I got a new driveway, but it was a job worth $6000, NOT $8500!
Description of Work: Very soon after pouring concrete (within 1 hour) it started to rain. No plastic cover was applied, leaving pock marks and washing off some of the top layer. They said they would fix it later but never did so. Some residual trash was left for me to clean up. It took 2 weeks for them to bring dirt to fill the areas left open after the form was removed. Then the dirt was lumpy and uneven. Very poor workmanship/customer service.

I wanted to pour a 4” thick concrete slab underneath an existing cover adjacent to the house in an area roughly 25’ x 12.5’. Cover prevented backing a cement truck right up to the project area, so cost was increased due to having to “cart” the cement to the site. I called about three companies listed in the local newspaper for quotes. One quoted about $36 more than Total Concrete Services, but I was very skeptical of that company; did not sound professional on the phone. Another company took a while to return my call and I did not get a quote from them. Total Concrete Works returned my call quickly and came by to give a quote the same day. I really liked the rep, G. Bishop, who came across as no salesman, but a guy who knew the business. I also wanted a small existing slab demo’ed, which added about $200 to the cost. He told me they would start on the following Monday, which was the day of my choosing, but they were not able to finish the current project on time due to rain. As a result they started and finished my project on the following Tuesday. One thing I should mention is Bishop called me around 10am Monday to tell me they would not be starting until the next day. As it was, I was on vacation all week and the delay did not affect my plans. On Tuesday Bishop and a crew of three guys arrived around 9:30am and were completely done by early afternoon. I am very pleased with the slab although it has not completely cured yet, so I haven’t put any pressure on it. But, it sure looks nice and inviting. My opinion of the slab is greatly enhanced because it is something I have wanted to have done since we moved here about 3.5 years ago. Nevertheless, I would use Total Concrete Works again. Of course, I will not know how well a job they really did until a few years down the road when I see how well it resisted cracking, etc.
Description of Work: Light grading/ground preparation, demo small existing slab, form, pour, and level concrete.
