I had received Charles' information from the fence supply company I was working with, Ramm Stalls & Horse Fencing of Ohio. Charles arrived on the property to do an in-person estimate on October 3rd, 2013. We came to an agreement, and Charles required a deposit of $1,000 to book the job. Charles was unable to return to begin the job until November 5th, at which time he admitted he had spent the entire deposit I had already given him, and without the rest of the amount due for the job, had 'no money to live'. Because of Ramm Fence's continued support up to that time of Charles as a contractor, and in a good faith effort to complete the job, I wrote an additional and final check for $1,000.00. Charles began work that day and worked for a total of 3 days (2 1/2), for a total of 18 hours. The next day, Friday, November 8th, Charles never showed up. To this day, Charles has not made any contact on his own or returned any phone calls made to him by myself or Ramm Fence. Charles abandoned this fence job, leaving over 80% unfinished, and leaving my property in a dangerous state of disarray. Approximately 150 12" wide, 4' deep post holes were left exposed and unattended across the paddocks, where I have over a dozen horses living. Strands of old, rusty barbed wire were left cut and laying in the paddocks. Additionally, Charles damaged many areas on the property with his tools and rental equipment, which will need expensive repairs to return to their original state.
Description of Work: Charles Collins, owner of Charles Collins Installations, agreed to install 2,000 of horse fencing on my property. Because his truck broke and he was unable to fix it, I was to provide the materials and their delivery.
