Let me start by saying I'm sorry for such a long post, but this is very important! I feel this story needs to be told so that all of my fellow neighbors and fellow veterans in the good earth subdivision will not be taken advantage of. Just a few days ago, my neighbor was having her trees removed and we wanted to have our back yard tree trimmed. We had asked John the owner of “Mr. Green Jeans” to give use a quote since they were already out at our neighbors home. John, after looking at the tree said that it would be $800 to do, then he stopped and said no it really needs to be a $1000. My wife said OK, I understand you offer a military discount what can you do for us. He said that was a military discount. She then asked what if we paid in cash, he did not seem very eager to discount but he reluctantly agreed to $900. We were not sure if this price was good or fair so we decided to call Cecil at “BDC Tree Service” and Travis at “Bordelon's Tree Removal” and asked if they would come out and give us an estimate. A few hours later both of the other companies showed up and before coming to the door to let us know they have arrived, John from “Mr. Green Jeans stopped them and started talking to them in our front yard. My wife noticed them out there speaking and wondered what was going on. Travis with “Bordelon's Tree Removal” quickly left without even looking at the tree or speaking to us. Cecil with “BDC Trees Service” hastily looked at the tree and quickly said it would be $950. My wife asked who that was that just left and he said the it was Travis from “Bordelon's Tree Removal”, but he said please don't tell him I told you that. We said thank you and he left. My wife and I started to get an idea of what was going on. My wife then called Travis and asked why he did not bother to come in give us a quote. He stated that he did not want to get mixed up in the drama. My wife asked what drama and Travis stated that John from “Mr. Green Jeans” hemmed them up when they arrived and told them that he had already quoted us a price and since he sometimes does some work for “Mr. Green Jeans” he did not want to under bid him. He said that John had stated he quoted us $800, “which was untrue”, and that is why Cecil quoted $950 to keep from under biding him. My wife then laid in to him an said that was not trued and we were not looking for someone to under bid anyone, we just wanted fair price quotes to compare. He then said he was sorry and understood. He asked if he could come back out once everyone had left to give us the quote. Once Travis came back and looked at the back tree he said yes he could do the job for $800 and could start first thing in the morning. He seemed to be very ashamed of what he was a party to since he got caught. Let me stop here and say that his men came out the next morning and did a very good job. The next day my other neighbor, without knowing what had taken place, called “Mr. Green Jeans” to ask for a quote on removing two trees in her back yard. The wife of John answered the call and was very rude to her and said that my husband had already quoted you. Without saying anything else my neighbor hung up. She then told us what had happened and we believe that the wife thought she was taking to us. So if price fixing and competition intimidation was not enough, they wanted to retaliate with rude customer service. Needless to say the lost her as a potential customer and my wife and I will not use or recommend “Mr. Green Jeans”, “BDC Tree Service”, or “ Bordelon's Tree Removal ever again. This is not how our free market system is to work. This is industry specific corruption in full view. I do hope this information is helpful to all who reads it and I would recommend reaching out to other, maybe smaller, more honest companies who need the work for pricing.

They quoted a price much less than other companies. They did an excellent job and made sure everything was cleaned up when they left. They were very nice. We would hire them again.

This was a few years ago. I remember that they brought a very big truck and several people. They cut down the tree and removed all the debris quickly. The price was high but I don't remember the exact amount.
