Description of Work: First of all let me start by saying that these are the most beautiful cabinets I've ever seen, and I am so excited to actually have them in my kitchen! The color and grain are beautiful and the quality is top-notch. That being said...if you are in a hurry or have a timeline you wish to follow, I'd think twice about using them. We ordered our cabinets in the middle of July. We were told it would be approximately 9-10 weeks before we got them. As we got closer to that time frame, I called to ask if they had any idea of a more precise time, seeing as I had to schedule myself at work and wanted to make sure to be available when the cabinets were. The answer was the same every time "as I always tell everyone, kitchen remodels eventually come to an end." When we'd call John Barber (one of the owners), he never had any answers for us, and in some cases never even returned our calls. This was after promising to try to "push us through" since we were having to live in the house while the remodel was going on(this was nothing we planned..we were thrown into it when an original cabinet fell from our wall.) We finally received our cabinets after 13 weeks. I have since been told that whatever time frame they give you, you need to add 2-3 weeks (at least) to it. I've also been told by others that they are notoriously difficult to work with. Sadly, I knew none of this before or I might have rethought our decision to use them. However, I can't fault the appearance or quality of these cabinets. They are simply gorgeous! AND, I would use them again (and am considering it for bathroom vanities), now that I know not to expect the work to be completed in the timeline I'm quoted. Also, it's easier when you have more than one bathroom to work with! If I was just rating the cabinets, they would get an A+. However, where their customer service and relations come, they get a C at best. I'm not sure if we were pushed to the backburner because we were an insurance issue (they got 60% of their money up front before starting our job), or if our job wasn't considered "big" enough, or what the issue was. We ordered these cabinets on July 23rd and production got started on Oct 3 (according to the billing statement we received.) I have a friend who was remodeling one house while living in her current house..they had their bathroom vanities in 6 weeks...for a house that wasn't even occupied. The thing they were most timely with was their bill. I had my bill requesting final payment one week after the cabinets were installed. Since it took so long for these cabinets to come in, I am STILL without a functioning kitchen (no countertops, no sink, no plugs) and only 3 weeks until Thanksgiving. Hopefully the rest of our contractors will be more timely!

+ -1 moreWe remodeled our kitchen. In the process we had removed two walls, eliminated one door and created a new entry. This meant the configuration for the new cabinets would be different than the old ones. They also custom created a shallow closet in our laundry room so I could hang up brooms and mops (GREAT!) Also, they made a cabinet for the utility sink and the cabinets in our new bathroom. For years, I had known that Barber Cabinet was a high-end cabinet maker. I was leery of having them do an estimate for us because I thought their price would be prohibitive for us, but after some thought, I decided to have them measure and give us an estimate. Their care in measuring and re-measuring, willingness to serve our needs, and the quality received for the dollars spent was well worth it. They came to our house each and every time they said they would...there was no delay or re-scheduling on their part, which I appreciated greatly.They made sure as soon as the other work in the kitchen was completed and ready for the cabinets, they came out immediately to install the new cabinets. Our cabinets are beautiful and well-built. I am completely satisfied and glad to use a local business.
Description of Work: We completely remodeled our kitchen. We had Barber Cabinet Company manufacture and install our new kitchen cabinets. They were extremely professional and responsive to our needs and wants. I can not say enough good things about them. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

+ -1 moreWe like to support our local merchants here in Versailles, but after two bad experiences, I won't bother them for a bid again. In the large job, the rep came to our home to see the area and review the cabinetry plans. She seemed annoyed and disinterested, I thought she must have been having a bad day. I waited weeks for her to get back to me with an estimate, and after calling her twice with no result, I went ahead with another contractor who did a lovely job. The Barber agent never did call me back. Wow... In the small job the rep called me with a quote about 10 days after I requested an estimate. She did not accept my invitation to make a site visit to take measurements, discuss door design, finishes and hardware options, etc. Am not sure if this was the same rep, but this one also seemed disinterested in the job, and their price was wayyy higher than competitors. I did not choose Barber for the job.
Description of Work: We have twice solicited bids from Barber, once for a large job in our own home, the other for a small job in a rental house we are remodeling.

+ -1 moreI was quoted a completion time of 4 to 6 weeks and based my tearout on that time frame. Called at 5 weeks and cabinets had not been started. I had to call and call to get them to deliver the cabinets at 8 weeks from order date. When the cabinets arrived we found that the person who measured the wall had not taken into account the height of the outlets or light switch. Cabinets could not be installed until I could get an electrician in to move the outlets and switch, costing additional time, money and cancellation of the granite template. The measurements given for glass inserts for doors (measured by the same employee) were incorrect and had to be returned to the glass company to be re-cut, more additional cost. Cabinet was installed the following week. Baseboard was cut for around leg and not saved and is now missing from right side of the wall. Inside of the cabinet shelf was not properly painted, I called and let them know. The same employee said she would be in town and come by and look the beginning of the following week. That was over a week ago and I have not heard a word. I was given a 10% discount for my problems but most of that was eaten up by loss of time, additional cost and did not touch the frustration caused by the delay, subpar quality or lack of professionalism.

+ -1 moreWe met with Barber Cabinet various times to design the cabinets. They were very helpful in the designing process. We feel that we got a good price for what they did. Barbers are an established family business that has been around for a long time. Thanks to Terry Burns for the design help he gave.
Description of Work: Barber Cabinet built and installed 30 custom cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms. The cabinets are white Formica. They also built the Formica countertops.
