry room. A new back splash had not been in the plans but while taking down the old 4" tile the whole back came off. Back splash, tile, sheetrock and all! At the end of the day, 2 new stainless steel sinks were installed along with new faucets. And the granite countertop is like none we have seen. We are enjoying it everyday! We would recommend Sheppard's to anyone that is thinking of remolding their kitchen. They have a very friendly and helpful staff. From the selection of the granite down to the hardware. The installers on this job were very friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. They cleaned up as they went. All old materials were removed when the job was finished.

They were very meticulous in their work. They did a great job. They weren't cheap, but they offered a fair price. They were competitive.

We have no complaints with Sheppard's Countertops. We originally called to get basic information and the owner offered to stay open late on a Friday so we could come by to view the different granites and get a preliminary estimate. After getting estimates from a couple other places, we decided to go with Sheppard's. Sheppard's estimate was on par with the other estimates but we felt more comfortable dealing with a "Mom & Pop" type place as opposed to a big box store or more well known company. Our reasoning was that we felt we would get better service dealing with someone who's name is on the front door of the business instead of a national retailer. We were trying to have the granite counertops installed before we moved into our new home and Sheppard's really tried to work with us to get that accomplished. Unfortunately, because we came in and ordered at the last minute, they weren't able to get the countertops installed before we moved in. However, they were installed in the first week we were in our new home. The installers were very friendly and worked quickly. We were highly impressed with how perfectly the two pieces of granite were joined leaving only a faint line that you could barely see and couldn't even feel when you ran a finger over it. A different installer came out to install the backsplash. He was originally scheduled to come out the day after the granite was installed but that day we received a phone call from Sheppard's that he was on a job that was taking longer than expected and wouldn't be able to do the backsplash for another 2 days. We were a little disappointed that it was going to take longer than expected but the lady at Sheppard's assured us that he was their best guy and was well worth the wait. She also offered to send someone else over to do the backsplash but recommended waiting until the original guy was available because he did a really good job. We decided to wait and we were not disappointed. He really did a great job installing the backsplash and was very meticulous about making sure the edge pieces were cut to conform around the cabinets. We thought he did a fantastic job. We highly recommend Sheppard's Countertops and would use them again in the future without hesitation.
Description of Work: We had old kitchen countertops torn out and new granite countertops put in. In addition, we also had a new stone backsplash and new kitchen sink installed.
