Mr. Nash was there about 15 minutes ahead of us. Our agent let him in. Once we got there, he was finished within 20 minutes, so didn't spend an hour on the inspection. He provided only on line report, nothing on paper. He told us the roof would be fine for another 8-9 years. He described the roof as 'fair'. When we were told by two roofing contractors that the roof needed replacing now, and called Mr. Nash, his representative said 'fair means poor'. On the $225 video of the plumbing, there was ONE frame for 20 seconds. Our plumber said this was useless and he had never seen anything like it as an inspection. We contacted Mr. Nash about a refund. He responded that he did a great job.

I needed a home inspection on very short notice. Two of the inspectors I contacted were available. I went with Kip because he gave me a lower quote. Of course, that ended up being a very wrong decision. I can't imagine a home inspection going any worse. Short version: Kip increased the price for the home inspection after he arrived. The reason he gave for doing so was that my home was a double and not a single. He blamed me for not bringing this to his attention when I scheduled the appointment. My realtor pointed out that it is usually on the onus of the inspector to ask relevant questions in order to give a quote. Kip later admitted he deliberately didn't ask any questions about it being a duplex, so he could quote a low price and get my business. He also threatened to sue me and call the police if I dared to write a bad review on Angie's list. Of course, it is ridiculous to think a truthful review should be countered with a law suit or police action, but that is how ridiculous the experience ended up being. He also referred to me as "Little Miss." So, if you want someone who is dishonest, easily angered, and condescending towards women, call Kip. Long version: When I scheduled the appointment, he asked me a few things about the house and quoted a price of 350. He arrived early. When I got there he let me know that he normally charges more for a duplex. And, he kept badgering me about why I didn't tell him it was a duplex. He made me feel bad about it. I finally told him that I didn't do home inspections for a living, so while it made sense to charge more for a duplex, I wouldn't necessarily think to provide that information. My realtor agreed that most home inspectors ask if the property they are inspecting is a single or multi-family property in order to properly estimate the price. Kip continued to argue that I should have told him. I finally agreed to pay him more than the quote even though he had very little to inspect as the electricity and water were not hooked up. He charged 450 for less than 2 hours of time. I did complain about the inspection not being very thorough. Previous inspections I have had (albeit in another state) have taken up to 4 hours and are very detailed. Kip did mentioned that he could test the electricity by hooking a line up to the generator. He said he could swing by and test it another day. Of course, he then he told me that would be another 250. I did complain about that. He had very little work to do on the inspection, it wasn't very thorough in my opinion, and then he wanted more money to come back. Well, I told him I wasn't happy with the inspection. I told him I thought he was trying to take advantage of me. He argued against all of these points. Then, I told him I was giving him a bad review on Angie's list. He literally went berzerk, exploding with anger. He said, "listen here little miss, I will sue you if you do that." Then he threatened to call the police. He calmed down for a moment and gave me some papers to sign that he should have given me at the start of the inspection (a failing on his part). After my experience with him I did insist on reading them carefully before signing. At this point he tried to be nice again, saying to the effect of "listen, the reason I didn't ask about whether or not this was a duplex is because when I do and give the price, no one will hire me." He admitted to being deceptive and somehow thought I would be cool with that. I told him I thought that was unacceptable and then he went crazy again. He ended up going on a tirade. My realtor filmed it. I would post it, but I just got a new phone and can't find the old one with the video. Suffice it to say it has gotten a lot of laughs at gatherings with family and friends. Of course Kip knew I was in an hurry to get the inspection report. He waited to the maximum time he could legally before providing it. And, it was not particularly useful.
