They were on time and did really good quality work. The work was done fast and it had started raining during the time they were working, but it didn't stop or slow them down. The young lady was very nice on the phone. However there is a 150 dollar service fee to come to St. Amant. I find that difficult to believe since Angie's List has their company as 12.3 miles away. That is a hefty fee to go 24.6 miles round trip.

American Plumbing fixed the problem of a leak in my slab. First they ran a camera to find where the damage was, and it showed some pretty bad damage in the pipes which as my home is over 50 years old, was not unusual. They quickly jack-hammered the slab, removed the rotten iron pipe which I could see was ate up, replaced it with pvc and tested it until it was perfect. Then they neatly replaced the concrete and I was in business. Everything went smoothly and Terry and Mike were on time and very courteous, answering all my questions in a way I could easily understand. I now consider them my Family Plumbers and it is a relief to know I can rely on them if I need them again.

The work that the plumbers did was high quality and efficient. The reason I gave such low marks was their communication with me and price. I set up an appointment for a Friday. They didn't give me a time but said we were "third on the list" so to expect the afternoon. At 2 pm, I hadn't heard from them so called. They told me they were planning to call but hadn't gotten to it yet. They told me they had 5 jobs that day. I had taken time off of work and they clearly could have known that morning that they would not make it to my job. They then could not come until the following Tuesday afternoon and completed the work on Wednesday afternoon. The total time was about 5-6 hours - $1375 seems high for that amount of time. Also, they had to open part of my wall but now I have to get the wall part fixed. Now- their plumbers were very personable and did quality work.

Called because of a leaky toilet. He ran a hose down my toilet 135.00. No blockages found. Then he carried the 30year old toilet to my backyard and asked for a hose, ran the hose 4min. Told me something must be in the toilet 110.00. 49.00 service charge. Total 294.00. When called to complain to the company, he told them I already agreed to the price, not true! I did pay them like I do for other companies I hire to do work at my house. I would never agree to pay 110.00 dollars to have an old toilet carried out to the backyard and have a hose run thru it for 3minor less. I have a lot of work done at my house with different companies... Never have I felt so ripoff and taken advantage of, nor have I ever felt the need to write a review.

The faucet was leaking very badly. He spent time trying to fix it, had to get some parts but that did not work. At that point he recommended that it would cost less for me to pick out a new faucet and he would install it. He went on to another small job and I went to Lowes and got the faucet I wanted. He was back shortly and finished the job.

I had no problem with the work it was the amount they charged $110.00 per hour. Was here approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Then charged an extra $49.00 just to come to my house. I don't think the going rate for plumbers is 159.00. I won't be calling them again. I thought be getting them off of Angie's list it would be a plumber I could trust and wasn't told about the coupon.

He was very efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. I thought they were a little bit pricey but then I moved to the big city from a bad marriage in the country so he knows everything's more expensive. He came in a very calmly manner. Everything else was all stars. And I would use him again. What stood out was his friendliness, I guess.

Once again, quick, professional service from the folks at American! Finally got around to replumbing under the sink and it is much better. The bathtub no longer holds water but instead has a nice whirlpool as it drains faster. Mike was very personable, professional and knowledgable as he informed me of how the replumbing was going to improve my drainage now. I will definitely call them if ever I need service. I joined Angie's List today and when I found them here, I posted reviews back through my first service call back in 2007. Working with the same company for seven years and never having problems means a lot to my family.

In my last review, I wrote that the plumber recommended reworking the pipes under the sink so my disposal and sinks would drain efficiently. Well, I see now he was very right, although I'd independently confirmed his assessment earlier. The same plumber arrived to take care of the problem. He offered suggestions for avoiding future clogs by being very selective about what was put down the disposal. Fortunately, we don't put grease or other heavy items down it, but even so, build up is inevitable. American's plumbers (or the one's I've done business with) care about their work, have a love for it and for helping customers understand what they've done, why it was done that way, and being sure you are satisfied. I don't mind paying for quality work that is backed up by guarantees. It shows the company intends to build their customer base person-by-person, letting their reputation also grow as word is spread. I share my good experiences with American Plumbing with all my friends and co-workers, especially since they serve the Baton Rouge and Gonzales areas.

Late Christmas present: woke up to find hot water line had burst under kitchen sink and water spewing everywhere. American was the only company that day who was working or could come out. The plumber was very punctual, professional, and courteous, completing the repairs capably and thanking me for my business. I was new to the area at the time and looking for a company to establish a long-term working relationship since I like continuity in my service companies. They fit the bill in that regard and have been my 'go-to' plumber since.

The plumber was punctual and knowledgable, getting right to work once I showed him the problem. While he was under the sink, he recommended reworking the plumbing since it was not set up to drain correctly, which could cause clogs later due to the garbage disposal's input. He did not pressure me to have it done that day, which was refreshing; just offered his professional advice. (I did some checking independently and confirmed his assessment, which gave American's credibility a big boost.) From the initial call to set up the service appointment to the plumber's visit to completion of the job, I have felt like we're in good hands with professionals whose aim is to get it right the first time, doing quality work, and seeking the customer's satisfaction. That's quite a goal, but American have done it twice in my experience. That is why they remain my 'go-to' plumbers.

I would use them again. They are generally a good company and have been operating in this area for a long time. They were not as responsive as I wanted on one occasion where I was having a problem with an open bathtub valve with water running. I had to call another company as my problem was a small emergency with water running.
