My wife and I own a Kenmore dryer. It failed on or about 2 January 2016, and we made the mistake of calling Sears Home Services. A repairman came, and he said we needed a new part and he would be ?right back? when the part came. The part did come on 4 January. We called, and were told the only date available was about nine days later,13 January, in a nine-hour window between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. I am a law professor and am not about to jilt my classes. My wife is a registered nurse who has about a dozen patients without functioning kidneys who depend upon her for their lives. I was told that on 13 January, we could be served in a window between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. My wife or I would have to take off work all day and not even take our child to school! I spoke to a supervisor on 12 January, telling her of our schedule problems. I indicated I would be available after 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., except for thirty minutes to pick up my daughter from school between 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. A supervisor told me the record had been so noted. That same evening, 12 January, I then received a call from their robot confirming? my 8:00 a.m. appointment! I immediately called and again spoke to a supervisor. I was yet again assured the schedule had been noted as to my times of unavailability. On the morning of the ?appointment,? 13 January, while in my classroom as a law professor, I received a call at 8:20 a.m. via my cellphone from the repairman who was sitting in my home driveway. I told him of my two conversations with supervisors the previous day. I explained that I was beginning a morning of classes. He said he understood and would come late that same day, after 5:00 p.m. I made it a point to be back home by 3:45 p.m. The repairman never kept his word. Next I was told that my wife or I must take off work all day on 23 January to twiddle our thumbs waiting in the hopes that this time Sears' repairman will keep his promise. I was again put at the end of the line and that 23 January is the soonest available date to replace the appointment that their own repairman skipped out on. Three weeks to get a Kenmore dryer repaired is unacceptable. I have now had the machine repaired by an independent appliance repair service. I called Capitol City Appliance this morning, and they came this very morning and fixed the dryer in a matter of minutes. The independent repairman charged $95, which is far less than the $179 we paid Sears to fail to fix our dryer! Our dryer is the last Kenmore product I shall ever own, and the last time I shall ever deal with Sears.
Description of Work: Took several days to find what was wrong with our Kenmore dryer, ordered needed part, made us wait a week for a return visit, failed to keep that appointment, and told us we would have to wait another ten days to reschedule the appointment they failed to keep.

Description of Work: Replaced an advantium oven. |Oven was not available when initially agreed to. Blamed the manufacturer for the delay. Seems to me that they should know if a product was available or should state that do not know at the time of the sale. Now scheduled for two days from now. Originally scheduled for two weeks ago.

They did a good job without a problem. The workers were okay.
Description of Work: Sears came out to look at our hot water heater a year or so ago.
