Along with our selection of top-rated security products, we also provide expert advice from our team of competent, highly-trained, and friendly experts. Alarm Center is locally owned by Brian Watson, a Veteran of the US Navy Nuclear Submarine Service with a Top Secret security clearance. All of our systems are Guaranteed or your money back. Unskilled, untrained, unqualified technicians. Even “management” is unknowledgeable about older and newer systems. RACIST owner & staff. Staff talks horrible about loyal customers. High staff turn over rate. Unknowledgeable admin to where you either have to wait on hold for long periods of time or someone has to call you back with a half correct answer. EXTREMELY RUDE. Had a BRAND NEW IQ2 system that they installed in my home and it didn’t work half of the time and they wanted to charge me to have a technician come out to repair. These people are in “life safety” but I would not put my life into their systems. Other qualified companies to choose from: custom security, certified alarm systems, or la alarms. I would take your business else where before getting into a contract with this company. Also this company is offering incentives for customers to write them a review. So majority of these reviews were done bc the company offered them a month off just to lie and write them a good review so they look like they are doing good work.

The paperwork I filled out, which I thought gave them permission to monitor my home, actually turned out to be a 5 year contract. Very very small print. I actually found out it was a contract when I contacted them, months later, about cancelling the service. They told me I had signed a contract and that I would have to pay the full term of the contract. The only way to get out of it was to move out of the house. Well, a year later, when I did move out of the house, they sent me a bill for the full term of the contract, over $1,000. I called and told them I had moved, expecting for them to cancel the bill. Instead, they insisted that I was still responsible to pay the $1,000. When I reminded them that they told me I could get out of the contract if I moved, they basically said I was lying. I am a pastor. I'm not going to lie over $1,000. They threatened to take "legal action," which I assumed was small claims court. I ended up paying the bill just to save myself the hassle. The receptionist was always sweet, but her supervisor was a real piece of work. This company is not one you should do business with. Stay away.
Description of Work: They monitored my home. They did not install any equipment, since it was already installed when we bought it. They simply turned the service on and monitored it.

Response from Alarm Center Security
This client signed an agreement with us that clearly stated that the agreement was for a term of 60 months. This was written near the top of this completely legal agreement in the 5th sentence. The monthly amount of this agreement was only 22.95 per month. We assume a great deal of responsibility when we agree to monitor a client’s home for burglary, fire and medical emergencies. Since we don’t charge a large fee when we dispatch a technician to connect a client to our central station, we will actually lose money on the account if the client defaults before the end of the term. If a client wants a shorter agreement we will work with them but we may have to charge a slightly higher monthly fee. No one at our office would have told this client that they had to move out of the house in order to dissolve this agreement. We have no record that this client was ever unhappy with the quality of our service. All we asked for is that this client honor his word and to live up to the agreement that he made with our company. We are always happy to furnish a copy of an agreement if one is requested. In addition, we would be happy to credit this client back for this service if he connects his new home to our central station.

Work was done quickly (just a couple of hours) and professionally. I was very impressed that they were on time as well. It didn't look like they had even done any work, as everything was clean after they left.
Description of Work: House was pre-wired for security system. Alarm Center came in and hooked up the alarm system, including four doors, ten windows, a motion detector, and one keypad. Showed us how to use the keypad, which was helpful, in addition to leaving the manual and writing down key info in the manual too.

I signed the 36 month contract on 1/07 and purchased a new home on 8/07. I called to cancel the contract on 8/17 when I was told by their employee that all I needed to do was submit a notice of termination and refer them, as I had and was told everthing was taken care of per their employee. I decided I wanted to have them install a system in my new home (supposed to be pre-wired). On 8/20 I canceled that installation, since I found the home was not pre-wired. I was told I was in breach of my contract and was verbally abused, intimidated, and harrassed by their staff. I told Tom Taylor I was not satisfied and demanded a refund for current payment I made for services up till 10/07 and my contract to be canceled. They are denying me any refund of that money and are demanding payment for the remainder of the contract. Their ad states satisfaction guarenteed or your money back, which they do not follow. The Attorney Generals Office and FTC were both notified and are investigating.
Description of Work: The Alarm Center was to monitor an exisiting system. When they arrived they said they cannot monitor using the existing system, which is odd, since they were the monitoring company before I moved in (sign was in the yard). The Alarm Center said they installed a new system at a drastically reduced cost (BBB Complaint Response), which I called another company and from what I am told it is not reduced at all. When they installed they did not change out the smoke alarms, motion sensors, or siren (only the control panel and key pads). Additionally, they require you sign a 36 month contract.
