The initial install went fine except for having to hear the installer complain most of the time. During the initial install I had to get three of the tiles replaced due to the installer repeating the tile pattern which made for an eye sore, not a big problem. The real problems came when I had to try to get them back out to finish the work. My wife called to schedule them to come out 3 times without them returning her phone call before I got involved. I called approximately 3 more times without them returning my phone call. I then decided to call the person who works for Design Depot an actually installed the tile. He answered but informed me that someone else would have to finish my work because he quit installing tile. I asked him if he could call Kyle (the owner) for me and he wouldn't. I called approximately 4 more times over the following few weeks with the same answer, "Kyle is out right now can I leave him a message?" No one will return my phone call and I still haven't heard back from Design Depot. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They do not care about their customers. Even if you have to pay a little extra to have better customer service it is well worth it.
Description of Work: I hired Design Depot (Flooring Depot) to install porcelain tile throughout my house. I explained that I wanted to do 80% of my house then do some bathroom renovations and have them come finish up after the renovations were done. The sales people assured me that they do that all the time and that it would be no problem.
The Flooring Depot has the absolute worst customer service, and is the most unprofessional company, that I have ever encountered. I had the displeasure of doing business with The Flooring Depot in Baton Rouge, and would like to share the experience in an effort to save others from the nightmares associated with dealing with Flooring Depot. During the sales process the salesperson seemed very polite and knowledgeable. As a result of the initial meeting, I thought this was a quality company that I would enjoy doing business with; therefore I had contracted with The Flooring Depot to install laminate, carpet, and tile at my home. However, The Flooring Depot's professionalism, courtesy levels, and demeanor drastically changed after Flooring Depot received payment. After installation there were several issues: the installation crew had not installed all of the transition pieces between the laminate & tile floor sections; the crew had removed closet doors during the carpet installation and did not reinstall them; there were imperfections in the tile job (raised tile); the installers had dropped globs of tile grout in several areas which subsequently hardened into raised nodules on the tiles; and the crew had left stickers, from the boxes of flooring materials, stuck to the walls in the home. Over the course of several weeks, I attempted to seek resolution to the issues by contacting The Flooring Depot through phone calls, filling out their website contact form, and even physically visiting their store. During my attempts to reach resolution to my issues, I was consistently met with the same response, that I would need to talk to Kyle (Marshall Kyle Edenfield; the owner). Each time I contacted The Flooring Depot, I would leave my name & number; and inevitably I would never by contacted by anyone. I eventually started to call on a daily basis, and would receive a near endless stream of excuses ("Kyle is out to lunch", "Kyle has already gone home for the day"). Again & again I would leave my name & number, and Kyle would never contact me. After having received such poor service I did some additional investigation (unfortunately after-the-fact); I discovered that I am not alone in my experiences. The Flooring Depot has overwhelmingly negative reviews on Yelp, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Yellow Pages (YP), CitySearch, and Angie's List. Nearly every one of the reviews cites the exact same problems?poor customer service, incomplete jobs, staff not being available & never returning calls, removal of doors for installation & not replacing them when done, poor quality work; the list goes on and on! Absolutely avoid The Flooring Depot!

We met two sales reps from Flooring Depot at our office to get estimates to do repetitive flooring replacement at our numerous rental properties (over 130 units). They said that they would measure several vacant units and provide estimates to us. They never contacted us to give estimates.
Description of Work: Met to discuss estimates to replace flooring at our apartment complexes and office complexes during turnover.

Overall went well. installers were regular subs father & son. They we really nice and did a good job. We were in a hurry to replace old carpet in bedroom area of house. We shopped around a little and found higher quality carpet at much higher price. Provided was straight forward said for low traffic area this inexpensive carpet would be a good choice. After installed I am happy with new carpet because it looks so much better than original and installer was finished in a single day. They also moved furniture around in four bedrooms at no additional cost.

I met a salesman named Paul at Flooring Depot. He talked a good game but he never delivered anything he said he would do. I visited the store several times a week over a three week period with no results. Paul never gave me a written estimate nor did he order the materials he promised to get for us. Paul sent me to several of his distributors which they did not appreciate. When I mentioned Paul's name they rolled their eyes and had nothing good to say about Paul. I called Flooring Perfectionist in Gonzales and they came to my home the same day I called. They gave me a written estimate before leaving my house. The next day I went to Flooring Perfectionist and picked out the flooring. It took 2 days to get the materials in and 4 days to complete the project which included repairing damaged wood floors, sanding and refinishing the wood floors in the living room, hallway and bedroom and putting down tile in both the bathroom and utility room. I would highly recommend Flooring Perfectionist and completely steer clear of Flooring Depot and especially a salesman named Paul.
Description of Work: Needed damaged wood boards replaced on hardwood floors, tile in a bathroom/utility area.
Flooring depot was able to start my flooring project very fast, and complete it quickly. The tile installers were perfectionists and all the tile is absolutely perfect! They were very professional and prompt, got the job done quickly while still maintaining the highest quality.
Description of Work: installed ceramic tile in several rooms (living, kitchen, dinging, and hallways) and carpet in 2 bedrooms.

They worked with my schedule because I am only available every other Friday to supervise the work. They did a good job with the bedroom floor. They told me in the store that they could replace the hallway wood, but when they came out the installer said they weren't able to do it because it was the wrong size wood. So then we agreed we would put tile in the hallway instead. The installer they sent out for that did a terrible job. The tiles were crooked with raised edges all over the place. I complained and called back a number of times and never received a call back. Then they just showed up one Friday to come break it up again. They never even called me to confirm whether they could come out or not. They just kept telling me they would get back to me. Their customer service was crappy for about a month. They finally sent out another installer and he did a really good job. So it took me about 2 months to get the job done. I would use them again for wood, but not for tile.
Description of Work: Flooring Depot USA installed wood floors in my bedroom (16x20). There was damaged wood in a hallway (6x6) that I also hired them to replace.

BJ at the store was very easy to work with. Chris was very patient when he came to measure. We went through a few ideas with him before deciding. BJ and Chris finalized the cost at the store, after we picked out the products. The work was scheduled quickly. They just had to order the tile. Greg and Dave were the installers and were very good. The job was finished in 4 days just as they said. We had a couple of issues that were taken care of smoothly and well. We felt everyone had a lot of experience and know-how.
Description of Work: Removed all existing tile in one room and hall. Laid new tile. Removed carpet in two rooms and long hall. Laid tile in the hall and laid laminate in the two rooms.

This is the second time The Flooring Depot installed material purchased from them. The work was done in a timely and efficient manner. At this point about three weeks after installation, I am very satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Flooring material that was purchased at Flooring Depot was installed by a team of their installers. It included laminate and tile installation.
