EDWARDS CUSTOM FLOORING CO INC

To say I was disappointed with the craftsmanship and professionalism of Robbie Edwards of Edwards Custom Flooring and his crew would be an understatement. The crew was supposed to arrive and start work at my home on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. They did not show up until 10:30 am on Friday November 21, 2008. I called Robbie several times on the 19th, 20th, and 21st to ascertain the status of his crew and did not receive any reply. Specific deficiencies are listed as follows: 1) There was a gap between the floor molding and the end of the laminate left by a worker in the first room they did which I pointed out. He cut a sliver of laminate to fill the gap. It looks like poo. 2) I found an even larger gap in a hallway which was corrected with out a filler piece. The glue was not dry and laminate was slid into place. 3.) The workers left it to me and my wife to wipe the glue off the laminate daily. 4) When the job was done I found a gap between planks that was so large it had to be filled with putty. 5) There were numerous places where glue had dried on top of the laminate. It s tough to remove without damaging the laminate. 6) Chipped laminate was installed. 7) Rather then saving the small pieces of laminate to use in closets, the crew discarded them. 8) I had to loan the crew my angle grinder so they could under cut brick because they broke their blade and had no spare. 9) I had to supply an eleven foot two by four for the crew to use as bracing. Thank goodness I had tools and materials to loan! 10) They got a lot of the glue on my floor molding. 11) They removed molding and failed to mark which room it came from. It will be a puzzle to reinstall. 11) They polished the living room with some sort of oil (did not do this on any other room) and left the oily residue on the floor for me and the wife to clean up. 12) The waste was much more then the 5% estimated. The workers only fit pieces together after the glue was laid. Therefore, if a piece was mis-cut (happened a lot) it was discarded. 13) They tracked glue on to carpet and tile in other rooms despite the fact that my wife and I had laid down a path of cardboard for then to traverse on when coming and going. 14) The laminate failed to properly adhere to the glue in many places, hence it pops and creaks when you walk on it. I truly feel that this must be Edwards B team. If not then how does he stay in business? They charged an exorbitant amount ($2.50 per ft which is more the anyone else in the area charges), failed to show up on time, did a very, very poor job, did not have the proper tools or materials to do the job, installed faulty materials, got glue where it did not need to be, failed to properly adhere the laminate to the floor (it pops and creeks in many places), and wasted a lot of material. Other than that they did just fine.
