This is about ADT in general. I contacted them last year to get a quote on services and elected to go with another company. I told thier rep I was going with another company and now they won't leave me alone..they email, they call, they make personal visits to my home and I got another email today..I have told everyone I called that I found a service that I am happy with and not to contact me anymore and they won't listen. It's always someone different - never the same person. How do I stop them?

My experience with ADT has been very frustrating. From the start ADT has not allowed me to install or operate my alarm system in a way that I would like to use it. I truly wanted the phone call list to be bypassed with a call directly to the home through a speaker, which I was advised against. I also wanted to operate my system from a key fob which I was also advised against. I truly let ADT sell me the system based on endorsements from USAA. ADT tries to sell the fact that USAA customers are treated with more priority and matters are handled quickly however I have not found that to be the case. My only benefit to being a USAA member has been a ?exclusive 10% off ? and a monthly discount of $4.06/mon from USAA home owners insurance, which would not be any different had I chosen a different alarm company. Also all the advertisements about a free install are just a lure. The system advertised is only one that you would ?install on a small application?. I think the install of the alarm system started on the wrong foot. You would think as a part of the multi-page questionnaire about the needs and desires for your system one question would have been on the color of the trim on the windows and doors so that the contacts would blend in. A few contacts had already been installed by the time I noticed only one being brown which was perfect and the rest were white which stood out like a sore thumb against my brown wood trim. I mentioned that brown contacts would look better and blend in and was told that it should have been determined during the outline of the system. I called the rep that sold me the system and asked him about it, he said that I could paint the contacts and that the brown contacts were more expensive. In discussing this with the installer he said that was not the case and called his manager. I could hear the manager over the phone telling the installer to do whatever he needed to close the sale. I told him I was not happy with white and would rather him come back when he had all brown contacts. All appointments with the exception of the sale of the system are done on a time frame that is convenient for ADT not so much for the customer. After I get through the entire install I try and use the system and realize no time delay had been programmed to the system which I identified on a Saturday around 8pm they call back around 1045pm saying they can send a call person out to fix the issue. I told them considering I was trying to sleep I would rather the next day during the day time. They said no one would be available and would have to fix the issue later in the week. In addition, during the initial install a hole was made in the closet. They asked me if I wanted it fixed? They said it would not cost anything extra, so I did not really understand the question. Considering I had just remodeled and all my walls were impeccable why would I not want the hole fixed. My install was in Aug,2014 and it is now Jan, 2015 I have yet to have the hole in my closet resolved. Last time I called to mention the issue they wanted an email statement that I wanted the hole fixed. Then they called back again asking if I still wanted the hole fixed and to send photos. I am still waiting and this is almost five months after the install. I am not sure if this is premium customer service for USAA members ? Since my initial install I have also wanted to add one key fob, one contact and one window break. I repeatedly am advised against the key fob and have given up on it. Also they advise against the remote contact for the shed saying that moisture in my shed would create false alarms related to moisture. I do not see how it would be any different than my garage contact which is at a further distance from the transponder than my shed is. I hope that other people have better experiences than I do. I truly feel that ADT?s #1 priority is having a monthly paying customer otherwise if any changes need or want to be made to a system that is low priority.

Hello. We've reached out to [member name removed] regarding his concerns and have apologized for the level of service he's experienced thus far. We set up a service appointment for him, which took place on Friday 1/9/15, and we installed an additional sensor and also programmed a key fob on the system. The customer is waiting on an invoice from a local contractor, that fixed a hole in his wall, which will be then submitted to ADT's insurer. Thank you. -Andrew

They are good as long as you don't need anything. Once you need something, they don't show up to your house. They stood me up twice and one of them was a no call, no show. The other one, they sent me an e-mail saying he couldn't make it but he called me the next day and then didn't call me until 6:30 at night. I have been using them for 5 years and there were no problems at all. I didn't ask for anything, I just pay my bill. This is really the first time I needed anything for a system upgrade and I was asking for a proof for my home insurance and that's when I found out I did not have fire and they stood me up for appointments. They wanted to charge me $700 for the system upgrade and I thought I am not giving money to a company that proved they don't give a sh*t about me. So they are giving me everything I asked for for free. I haven't paid any higher than the monthly fee.
